Just got a theory of this universe;
Sonic meanwhile "Prey" was about to end, Somehow survived, However it cost his legs(Most likely he wasn't able to be the blue blur anymore. Like Tails can't fly in this universe. And Sonic could have robotic legs, I guess? Well, Don't know.). Some days later, Tails went missing of unknown causes. Sonic, Being Tails' big bro, And caring for him a lot, Went to look for him. It was hours and hours of searching, Until, The smell of rotten and fresh meat got the hedgehog's attention, And, Well, It was the only place that he didn't checked yet. While checking the room, He found a hallway, Where he saw it. Tails being eaten (alive?) by who was his arch enemy before. This was the first time the hedgehog felt fear and anger before, Seeing his best friend and little bro, Being eaten by his worst enemy. The worst part is, Whenever Tails ever respawned, Eggman had full control of the time stones, Making Tails most likely suffer the same cycle and fate again and again. Sonic did wanted to do something about it, But his fear overtook him. Eggman even taunted Sonic of "how slow he was to save his own buddy". This is where Fight or Flight starts.

After this, sonic's skin started to change from blue to gold. His eyes became red spinels. Then, a big devil like smile appeared on sonic's face. He starting to demonically laughing. Starved didn't even realised what happened, when for a blink of an eye, sonic was standing infront of him. Furnace tried to kill sonic, but furnace was quickly destroyed by sonic. Starved was in Terror. One of his robots was completely destroyed and at this point he understood that sonic could quickly killed him. But sonic decided to gave starved a little time to run. He decided to toy a little with him. The last thing sonic told starved was "Let's see how fast you can REALLY go!"

I can imagine in this scenario, instead of a fear meter like Tails in the OG Fight or Flight, Sonic has a rage meter.
As this meter progresses, he gradually turns into dark sonic, meanwhile breaking the surroundings just by sheer anger and wrath.
And I say this, because we've actually had some occasions where Sonic has gotten violent, specifically when his friends are in danger.
The first and only appearance of Dark Sonic in Sonic X occured from exposure to fake chaos emeralds (of which is probably a breaker to this idea) and some kid and a chao or something being trapped and in danger.
But on the other hand, there's the comics...
Specifically with Scourge (not his alternate self, the more recent one). At one point, Sonic believes Scourge has killed Tails, and he genuinely looks like he's about to brutally murder her. But when tails wakes up, he goes back to his cocky self, as if nothing ever happened. Leaving Scourge more than terrified. So it's definitely a possibility that Sonic would be absolutely pissed at Starved here.
Honestly, what would be ironic about the dark sonic idea I'd that in the episode where he appears, the only reason Sonic snaps out of it is BECAUSE OF EGGMAN HIMSELF!

And furnace was also able to keep up with sonic, and this more than likely takes place after prey but with sonic surviving the crash, so he may not be as fast as right now

got few theories,
in the end of PREY ,Sonic jumped to avoid furnace and making em' crash to starved eggman's machine, Tails went to eggman 's base, to confront him and end this nightmare but Starved wasn't there so he decided to hide for a little while until Starved got on here and jumped on him,but Sonic since he is faster came in time, and decided to push his little buddy out of the base to make him safe,then sonic grabbed the knife that Tails dropped and confront his enemy ONE more time..
That is a pretty good storyline. There’s probably a timeline where that happened. The multiverse is a big place, so hopefully this is a timeline where that happened

