A Hike Through Cahuita National Park
Cahuita National Park is a destiny, where the warm turquoise waters fuse with white sand beaches and a splendour of green jungle. In 1970 it was declared a National Monument with the purpose of protecting the tropical flora and fauna, the coral reefs and several marine ecosystems. Cahuita’s National Park is dedicated to the conservation of species and also used for recreation. It is catalogued as Humid Tropical Forest, according to Holdridge’s classification of life zones. It has several important habitats such as the swamp lands, which are in most of Punta Cahuita’s lands and lodges species like the cativos, the Banak tree or the mangrove; or coastal vegetation, with abundance of coconut...

The decision had been made in Guatemala and it took several weeks for the news to travel all the ...

Nice! I'm impressed that you got your weight that low. May I ask what pack you use and what it weighs? Mine is nearly 3 lbs, which makes 10 lbs loaded feel unattainable.

Thanks! My bag is the Scrambler RT35 by Mountain Hard Wear. It has a roll top and is waterproof. I think it weighs about one pound but I’m not exactly sure. I’ve had this bag for about six years and I love it. It also has a decent waist strap with two pockets. Buen Camino!

Thanks for demystifying the Public Bus system. Is it safe to take the Bus from airport SJO to downtown in the night, so you can stay closer to the Bus you need to catch in the morning? Or do you recommend staying close to the airport and take the bus from airport to San Jose Bus Station in the morning. Where can I find that schedule? Thank you.

I’d suggest you sleep close to the airport and travel to downtown San Jose in the morning. The TUASA bus comes to the airport every 20 minutes or so.

If I wanted to take a bus from the SJO airport to Playa Hermosa (via Filadelfia) do I simply wait at the SJO airport for a bus to take me to Alajuela bus stop (known as the Radial)? Or do I take a taxi to Alajuela bus stop?
