  • This video shows me installing a Dobeck Performance Electronic Jet Kit to make sure the bike is running with an optimally rich mixture (having installed the FMF full pipe and carried out the air-box mod...).

    Easy peasy just like you said. Thankfully being a crazy old witch I have small hands and was able to disconnect/connect the bobbins without any issues. OMG the difference it makes in fuel consumption and output from the Yoshi.

    Another great vid. PS all cable ties are reusable you just have to lift the gripper off with a small jewellers screwdriver or, provided you haven’t cut them short, you can use the end of the cable tie itself as it will slip under the gripper. It’s fiddly but does work.

      My father (in Norfolk) just told me it's a sunny day today too, 'fraid it's not here in South Bucks!! :0( Never the less I did still grab a 20 minute test ride...the bike is transformed from the stock machine with these mods. From the dealer the thing was gutless, now it's a beast! Money well spent and good fun playing with the bike too, sometimes simple is good (wouldn't dream of fiddling with my GS in the same way).....thanks for watching, all the best - TMF

    Well....couldnt get my EJK unplugged....struggled like crazy in the 95 degree heat....but went and got my nephew with smaller hands and he was able to get it off and plug it in for me......got all green lights when I fired it up......they must have Japanese midgets or children putting these bikes together with tiiny hands.....lol....Im good to go now.....I actually unplugged the wrong thing that I thought was the injector up front and the black ejk end wouldnt fit on it and I struggled and struggled until I found another utube video that showed me I had unplugged the wrong thing.....lol......gosh this was much harder than I thought it was gonna be.....lol...it certainly was FIDDLEY, which is not an american expression, but I completely understand the meaning now.....lol

    Hi, I am really loving your vids, I have just bought a 2015 crf250l and the fuel bar started flashing for the first time at 90 miles. I have an ejk and air box filters sitting waiting until after the first service but now wondering if the tank range will be far too short because of the mods. Can you tell me what your range is now? I also have a 2012 speed triple but a dream collection like yours is just a pipe dream for me!(lol). Keep up the good work. Thanks Patrick.

      Glad you approve - and yes I do recommend the bike as a do it all weekend and green lane toy (though depends on what you mean by do-it-all, 'cos it won't do a track day, cruise at high motorway speeds or carry loads of kit). If you want a fun ride, a great commuter, a toy to tinker with, something you can ride anywhere, then the little Honda is the bike for you!

    I'm curious as to whether the EJK could increase your performance with the K&N filter and better flowing exhaust. You note below that you are "running with the stock settings the EJK comes pre-programmed with for the CRF with stage 2 mods". If you put the EJK into a higher performance mode, maybe you'd see some increases in performance? I'd be interested to know ...
    P.S. Really enjoying your videos. Excellent work and the footage - especially the UK countryside - is outstanding. I'm from the US, but recently found your channel and can't stop watching. Gives me great memories of a trip to the UK a while ago. Thank you.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      Well I wouldn't recommend it from a performance enhancement point of view - with it's stock settings it made no noticeable difference for me. Of course I don't know what the long term prognosis would have been for my bike if I didn't use it - running the bike with a lean mix long term may not have done the engine any good, plus of course if I had been bothered to fiddle with the EJK settings maybe I would get a noticeable difference. On balance I would recommend it on engine protection alone, getting your air/fuel ratio correct is important for the longevity of your engine.....

      Chris Maxwell Hi Chris - I used to have an XJ6, great bike! I haven't noticed any power increase with the EJK to be fair, but with some fiddling I'm sure it would make a difference - if only to get the fuel mixture right for the country where you live/make it run less lean..do they do an EJK specifically for the XJ6 then???....cheers for watching/commenting - TMF

    I have an important question this time.....lol.....On the EJK website on the page that is specifically for the crf250l ejk settings, it refers to a Stage 1 modification and supplies the settings for that, but it doesnt say exactly what this stage 1 mod. is that I can find.....Is the stage 1 just the fmf, header, and air box mod, or is something else involved or not included.....?? Also I didnt see you changing your green, yellow, red settings at all, but the EJK website for stage 1 mods gives certain adjustments to enter into the ejk such as 2.0 or 1.5 or whatever....

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  9 лет назад

      +Eric Dealano Hi Eric, My understanding is "stage 1" mods are the FMF Header and tail end + the air-box mod and that the EJK is set up for these specifically tuned for the CRF 250L out of the box, if you buy the EJK version for the CRF 250L (but I'll look again at the website in case I'm wrong!).....all the best - TMF

      Stephen Arseneau See my other answer - maybe a 7-10% hit?? But the bike only sips fuel anyway....

    Doesn't the air box bottleneck further in? My logic is telling me it doesn't matter how big you make the initial box opening if the secondary opening is smaller (I've just got my first bike crf250 so figuring out what I actually need to do)

      Ok sweet I may just overlook that little mod for now then. Probably would make the bike sound a bit different with a larger initial intake though? I really don't know. Just got the bike and used your videos to inform my purchase, 250Ls are a great bike! Thanks!

      Hi Eric, I believe it's necessary if you want to get the most out of your CRF after the mods - technically I don't think you'll do any serious harm to your machine if you don't fit one. Enjoy the bike and ride safe! - TMF

    Does this EJK controller increase the performance of a stock bike or is it just a waste of money on a completly stock bike?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 лет назад +4

      Waste of money in my opinion, it really just serves to get the mixture right for a modded bike, in my case I didn't notice any difference having installed it (and they are relatively expensive gadgets) - if your bike is stock then the mixture will already be optimal ex-factory.

      May help Eric, I have heard of this before and my bike quits on me for no reason sometimes (very rarely though) usually when rolling right off the throttle. Consensus is that the throttle idle control is set too low as stock...only happened to me a couple of times so I've not bothered trying to adjust.....

    • @iveseenum2

    Hi TMF, ive just modified my airbox and opted for the yoshimura system on my CRF250L and now looking to purchase an EJK. Where did you buy yours from? UK or USA? how much was it and how much import tax did you have to pay? Many thanks, Gaz

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      I bought mine via EJK and I seem to remember they directed me via a Dutch importer and I think that got around import tax - it was a while back though so my memory is sketchy. Think the EJK was around £200....

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  9 лет назад +7

      It's just a bit of fun Glenn - there's all sorts of reason why the little Honda makes sense to buy over other more sprightly dirt bikes (long service intervals measured in 1000's miles not hours, road legal with lights and mirrors, cheap to purchase new, to name but 3)...besides, my other bikes are plenty more powerful if HP is all I'm after....cheers for watching and commenting, all the best - TMF

    • @TheMurseNerd
      @TheMurseNerd 5 лет назад

      What a comment. If you don't have anything nice to say.... In 2017 + models of the crf250l Honda engineers realized their mistake with their narrow head pipe and essentially did what he is accomplishing here. That is why the newer bikes have more power out of the box. Can get over 25% more power and the resulting reaponsiveness with new exhaust and a fuel controller. Check out the dyno vids. I don't deny Honda may have done this in a more polished and fuel effiecient way but I'd never make fun of a guy for doing it himself not wanting to throw money at a new bike every year.
