Hey Pete - don’t apologize for promoting Dreams or any of your sponsors. You are providing amazing content across many streams and you wouldn’t be able to do this without the financial support of these sponsor. We love it all. No apologies needed! Keep doing what ya do
I enjoyed this discussion. Suggestion for the future would be to discuss the actual process and how that would play out during a vacation. For example, dining and tickets in combination with the rental. How does it affect My Disney Experience app, if at all? Is the reservation in the renter’s name or the owner’s name? Do you have to pay for parking? Are DVC lounges available to those renting? I think it would also be beneficial to discuss that you don’t receive housekeeping while staying DVC. I know the answer to these questions, but these are the most FAQs I see related to renting points.
I'm glad you addressed the cancellation policy. On some DVC fan websites, this was MAJOR issue in 2020, with some rental companies not being as transparent as the could be. They either kept the renter's money or offered vouchers with many restrictions with a "take it or leave it" policy. Maybe you could devote an entire episode to this issue??? As a renter of DVC points, this is concern of mine and could affect DVC rentals in the future.
This year has has so many changes... making the rental process simple and easy is going to make it much more accessible. To keep up with AB&B cancellation options are needed.
The only time renting a villa direct from Disney was less expensive for me than renting points was when I had a pin code. I'm really excited about the new cancellation policy at DVC rental store. If I decide to rent points for next year's trip, I'll be checking with DVC rental store first because of the new policy.
Great conversation! I just recently rented points - such great savings when you compare to rack rate...or simply staying on the hotel side at some of these resorts. Love the addition of World of DVC to these conversations
Question- if renting points for pre booked dates. Can you still use Disney gift cards and/or Disney via and get the 6 months to pay interest free? When/if fast pass comes back, id there still the 60 day window and on property perks?
Hey Leann! If you are looking at purchasing a pre-booked confirmed reservation, you are actually paying DVC Rental Store and more specifically the DVC owner for those points and not Disney. That being said, Disney Gift Cards cannot be used to complete that reservation purchase. In terms of other benefits, etc. like FastPass+, you would definitely be able to make those selections as well as dining reservations and more! Hope this helps :)
It depends. Most hard to get times are booked at 11 months by DVC members. If you want to go at that time say 6 months out there is no availability. You can’t get a room. Or a Member might have a reservation booked, but something comes up and they cannot go, they’ll put up the reservation at a reduced price, to stop points going into holding, or not able to bank them, so points could go unused and lost.
If the points are not yours and you cannot get in and book the reservation yourself, then you will likely have to waitlist. The reason is because availability changes quickly, sometimes within seconds. However, if you see prebooked dates that coincidentally match your travel dates, resort and room type at the price you want, then you’re golden. It’s a rare find.
Lucie is 100% correct! Renting a confirmed reservation in some cases will allow you to get a hard-to-find reservation for a specific time period or holiday in the resort you want. It can also save you a ton of money on booking something last minute! In those scenarios, owners are likely renting because their points will expire soon and are willing to rent that trip out at a lower price.
Love watching the shows. Keep up the great job. This is the best content on RUclips.

I just rented from DVC Rental Store for the first time. Stayed at Bay Lake Tower for the first time and it was an amazing experience!

@@paulkrieger Thank you Paul!! Very much appreciated for the insight and explanation!! That all makes sense :D
What is the benefit of renting pre-booked dates vs. just picking your own dates with rented points?
Availability. Particularly last minute.
