The song is from 2010. It was on the soundtrack for a Lebron James documentary and EMINEM added it as a track on the bonus CD for his Relapse album. He scrapped Relapse 2 and took the seven best songs from it and re-released Relapse with those songs on the bonus CD to hold fans over while he recorded Recovery.

Want a lil backstory?
This song (2009) was very special for hip hop because it was *the* moment when Eminem returned. His Encore album (2004) wasn't well received and after that Proof died so he disappeared from the public eye for years. Drug addiction, grieving, ODing in 2007, you know it already. After that he returned with the album Relapse (2009) that people, uhh, didn't get. It was basically a Netflix documentary about serial killers but in music form. That's not what the audience been waiting for. And this song that released soon after the album was the moment when fans understood that Eminem is finally back. And yea, this verse was so good other rappers on this very song indirectly admitted that they couldn't stand their ground with him.
Fun fact: in Eminem's most recent song (Doomsday pt. 2, 2024, you can check it out yourself, no reaction needed i think) there was a line: "But I'm not tryna be controversial, I'd rather talk about shit with the purpose that matters, like who had the second best verse on "Forever"

if you didn't like relapse you are a casual, the rhyme schemes, flows and storytelling were top notch
@@ezelegui7901 I love how all Relapse fans are some sort of cultists that repeat few of the same exact phrases. Nobody said Relapse was bad or that I didnt like it but arguing with the fact it was extremely different from all his previous and following works is dumb. It is not what people wanted and that's exactly why it got received coldly even though it's a good album

Relapse is my favorite Eminem album, but everyone knows Eminem killed this track. That's not even debatable. Kanye famously rewrote his verse after he heard Eminem was gonna be on it.
And if you really want a good Forever reference, The Fall is much better. "The fans waited for this moment, like that feature when I stole the show. Sorry if I took Forever"

Even if you put subject matter to the side for a moment, it’s darn near impossible to beat EM on a track because of his cadence / flow. He’s almost too perfect in his ability to find pockets within a melody.. To the point where his vocals become another instrument within the instrumental.

@@TheIcemanthomas all bias aside, speaking from a strictly music theory perspective there is zero glazing. If you completely throw out the subjective portion of the matter and gauge solely on the technicals, EM’s overall ability / diversity is second to none. Does he have sht tracks? 100%. Is he flawless? Absolutely not.
eminem has a nice flow but wayne clears him with his bars and it aint even close
