Negative on the crank seal, we just do it since we're there as preventative maintenance and that passenger side mount does not really support much weight so I remove it without a jack under the oil pan. If it seems like it's sagging excessively though, it wouldn't hurt to put a jack under there to support things until you remove it.
Great video. I have the same 2014 Accord V6 with 83k. The dealer told me it was time for a timing belt based on years(7yr). Have you seen many timing belts break based on 7-10 years? I live in the Northeast NY area so not sure if the weather plays a big role. I was hoping to wait until 100K miles. Also, how many hours are this job timing belt, water pump, and tensioner? The dealer wants $1900 including parts, which seems a bit high. Any advice is appreciated, Thanks.
That seems a bit high. We recommend t-belts based on the same schedule though. 7 years or 100k-ish, which ever comes first. I haven't seen any J series belts break but I have seen teeth shear off. Don't remember the mileage on those but they were pretty old. I'd say you're probably ok but plan on doing it within the next 15k. This particular car was one of the easier J series timing belts I have done, takes me a few hours but I also have a lot of experience and can knock these out fast. I don't know our exact pricing but I think our shop charges $1200-ish for this job parts and labor.
What tool setting did you use to take off the 10mm bolts on the upper timing covers? I am having hard time doing that. Maybe because I haven't taken off the engine foot mount section?
I only touch them if they're leaking or if I have to disturb the cam shaft (remove the cams), otherwise, I leave them alone, in my experience, J series cam seals almost never leak, even very old and high mileage ones.
Hi have the same car 3.5 V6, Accord with 88K and the dealer tells me I have an oil pump seal leak($1500), can that be changed while the timing belt job is done, is it in the same area, and, how much more time/ labor would to change oil pump seal. Otherwise, it's $1500 for the oil pump seal and $1500 for the timing belt job if done separately. Thank you.
Those jobs definitely overlap and should be done at the same time. Doing the oil pump seal involves removing the exhaust and the oil pan, so it's a decent amount more labor involved . But you can't do that oil seal without first removing all the stuff to do the timing belt/ water pump. ruclips.net/video/ZsGBgx8JFOE/видео.html
As seen here a dealership will run 1500 to 2000 bucks in 2024. The job will be guaranteed to be done right. Independent shops you'll save a few hundred, just conduct due diligence they are reputable
Looks like your removing tensioner pulley, tensioner etc. from underneath the car while it’s in the air. How did you support the engine after you removed the motor mount?
Love doing these jobs, as long as there's no surprises, it's always quick and easy.
That was a lot of work... even with the right tools. HONDA messed up putting a timing belt instead of a timing chain on the v6. Thanks for the video
Glad it helped.
It looks like it went smoothly! Great work!
Thanks dude, no hiccups thankfully 🙏
Excellent skilled tasks. I wish I am younger again to try doing that jobs for my 2014 Accord V6.
Only 76653 miles so far.
This was perfect for what I gotta do for my car!
Glad it was helpful
A couple of questions: Do you have to change the crank seal, is there a jack under the engine before removing the motor mount?

Here's a comment and a like for YT algorithm gods.
Love the music, love the videos 🔥
Thanks 🙏

Love this video, will you be doing a valve cover gasket job on this vehicle?
Not this car specifically but if I get one scheduled for me, I'll be sure to film it.
Does the car need to be in drive or neutral to turn the crank bolt to tdc?
If it's a manual, it has to be in neutral, otherwise, just leaving it in Park is fine.
Thanks for the clarification!
I saw 35k miles on the car, why did you changed to timing belt so soon? just curious ..Great Video!!
That crank bolt is a son of a biscuit without air tools.
Great video.

Do you need to replace the cam shaft seals?
I only touch them if they're leaking or if I have to disturb the cam shaft (remove the cams), otherwise, I leave them alone, in my experience, J series cam seals almost never leak, even very old and high mileage ones.
Does the engine need support after you take the engine mount off?
No, it only drops about an inch or less in most cases.
did you have to do crank relearn procedure?
In my experience, after a timing belt job, I've never had to do that. Usually that's done after replacing the sensor.

@@daveclark8337 thank you for info now got to find someone who can work on the Accord and less then the dealership $3100
How many miles have to replace timing belt on that car ?
Usually around 100k.
How much would this service typically cost?

Put a floor jack under the oil pan
There's 2 other motor mounts still supporting it, so just removing that one doesn't allow the engine to move much.
@@daveclark8337 is it safe enough u think? I think maybe to use that engine support bar tool on a top that stands on a fenders?
@@nazigrammar9728the video creator responded it wasn't necessary to support the engine further in another comment
Assume you meant water pump not oil pump
