Following in the steps of his self-titled debut solo album 'McCartney', featuring Paul playing every instrument and writing and recording every song, Paul McCartney releases 'McCartney III.’ Paul hadn’t planned to release an album in 2020, but in the isolation of “Rockdown,” he soon found himself fleshing out some existing musical sketches and writing even more new ones.
    Lyrics -
    Verse 1
Must fix the fence by the acre plot
Two young foxes have been nosing around
The lambs and the chickens won’t feel safe until it’s done
    Verse 2
I must dig a drain by the carrot patch
The whole crop spoils if it gets too damp
And where will we be with an empty store
    When winter comes
    Chorus
    When winter comes
    And food is scarce
    We’ll warn our toes
    To stay indoors
    When summer’s gone
    We’ll fly away
    And find the sun
    When winter comes
    Verse 3
I must find the time to plant some trees
In the meadow where the river flows
In time to come they’ll make good shade for some poor soul
    [Repeat chorus]
    [Repeat verse 1]
    [Repeat chorus]
    And find the sun
    When winter comes

Yes, it can't be a coincidence. It was a reference to the portrait of his best friend's album 💙
Despite the fights after The Beatles disolution, Paul never didn't forget him because he treated to meet him in many times, but we know that they weren't the same guys who had free time to go out and relax. John was dad again and he wanted to stay with his child. Anyway, we all know that Paul always admired to John and after all those years, Paul always remember him wherever he is. That's say too much from Paul: a man with a warm heart who love his friends

As a vocalist, myself, and from a tradition of honoring vocals perhaps more than the accompaniment, I have always been impressed with Paul's voice! Such range and control. So, when I discovered that McCartney III had this 28 year old track stuck on the end, with his 50-year old 'young' voice, I was thrilled! How great to hear that voice again!
I have also been impressed all these years with his guitar playing. And, this simple acoustic accompaniment with the highlighted double bass notes at the beginning of each verse and chorus shows his brilliant arrangement skills on guitar. What a blessing to discover this as I listened through the CD. This animation is so insightful also, I'm sure, as to his experience of family life in Scotland. He must have great memories of his career and family life.

I legitimately grinned delightedly through the whole thing before I teared up, and those are not reactions I often have. This was my favorite song from the album - the simplicity and closeness to nature is something that I think many of us are lacking, and it was brought tp life so beautifully - like a magical children's book, the kind you pass down to your kids and occasionally read even as an adult.

Well, a good song is just like that. People can have their own interpretation. For me it is not about those days since he was very unhappy there too for a time. He was depressed in that farm and drinking too much. I know that later he recovered. But it lasted for a long time..He has talked about it several times . But it is possible he concentrated in the great moments that of course he also had. He also mentioned about it recently. But for me, the main reason he inserted it exactly now is for the situation we are living. He must have noticed it can also describe the world in pandemia. That in our life we have to be prepared for dark times, we have to protect ourselves from the danger ( the foxes), we have to work in a way we won't suffer when winter comes. And we have to lock ourselves.
I don't see anything sad in the end, but I confess I am not sure about its meaning. Maybe it is sad For me it is another symbol. When we take cared we can fly away when times get rough. It's not to disappear. It is finding the sun...It is being safe. Sorry, I can't express my feeling very well because I am still unsure.. It is just a feeling it is a very positive song for our time.
When he wrote it he thought about having to face all those problems after the Beatles split...that got him into depression. So he would sort of hide living a hippie life. By the way he also mentioned it recently. I forgot where I read it.
" I found it! Here. " This song is kind of an idealistic thing, a hippy existence on a farm, planting trees, mending fences and living the good life which is something I like, I love nature and I love that idea of getting down and getting your hands dirty ". Idealistic...Symbolic. I do think so.

The more I think I learn about McCartney's skill as a songwriter, the more I set myself up to be disarmed by these beautifully crafted songs that he seems to write with such ease, and that he considers toss-offs. To me, this is his true genius - he seems to exhale melodies the way the rest of us exhale CO2. "Summer of '59" is another great example of a gem that he shaped and polished with an innate deftness, and just tossed into the grass for people to find and marvel over.

It's one of my favorite songs by Paul. When you know about his farm life, you understad the meaning of this song and also, you understad his life style. Linda was an important person in his life. Because of her, he knew another type of life, far away of the public lights and fame: a quiet life when he can be closer to the nature, the animals and appreciate the relax and love in family with his wife and children. For me, this's a song that reminds his old times when he was young and had a family life to be dad taking care of his babies and to be responsable with the home activities beside Linda.
It's such a touchable song that not just remind you old times when Paul used to sing so pretty soft but it reminds you his love for the nature too, his warm way to treat the animals and respect them... a wonderful man who love so deep the life.
Thanks so much Paul for to decide add this song in McCartney III. It was a precious gift to us, we really love this masterpiece!💖

This is my favorite song on the album. We must mend the fences of hatred so everyone can feel safe. If we let hatred spread it will destroy everything. We must protect the earth and leave something good for our children. We must get back to nature and the simple things to remind us what’s important. And when we die, we will be at peace because we put in the hard work to fix problems, lived good lives with kindness towards others, and will be leaving the planet better than we found it.
