From how I viewed it, that should have a few stitches in it that's pretty significant... But perhaps they heal a little differently than we do. Poor Ai... ❤️

I hope they keep an eye on that wound, so it doesn't get infected. Tayari's mom, Gyasi passed away from an infection. I really hope the zoo keeps an eye on Ai! They may have to disinfect the wound or put her on antibiotics.

Thing's are still pretty tense, they are avoiding Shabani, it's pretty obvious. My girl Ai has many wounds, that gash need's attention it's a deep wound, but she managed a few twirls. It's sad that they all turned against Shabani, you still rock big fella.💞 I love you.

Annie is looking a little better, less thin. Perhaps a growth spurt along with a couple of days of being off her feed due to the tensions in the family made her look so skinny. She could still use a little more weight, though. I'm sure she'll fill out.

I always loved the way Shabani has been with his family always playful and respectful of his females. In his younger days he was a great tease with his family in playing the chase game which was fun to watch sometimes he teased a bit much but that was that young testosterone running through his blood. I'm sadden to see them really fighting so hard that they a wounding each other I hope they get back to being their playful selves.

Like some others have said, I too am uneasy about these gorillas and Ai’s wound. There’s too much energy and stress in the group and no where to release it. Also Silverbacks need their role as a leader but Shabani has nothing to protect his family from. Food is always there, so no need to move the group to another source of food. It’s what all gorillas in captivity face, I just think some Silverbacks handle it better than others.

It's my understanding that it was Shabani, as lead Silverback, standing up to Kyomasa to keep him in line. All the females were trying to protect Kyomasa. A little more complicated than that, but that is my understanding. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

The dominance thing is one, the other is Shabani caught Kiyomasa & Annie being to "friendly" Annie is Shabs little princess & Kiyomasa is Nene's big prince.. Kiyomasa's hormones are in full swing & it's not the first time they have got "friendly" but it might be the first time they got caught.🤔 It's all hearsay Maggie, because they will never tell us.😅 Body language says alot, maybe is they can find a gorilla expert in body language, sorry I'm just being silly now.🤣
Nature is taking its course even in captivity. Son is in heat, has been having physical interactions with Annie. He will be getting stronger and stronger with each day putting pressure on Shabani, who will have to decide how far he let's each challenge go. At some point in a few years Shabani will tire of fighting and will give up the crown. Who knows if the zoo will change the family dynamics.
The Japanese absolutely abuse their Gorillas, it's really not a close question. They do it for fun, like they do Dolphins 🐬. If they treat Junko Furuta like they did, you can understand why they enjoy Torturing Gorillas.
Shabani needs at least two more wives! There should have been several more babies in this troop. Ai is not interested has made that clear for years. Maybe they could bring Iriki and Rjngo in. I am sure Shabani would accept Ringo. Just get my boy some working wives already!
