The earlier edition of Aerosmith awaits: "Mama Kin" "Train Kept A-Rollin" "Same Old Song and Dance" "Walk This Way" "Toys in the Attic" "Back in the Saddle" "Rats in the Cellar" "Lick and a Promise" "Get It Up" the autobiographical "No Surprize" and a song in which Steven Tyler absolutely shreds his vocal cords, "Draw the Line"

Their true comeback! They got the gang back together for "Done with Mirrors" but it wasn't until after Tyler and Perry guested on Run-DMC's cover of "Walk This Way" they really were able to hit their peak again, which they finally did with Permanent Vacation.

Aerosmith is one of the greatest bands in history, but people do not realize how talented Steven Tyler really is. That little scat line at the end of the song shows us a little of his raw soulful talent. Thanks!

Walk This Way - RUN DMC and Aerosmith: (1986)The song was a top five pop hit, sold millions of copies, and helped relaunch Aerosmith's then-faltering career. It also introduced a huge number of people to Run-DMC - and to rap music in general - paving the way for the genre's subsequent massive worldwide success. (MUST PLAY OFFICIAL VIDEO...its fun)

My little brother was in a record store in Denver when the Run DMC collaboration came out. A couple of older teenagers were telling the adult with them about this hot new group that had just put out a new single and they sure hoped they wouldn’t be a one hit wonder. They showed the guy the record and he just started laughing then said “Walk this way.” Then he took them back away from the new releases and showed them that Aerosmith had their very own section in the main part of the store.

    Steven Tyler: Lead Vocals
    Joe Perry: Lead Guitar
Brad Whitford: Rhythm and Lead Guitar
    Tom Hamilton: Bass
    Joey Kramer: Drums
Perry and Whitford left the band for one album. But, they returned and the original line up has been rocking ever since.
If you get the chance go see them. They won't disappoint.
Anything you choose is going to be good. Aerosmith is the most bad ass American band ever conceived.
    Thanks for the reaction.

Parts of this were filmed in my hometown! My now-hubby sat with his dorm-mates and watched them film the final scenes with the car going down the street. We weren’t a huge town, but Aerosmith played our local concert venue several times over the years. They said they liked the vibe there. I never saw them there, though.

They don't do many blues type songs, but when they did, they were classic. Other blues style songs to check out What It Takes (there are two versions, best one is the version that starts with them in concert), Chip Away At The Stone, My Big Ten Inch Record and Train Kept A Rollin. Also the What It Takes music video was shot in Dallas, I was at the concert with my mom when they shot it.

Permanent Vacation was a HUGE album my junior year in High school!
Another album I wore out and to replace.
I loved "Angel" and "Rag Doll" with his "Mae West" nod/impersonation "Come on over and see me" and the scatting!

The Aerosmith lineup, except for a couple of years in the late 70's and early 80's, has been Steven (Tallarico) Tyler - Lead Vocals, Piano Harmonica, Maracas, Dancing, Songwriting, etc, Joe Perry - Guitar and Vocals, Brad Whitford -Guitar and Backing Vocals, Tom Hamilton - Bass and Backing Vocals and Joey Kramer - Drums. Steve met Joe Perry when Joe was a Fry Cook at a small resort area in rural Sunapee, New Hampshire. Steve sent Joe compliments about his french fries and they they got to talking about music, and 50 plus years later they are in the R & R Hall Of Fame, toured the world multiple times and have had pretty amazing careers. P.S. Did you notice Steve was driving a real Shelby Cobra at the end. His.

My brother was listening to "Permanent Vacation" when it came out. We were both young and into hard rock and metal. I heard it through the open door and thought to myself: "Man, another awesome new band full of young talented musicians who are full of energy and are about to burst at any minute". When I found out that this was a band that had been around for 17 years and had almost disappeared from the scene by then, I couldn't believe it. "Permanent Vacation" is the best comeback album ever and I love the fact that they got the Blues.

I was one of those who asked for more Aerosmith including Rag Doll after your Love in a Elevator reaction. I`m so happy Rag Doll was picked, and there are so much more from my favorite band to recommend. Especially to continue with the official music videos.
Then "Janie`s Got a Gun" should be next after two up tempo ones now.
"What it Takes" is as good ballad as well, but the music video of "Janie`s Got a Gun" gets the first priority. As for next up tempo "(Dude) Looks Like A Lady" would be a popular request, but my patron of yours vote goes for "Walk This Way". Many hard core Aerosmith fans would still keep suggesting doing their original version of it, but please believe me:
I do feel certain that most of your followers here would rather want you to react to the music video of Run-DMC doing a cover of "Walk this Way" in collaboration with Aerosmith. It made a huge comeback for Aerosmith the year before "Rag Doll" from 1987 and is a piece of music history with it`s subgenre of rap rock.

all these Aerosmith from 80's i consider commercial POP. if you want to know them, i recommend hearing what they became famous for... the first albums... there is no comparison... i recommend TOYS IN THE ATTIC, MAMA KIN, KINGS AND QUEENS, ADAM'S APPLE, LORD OF THE THIGHS, LAST CHILD, NOBODY'S FAULT

I read the story to this song. He needed inspiration to write a song that would make the charts. He was to meet with a women who was a songwriter. She basically told him to draw his inspiration from his surroundings and experiences. So he wrote this song which became a hit.

Rag Doll from their album Permanent Vacation shares a connection to Vancouver, BC (my home town) like Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Jimmy Page and Bryan Adams. They all recorded material at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver (Heart recorded at Mushroom Records studio in Vancouver). Several Vancouver musicians were involved in the this recording. Jim Vallance played the organ on Rag Doll. Vallance also works with Bryan Adams as a co-writer on Bryan's songs. Bruce Fairbairn (RIP), the producer on Permanent Vacation, was also a trumpet player. Bruce was notable for introducing dynamic horn arrangements into rock music productions. When the musicians were in town, you would see them out and about. Nobody usually bothered them as it was apparent that they were relaxing during the recording process. - Cheers and Smiles.

      Lucky you! 😃
Although I am a native of San Francisco 🌁, I frequent Vancouver. 🇨🇦
I was in different districts when all the major musicians Bryan Adams to
Aerosmith to Loverboy were recording their hit albums.
I had my chances to meet them . I never did. 😖 But I was lucky to watch them in concerts, but not in Vancouver.

If my old memory is correct the last part of the video, him and the girl on the front porch and him driving around in the car, was filmed in Johnson City, TN. A small college town about 15 miles from my home. Anyways, they put on a killer concert at Freedom Hall Civil Center and while in town they recorded that part of the video. By the way, White Lion opened for them. Aerosmith was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
