This is exactly what I thought and I looked to the comments to see if someone already commented it.
I think the problem was that you left the flag on top that you were using to think. Because of that flag, there were already 3 flags surrounding the block you ground pounded. So when the game saw that you hit the block with a 3 in it, it saw that it was already satisfied by the 3 flags around it, so it automatically also revealed the block beneath it, since if those 3 flags were correct that block would be safe. However, since the flag on top was just there for you thinking and turned out to not actually be a bomb, the block below the 3 was actually a bomb, and since the game revealed it automatically you lost.
So basically always remember to remove the flags you put when you're thinking.

In addition to what Markass said for the advanced board:
The 2 above the flagged tile borders two mines: the one in the flagged tile, and one of two unmarked tiles next to it.
The 1 directly above that 2 borders three tiles, but because of the first fact, we know that only the bottom two tiles could have the mine.
Thus, the top tile doesn't have the mine, and we can clear it.
Also, once you pressed the tile at 5:30, then the tiles directly above and below it were also clear because one of the other three tiles surrounding it had to be a mine. This is because of the string of 1s.
This is hard to explain without pictures jeez

For those wondering, Simple got zucced because he had an extra flag down. In some versions of minesweeper, if you hit a square, and the number in the square equals the number of adjacent flags, it automatically opens all adjacent unflagged spaces, even if they’re wrong.
So Simple ground pounded a three with three flags around it because he forgot to remove his demonstration flag, so the game opened the adjacent bomb due to him having three flags around the three.
Try minesweeper expert again but on the actual program so you don't get zuc
actually I would say to use something other than the official minesweeper so you can't get zuc immediately by random chance and so you have the ability to use some more modern things that make the game a bit easier where it should be effortless (ie, you can click on the numbers to click on all of the non-bombs if you have flagged the requisite number of bombs around it, but this also kills you if you flag a non-bomb, or you can right click on a number with the exact number of hidden panels around it as the number is and it flags all of those)
4:40 One tile up from where mario is standing (2:5 relative to the board) is 100% safe. The 2 next to mario says that either mario is standing on a bomb or the bomb is one tile down from him. Then, the 1 right of mario must be referring to the bomb in one of these two and as such the one I was talking about must be safe.
Same story with 2:3 at 5:10, it's also 100% safe.
The 1 at 3:1 says that either Mario is standing on a bomb or the bomb is above him and the 1 right of Mario must therefore be referring to one of those 2 tiles and the one bellow Mario is safe.

With that in mind, if the bottom part had a mine in A7 and another mine in B6, it would require to have a mine in B3 so that column does indeed have "1", but we previously stated that can't be possible
Once we figure that out, there is a mine in B7, and from that we know there's another one in B4 and anther one in B1. We just need to uncover the numbers surrounding those mines to find the last mine
5:30. You uncover a "1" in A5, which means there are no extra mines in A4, A6, B5 and B6

The 1 at the top states that of the 2 squares it touches, only 1 can have a bomb. However, the 1 below it says the same statement with the previous 2 squares, and includes the square below this. To keep the first 1s statement correct, a bomb cannot be in the 3rd square down, thus making is safe.
give minesweeper another go! careful with ground-pounding numbers though, it's probably programmed so that if you ground pound a number and there are that many flags around the number it will reveal unflagged tiles around it. That's how it is when you middle click on the original minesweeper
It is in fact programmed to do that. Though ideally, it wouldn't trigger that in the same ground pound as the tile reveal. Debugging it is a real pain, as no n64 emulators have gdb stubs.
Simple just sits there and listens while a natural disaster happens.

