The best travel advice I ever got was from Mireille. She is spot on and its based on her travels not on what she read or heard. 100% the best travel advisor on the planet.
this was helpful, thank you! I’m gonna be solo travelling to Costa Rica next month and I’m kinda worried about the busses lol. If there’s no public info about the bus schedule, how do I know when my bus to the next town is? Just go to the station really early?
When you leave San Jose and arrive at your destination; that station will have info about the local buses. Also…ask a local that you see at the bus stop; most super friendly.
Thanks for demystifying the Public Bus system. Is it safe to take the Bus from airport SJO to downtown in the night, so you can stay closer to the Bus you need to catch in the morning? Or do you recommend staying close to the airport and take the bus from airport to San Jose Bus Station in the morning. Where can I find that schedule? Thank you.
Hi there! Do you have any info about busses from Liberia International Airport? Thank you so much for your advice its helping me plan my trip! Costa Rica can seem a little daunting as everybody says you HAVE to rent a car. But I dont believe it!
Hello! OMG!! Thank you for the helpful advice!! May I ask you a question? If I wanted to take a bus from the SJO airport to Playa Hermosa (via Filadelfia) do I simply wait at the SJO airport for a bus to take me to Alajuela bus stop (known as the Radial)? Or do I take a taxi to Alajuela bus stop?
Hi. I want to know if there is a bus going from La Fortuna to Tamarindo?? 2nd question is a bus from Tamarindo heading to Puntarenas bus terminal ?? thank you
Excellent video. You have covered all the information that are essential for bus riders. I have a question. My flight arrives at 11 pm. I would like to spend the night at the airport. Will I be allowed to stay at the airport overnight? Thank you
I do not know if they will let you stay overnight. There are a lot of flights that leave in the middle of the night so it’s seems like the answer is most likely yes.
Apologies. I meant from San JOSE. but I ended up taking a cab from the airport to la radial alajuela and it took us to Liberia with only a couple of stops on the way.
Go to the bus station that heads to Uvita and buy a ticket at the window. Look at the lists in this video for which bus line. Just go a couple hours early and you’ll get a spot. Or if you are in the area, go the day before.

Excellent relevant information. Seems very reasonable to travel in CR especially compared to some Asian countries like India or Vietnam.
Thank you for the information
Excellent advice and information 👍
Gracias!
Viajes muy interesantes y seguros. Gracias por compartir!
I will be back in Costa Rica in September.
The hardest part is finding bus stations & buying ticket
Have a look at the maps I highlighted and the timetables I included. Do you need some help?

I’d suggest you sleep close to the airport and travel to downtown San Jose in the morning. The TUASA bus comes to the airport every 20 minutes or so.

You walk in front of the airport to take the TUASA bus to downtown San Jose. Then you walk to the bus company that will take you to your destination.

Do you know if there is a bus station near Liberia airport?! 🙏
The bus terminal in Liberia is called Pulmitan de Liberia S.A. I imagine a local bus will go from Liberia airport to the bus terminal.
Hola. La bandera del emoji esta mal. Es la de tailandia.
