Imagine how cool it would be to be able to thrift in the 80s. All high quality clothes from the 70s 60s 50s etc. The Kurt Cobain/grunge effect and then everyone was doing it
That bag is siiiiiick! Also, nice to see NY vintage stores have improved from the days of Beacon’s Closet. My hidden gem was Unique on Fulton St. Most days it was just moth eaten sweaters but some days it was vintage Ralph for like $8.
I feel this fit problem. My Schott perfecto is longer because I thought short was weird. Now I know I’m wrong, but now it’s been on countless motorcycle rides, concerts, it’s been my pillow while sleeping on the ground. I feel like it’s just mine now lol. Not cool guy fit, but it’s all good.
Where I live "in the midwest" it's all about vintage work shirts in khaki with chest pockets that have flaps and buttons . Same goes for very old Red Kap panel jackets that have button pockets on the chest . The work shirts are totally Indiana Jones or jungle safari and the jackets are generally vintage American gas station . You can go to thrift stores here for days and you'll be lucky to find one . Again , it's all about the pockets on the chest with the flaps that button .
I love jackets too and i know the feeling when i shouldn't ramp people to get stuff i see it suits them apsulute perfect. And this jacket was so perfect suiting that guy... Perfect fit! Shoulder and all
I remember how much I enjoyed watching your channel and now you're also making videos with Christian. As they say brother "You've come a long way baby"
The L Train Vintage on Grand brings back memories! It was pretty close to my old apartment, I'd grab coffee at Willburg Cafe with my partner before heading over for thrifting, then catch the G to Greenpoint for Beacon's! Good times.
Just made it into the city this Thursday! Should've made it out to L-Train or this "10ft Single", sound like amazing places. Guess I'll have to go back in soon. Great video as always, and actually love the soundtrack of this one.
We have a vintage store that also has insane prices, I hardly go there because of the prices. More than the prices, the place is crammed in so much you can't see what is on the racks without taking everything off. If you are ever in Toronto, Canada, you must go to Kensington Market as they have the most used clothing stores in just a few blocks.
I was going to say first but I decided to finish watching the video before commenting lol, when I was in New York I never found anything that could fit me at thrift stores, coming back in the fall tho maybe I should try more.
@@TheIronSnail there's something extra homey about a rainy dreary atmosphere around a thrift store or an antique shop. thanks for taking the time to respond and like all the comments on your videos, that's really cool of you. Also, Taylor DID look super fab in that straw hat, I hope she got it lol
I've never been to NYC but really want to go! I live on the other side of the country. Once I can I'm definitely gonna hit up some of these thrift stores, I've never found anything good locally
HmMmM depends! I was going to like expensive curated vintage shops but there are so many different things like Beacons Closet or Buffalo exchange are straight thrift stores with real cheap prices but there’s way less curation!
@@TheIronSnail thanks for the response. I’ve just noticed a lot of people recently saying things like “look at this jacket I thrifted” which implies a huge discount, and when pressed on price it’s over 100 dollars they spent at a vintage store. I’m used to buying at a thrift store being the definition of thrifted, but maybe I need to change my definition, because you aren’t the first person I’ve heard that use it this way. Maybe I’m just an old millennial hipster living in a gen z world

Imagine getting that 2k jacket and then some dude saying, hey that jacket is awesome kinda expensive though a paid almost 300 for mine... but mine has 6 buttons.
I spent several hours in 10ft single a few weekends ago and found absolutely nothing for women over a size medium. So it definitely leaves a lot to be desired in terms of accessibility and size inclusivity.
I wouldn't use the term "thrift store" to describe the places visited. I would use the term "high-priced NYC vintage clothing store."

Beacons Closet & Buffalo Exchange are the places where you still really hunt! These places it’s like fish in a barrel
That is very generous of you to show your favorite spots.
Together we can all get the best deals!

Did Ronnie pass up a legitimate WW2 A2 jacket!? Madness. Good job staying calm! And, yes, we love the thrifting content!

Good tips on the vintage shop! Love that type 1, ya know for the history. Might do a sale on my OF so i can cop
Quick OF sale for a Type I sounds like a solid plan tbh
Great bag! Hope you take great care of it
Hey Mike, what jacket were you wearing when Ronnie was in the mirror. Looks a lot like an old type 2 to me.

What can I say!
Hey mike. Could you define thrifting? I was wondering, what is your definition was? Is it just buying second hand? I’m just curious. Thanks