15:20 I didn't check the mechanics of this hack (nor remember those of the original Minesweeper), but if we look closer, ᴺᵃᵗʰᵃⁿᶦᵉˡ ᴮᵃⁿᵈʸ ᵉᵛᵉʳʸᵗᶦᵐᵉ you can see that another non-mine tile was revealed after the ground-pound (the 3 through the bottom-right corner). I think you can forcefully "trigger" all the adjacent tiles whenever you ground-pound a revealed number, as long as said tile has *exactly* the same amount of flags adjacent to it. When you revealed the 3, it realized there were already 3 flags next to it, so it thought it could also directly trigger all the remaining neighbor tiles safely.
It may be a bug (triggering an unrevealed tile should *only* reveal said tile), or it may be intended, but I think that'd be a logical explanation. In the first case, it could be because the tile may have already been revealed (as a mine or not) in a previous game, and therefore, combined with the correct amount of flags, allowed neighbor tiles to be triggered as well.
The fun in minesweeper is the problem solving you use to progress the game. I would love to see more minesweeper hack vids!

15:23. The reason is that this version of Minesweeper has a special feature of auto uncovering. You already had a wrong mine flagged to the right of the "2". When you ground pounded, it automatically uncovered all blocks around that 2, and when you ground pounded a 3 with 3 adjacent flags, it automatically uncovered all blocks surrounding that 3

At 4:55 the way it could have been done without guessing that the bottom right was correct is by using the fact that there are two 2's and both of them already have one, but dont have their adjacent bomb flagged. With that known, and there being a 3, that forces the only possibility to be in the bottom right square as its the only square that satisfies all three numbers, as the three already has two squares marked on it and to have one in the bottom right would force it to be a 4 as the 2 checks it

A year late, but at 6:20 you didnt have to guess.
The two options at the bottom with the 3 and the two 2s were either the one directly above the 3 or both next to that one (thats how far simpleflips got aswell)
The only way for the line of 1s to be true is for there to be a bomb square followed by two non bomb squares. Also there has to be a bomb square in either of the top two squares for the 1 against the top wall to be true. So if we run both possible patterens by the three up the line of ones than we can see that the second option would leave both the top most tiles bombless, which is impossible, so only option one was possible there.

I’m using 4:51 for reference.
The 2 tile behind Mario has two squares to hold its last bomb: the square Mario is on, and the one to his right. From the screen’s perspective, there is a 1 tile just one up from the 2. That 1 is near both squares that could be that 2’s second bomb. That means that the third open tile next to the 1 has to be safe, because the 2 can only have its bomb there, and the 1 cannot have a second bomb. If Mario turns right, and then goes two squares forward, he will hit the safe tile. Whatever that tile is, you can go two 1’s further down the line to find a 1 now in the exact same situation that the 2 was in. That means you can look at the next 1 and see the third open tile that will be safe. From where Mario is on screen, he can turn right and go 5 squares to hit the second safe tile. One square further is the square on the edge, and the 1 to the right of it determines that the edge square is a bomb, since the second safe square removed leaves the 1 with the edge tile as its last possible bomb square. After those two tiles are revealed, it may or may not become a guessing game from there.
Edit: later on in the video, it reveals both of these tiles, and it shows it would be a guessing game, but there were ways to put odds in your favor from the fact that only four bombs remained. The edge bomb is one. Two other bombs were not located, but were limited to an area of two squares each. The second safe square reveals a 2, and the second bomb for the 2 would either be the bomb beside it that was limited to two squares, or in one of the three remaining open tiles near it. If the 2’s second bomb is the former, then the fourth bomb is still somewhere. It could be the bottom left open tile, but it is still not certain where it is. However it is most likely for the squares not touching any of the revealed tiles (not including the first safe tile) to be safe, and can be picked off until one of the bombs are made certain to be somewhere.

The fact an earthquake happened during this is astonishing. The more intriguing part is that he just kept going even while it was going on, even despite the short pause to focus on the camera and everything else shaking. That's some epic gameplay right there!

Dang, that second board! Something that people always forget to do when playing minesweeper is to look at how many bombs are left on the board. In your case, you had 4 bombs left. You still had to guess either way, but statistically speaking you had very good odds of getting the pattern that you did, which in this case led you to victory.

I think you should give it another go. You were learning some good minesweeper logic at the end and were correctly finding safe spaces without relying on chat - you've come a long way from the first minesweeper video. These videos are still entertaining and it's pretty good content for the RUclips audience since you can cut and edit the vods.