It was the longest and hardest battle ever fought by sonic in his entire life as more robots sonic destroyed Starved eggman sent more and more almost infinite waves of robots until finally Starved eggman got into a giant robot accompanying Supplies to help him against that hedgehog
the place where Sonic and Starved eggman was was inside a dome the size of a football field the dome was made of glass and the floor was made of bars where you could see the lava of the volcano and yes the dome was in the middle of a active volcano and on the sides it had four gates where all Starved eggman robots came out to exterminate Sonic and in the middle of the dome there was a kind of hatch where it was opened by means of a lever and it served to throw some giant robots that could not be distributed by the traditional way and they had to be thrown into the lava so they could be destroyed and finally at the almost top of the dome there was a balcony where the Starved eggman and supplies watched the sonic battling the Robots and on that balcony there was a table with a plate and cutlery where Starved eggman ate meat from the flicks and even pieces of sonic's friends as she watched the Hedgehog battle it out to the death

so my theory in this AU((So the reason there's a comment where it said he survived the collision with Furnace which even if he did furnace would've cooked him cause there would be no reason for him not to)) he disagrees to race against furnace since egg man asked that over radio since he didn't recognize egg man until he saw the hover ship and body shape, Because Robotnic would never ask for a race, he never did with metal, Metalix, or the other iterations, it's always been fight so I feel sonic would be suspicious of this and not race against furnace and instead try to win against furnace, and after doing so((so in this universe it's what if Tails was captured instead of Amy)) and since tails is missing he wouldn't trust egg man and then going into his room after the fight with his legs injured ((since he's never really faught a metal sonic as powerful as furnace)) he would then see who would win this battle of wits in one last stand off as tails laid dead on the ground

I have a theory. This follows the normal prey storylinr, except that tails was with sonic at the timr of sonic crashing. Since sonic boom is also a sonic, he felt that he was in danger, and with the help of boom eggman, went to the starved dimension. There he saw eggman, but he could not recognize him. He was red all over, with no eyes or lips. Just a bloodthirsty look in his face. Then he looked into the furnace. What he saw made his stomach tumble over and do a 360 no scope on him. He saw himself, just not alive and in bits and pieces. He couldnt stand to see this, and knew starved must be finished. Then the battle commences and boom sonic leaves the factory, eggman on his last leg and finally dead. With his last breath, he says,"you were too slow, HAHAHAHAHAA!". When sonic returns back home, he is scarred by the recent events for his entire life. Then in the end, he hugs every single person there, and does everything he wished to do ever. Not so happy ending, but this is life, you dont get what you want

My theory for this universe sonic escapes by missing furnace narrowly by jumping over him the starved goes after tails and tails gets captured moments after tails death sonic burst in and fights starved and that’s when fight or flight starts
Then at the end sonic kills starved with a blow to the head and since starved had the time stones sonic manages to save tails be respawning him.
This is the good ending

@Am Meme Yes ho-ho-ho, if fleetway will take control on sonic's body, STARVED IS TOTALLY FUCKED! But if seriously, i think it's going to be a dark sonic, because he turns into this form of his big anger and lust for revenge. While fleetway would kill starved to not avenge his friends, but simply because it would been fun for him.
I think even dark will be a bit scarier because fleetway it's an independent person who can take control on sonic only when he's in his super form, while dark sonic has fully control on his actions. And it's a bit scary, because sonic has nothing to hold back, so starved is fucked in any scenario.

Yo diría que al sonic cuando furnace estaba apunto de atraparlo paso por encima de él sufriendo quemaduras leves y escapando para luego ir donde tails para que lo ayude dandole la ubicación de eggman luego de encontrarlo sonic esta frente a él y se prepara para aser un spin dash y matarlo pero furnace interponiendo en el camino no pudo tocar a starved a lo cual sonic trató de destruirlo en una pelea que no se veía bien para sonic dejándolo adolorido pensando que lo mejor era escapar o quedaría echo un erizo rostisado para luego tails pensando en viajar a ángel island ya que el poder de la esmeralda maestra podría ser una fuente de poder gigante para poder ayudar contra starved al encontrarse con el guardián le explican la situación knuckles acepta ayudarlos con tal de que no se combierta en un problema para los animales de ángel island lleno los 3 a acabarlo tails volando por arriba bombardeando las bases de eggman con bombas para poder entrar al DHEAT EGG knuckles encargándose de furnace y sonic de starved mientras tails se encargaba de los otros badniks acabando todo esto con sonic atravesando a starved con un spin dash y furnace destruido por knuckles :V
