I’m having this debate with myself right now between the Avion VI and Cobalt. Cobalt multipliers seem the big bonus, but the high value of Avion points is intriguing. My wife also doesn’t care about points so have to consider how to maximize our combine spending
With low annual rate for Cobalt, you can have both and use Cobalt only for eat and drink category. Especially in the first year with 30k bonus, it’s worth it

Just found this page! So I use ITA Matrix as a cross reference for finding lower taxes when flying. I flew from Vancouver to Reykjavik to London for $600, with just over a $100 in tax with my RBC Avion in August 2023. The Avion rewards website kept suggesting Air Canada and Westjet. I wonder what kind of kickbacks they get😬Iceland Air was squishy, but after 6 hours, I got a 2 hour layover to stretch my legs, before flying into Heathrow. Then, I found taxes were cheaper to fly out of Dublin back to YVR. I paid for a Veuling flight, about $50, but still cheaper than the $300 in taxes direct from London😊
Why not use the ion+ card along with the visa infinite privilege and combining the points then you will get 6% back on every dollors for groceries and dinning
Thank you! That could be what happens next year once the AMEX bonus is done. I’ve been playing around with Aeroplan points and really struggling to get anything higher than 1.5c on the routes I need, so Avion points are more valuable.
I have the cobalt card. I use it for basically everything. Only time I don’t use it is when the place I try to use it at doesn’t accept it. I’ve had it for less than a year and already have 100k points earned.
You can't get everything man, the card offers you a lot of points in some different ways. If you want the best travel card get the Amex platinum so you can have the unbeatable offer.
Thank you for stopping by. Yeah for sure, that’s why I am keeping Avion. It’s accepted where Amex doesn’t and the points end up more valuable to me than the Aeroplan points. Amex platinum has a lot more features though and priority lane in YYZ is alluring. Maybe I’ll get one for business account. Will see.
Hello, i found your content very useful i subscribed. But your channel description says USA. But your content is Canadian. Also, i have both Amex Cobalt and RBC Avion Infinite. Any benefits of using Avion in any category?
Love your comment about keeping it simple - that’s valuable - time is money
Great video, I would have liked to see how the AMEX Fixed rate travel fits into this comparison between Avion fixed and Areoplan dynamic

And yes, I used points flying, I only paid the taxes 😊

Very informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great Job! Thanks for the video.
It is worth it to keep both Avion Privilege and Amex Cobalt Card.

Solid card for the category
Well done!

Hi thanks for your video! Just wondering how did you get a refund on the RBC card's annual fee?
If you have a VIP checking account they refund you $120, I am not sure if this standard or my banker did it
The problem with Amex is most businesses don’t accept Amex…
I am only using Amex for groceries and restaurants. Metro and Uber Eats both accept it
Most? Are you drunk?
You look like a dollar store Mr clean
Haha, well there are good deals at dollar store
Avion is trash
