I found your youtube a few weeks ago and Im hooked, the level of love, knowledge, care and technique you put in the dolls is incredible. Your work is truly amazing, seeing the dolls come to live and not only come to live as they were but looking incredibly even better is something I take great pleasure. YOU ARE A MASTER GIRL!
Quick tip for anyone who deals with 1960s Barbies when comes to the shoes. Specifically, the mules never just put them right on their feet. they will split on top 90% of the time. You need to put them in boiling water for for about a min ( they will not melt) and put Barbie‘s feet in boiling water for just a few seconds just enough to soften then place the shoes back on it will reshape the plastic of the shoes, and you don’t have to worry about them splitting, you don’t have to do this every time just the first time.
Aww thank you so much! I really appreciate you! I’m going to have to take that statement into my next restoration! Because the next three dolls I’m working on look mighty grim!
Thank you! Which is why I wasn’t afraid of messing up because truly there wasn’t anything else I could’ve done! I’m happy my ideas work lol 😂 because a body donor for her would’ve taken some time to get!
What a treasure you found! Barbie definitely needed a good spa day and now she looks very mindful and very demure! I had to say it. 😅 She’s absolutely stunning now! 🎉
$50!?!?!?!? That is amazing! I'm waiting to find a good deal like that. So far, I know three collectors that found amazing dolls for a steal. A #3 for $17, a no-bang Francie for $4 and a Brownette for $40. I'm keeping my eyes peeled lol
I found my no bangs for 40$! She was in bad shape and was wearing a Joe Namath outfit lol 😂 I got my number 1 for 2,500. Which at the time I thought was overpaying, but now not so much. And I got 3 platinum AG dolls, two bubbles, 4 fashion queens, and 1 midge for 100$ once. I love finding good deals! Unfortunately though, I do think I’ll be selling her. Now she can bless another collector with her new clean smart look!
You are exactly my type of Barbie collector. You stay true to the integrity of the dolls you restore. You take your time. You're knowledgable. You're meticulous. Keep it up, girly! Also, AGs are my absolute favorite vintage Barbies. Still need to add a side part to my collection
Thank you so much! I try to keep the history alive. I try to take the approach of restoration just like an art conservator. Where you try not to add too much if any of yourself and let the original artists work shine! And I think she shines:) it’s all in the details. I’m lucky enough to have worked on so many Barbie’s, and also blessed to have been given skills probably based off my artist background. I’ve always wanted to make art that made people happy, and I think this is an outlet where I can do that! I really appreciate you so much for being here! And also, I never thought I’d have one so I’m sure yours is just around the corner!
I love to watch you repaint their faces. Im NOT an artist and hate to say it but im pretty jealous of all you artist out there. You do such beautiful work !!❤❤❤
I’ve been collecting for 10 years now but only recently starting to explore restoring. This is the most watchable and clearly instructive videos I’ve come across so far. Looking forward to going through you playlist and improving my skills. Thanks 😊
Thank you so much!! I’m so happy you like how she turned out!! And yes isn’t that exciting?:) my first time making an add too. I really don’t know what I’m doing per usual lol 😂
@@disneybarbiegirl615 I have learnt a lot from your channel in the past few months. And you inspired me to restyle some of my old Barbies. I'm glad that your talent has been discovered by more and more people!!!🥰
Amazing restoration! I look forward to a dedicated repainting video, but I learned a lot from you here:) I appreciate the knowledge and history tidbits you share. 💕
I enjoyed watching your tutorial on how to restore Barbie’s. I have bought over 20 vintage Barbie’s that I put them in my curio cabinet waiting for the right moment til I am ready to restore them one day. I bought several dolls I would like to practice on them first before I get enough practicing before I start in my vintage ones. Thank you for sharing your skills and I just subscribed.
WOW! what a great purchase! Great job with everything specially the hair, I have a Fashion Queen "American Girl" wig and I've been flippin it out like midge this whole time! Thank you for the hair tutorial! When you see me do this on my American Girl wig stylin video, it was because of you Girl! Thank you!
I would love to see a video dedicated solely on restoring aVintage Barbie doll’s makeup. Your advice on diluting the paint and layer it on was extremely helpful to me. What product did you use to spray her makeup once completed?
New subscriber! Love your restoration knowledge and fun sense of humor. If I could make a request, I would love to see a video on how you wash Barbie clothes. Thanks! 😊
Such a fabulous restoration! I love how you fixed her legs. Have you ever fixed a leg that was missing the knob? I need to replace/build a knob for a doll leg. I'm thinking of trying your recipe of super glue and baking soda. What do you think???
Absolutely your videos are the best I’ve seen so far on RUclips please can you do more models hair restoration especially the flip hairstyle on a Barbie if you could do that I would be so pleased. Thank you so much for doing.
This has been one of your best videos yet!! They should make a reproduction of her so more people can get such a unique doll!! Also you gave so many subscribers on my goodness!!
Who else would we have thought of as the quintessential American girl back then other than Doris Day? When using the glueless method of rerooting, if you use a rooting needle that's too big, it makes a hole that's large enough to allow the hair to pull back out when you brush it. I've seen some dolls that have been done with needles so large it actually created a tear line like between sheets of paper towel. The needles made for full sized baby dolls do NOT work on Barbies!! I got my first Barbie in 64 and as a collector, love your videos.
I went to a doll show today. I did get a late 90s early 2000s Barbie and her hair was in a ponytail for who knows how long. I washed her. I conditioned her hair. I did the boil wash. She’s still air drying but the bump is still there. Should I do it again? Also her head keeps falling back a little. I remember you doing the super glue technique.
@@disneybarbiegirl615 it’s not poly. Maybe saran or something else. It was easy to brush through and it came out soft. I dipped her in the hot water. Maybe I should have poured the water.
Yes I do, but what is the real difference is the texture. The modern saran is a lot softer in most cases than vintage saran. But we have to remember, saran as a hair fiber was relatively new and of the highest quality, mainly for durability, when Barbie was new. We can look at saran from the 80s, and it varies. Sometimes it’s waxy, sometimes it’s silky, but in all cases is the same weight and thickness. Vintage Saran, although truthfully I believe it was made of a more corse fiber, is easier to curl. Whereas new Saran has to be heated pretty well and dried before it holds form. Hope that helps!

Great job!! Unfortunately, I could hear poor Barbie screaming when you inserted the huge needle!!😮😢Yikes!!!
Oh no! Sorry
You're very talented💖. Did you teach yourself to do doll restoration?
Yes I did! When I started there were no tutorials lol 😂 there was a lot of trial and error!
I have a Cool Shavin' Ken whos legs have fallen off, do you think that leg repair you did would work with legs with a ball joint in the hips?
With that I’m not so familiar as I never seen that happen before!! I may have to ponder that one!

Do you find modern saran has the same thickness as vintage? I feel like my vintage girls have this super thick fiber but I mostly work with nylon

Who is the cutie on the floor?! I got distracted 😂
That’s probably my kitty Marge, she’s my shadow, just always out of reach!
Ty for the tutorial… SNL- “Buh-Bye”… remember?
Wow..again!! Would you do the same sort of hairstyle on a bubble cut? I have a titian girl that needs a restyle.
Yes I would!! Curl under and after the set is boil washed brush it out and train it in place with your comb and finger!
@@disneybarbiegirl615 Will do. I just wanted to add that I used your hair reroot method and the glue and baking powder, fantastic! Thank you!
