i've been listening to CULT on repeat since it dropped, and it has quickly become one of my favorite songs! I'm so excited for the rest of the album, especially since my bf said he would buy me the vinyl ^^
@@HeyitsSmim lucky you getting one of those beautiful limited edition splatter vinyls! I’m so happy you’re loving to song. Can’t wait for you to hear the full record.
This is very cool. This isn't necessarily Howard's first time being featured in a videogame (Smackdown vs. Raw, Guitar Hero, Burnout Paradise, etc), however, it is definitely his first time contributing to a videogame where he actually lays down vocals that are intended for it, so that's just awesome. This now generates exposure from a new generation to his work in Killswitch Engage, Light The Torch and SION (soon to be his project with Adam Dutkiewicz).
@@heelgill absolutely. As you say, first time he’s written specifically for the video game, rather than previously written music being used for something else.
Didn't know how much I needed a metal version of the COTL ost until I burst into tears of joy the moment Howard's vocals kicked in for CULT. Might sound a little silly but I just love this game and its soundtrack so much, and you folks nailed the emotions in that track...then finding out that was the first of SIX TRACKS? So so so excited.
Getting an EP of the year and also a behind the scenes for it is a gift I will eternally be great for 😤🙏 Was a lovely look into how things shaped up from the back end, the story about CULT is hilarious considering where it sits now!
i was NOT expecting to see a collab like this, but now im hooked! Howard Jones sings my favorite song of all time, and cult of the lamb is one of my favorite games of all time. very excited to hear the rest of the album!
I don't know how else to say this... y'all made magic happen. It sounds like you guys are sensing that too! Absolutely love CULT, and if this results in more from this team-up, the world will be better for it! Thank you!
@@nth256 yeah, we feel it too. It feels like a really special record. It’s hard to draw comparisons with too many other things, and when that’s the case you’ve normally done something fairly unique.
Cult was a huge banger, and I'm not gonna stop listening to it for the rest of the whole week until the album has come out. Hearing how this album came to be also makes this so much more special. Working on making songs isn't that easy, I've heard that from a good few song artists that I like to listen to that are more frequented on youtube. And hearing how this came to be makes me feel all the more happy knowing just how hard everyone's managed to get this done and more hyped to hear the other songs. =D

@PickUpGoliath Dude, I can't wait. I was reconnecting with music from my teen years, and Howard Jones was such an influential part of shaping what I love. It was very cool to see him on this project. And to add incredible talent like Scott LePage and Mike Malyan is amazing. And your production is phenomenal. After listening to Cult and playing the game, I listened to the OST, and the boss songs are all in there. You can pick them right out. It's amazing.
This also isn't the first time Howard and Matt have worked together on a video game project. They also did the God of War 3 metal album Blood and Metal and it seems like Hymns of the Unholy is addressing my biggest issue with the God of War project. As cool as Raw Dog is, it's just a Dream Theater song. The whole album was just a collection of songs that were loosely inspired by the game. This though, this is perfect. This shows respect to the source material while still being it's own thing.
@@clarenegracey excellent advice. I hadn’t thought of that! 🙄 The actual explanation is that the platform we used to record the podcast - Riverside - doesn’t meter the signal it’s recording. And the signal that is sent to the other person is not the same as the recorded signal, so they don’t even hear the distorted signal. So in fact Riverside clipped the signal destructively. As you can imagine, I was fuming. But you can’t have these conversations twice. It would never feel natural a second time. Of course I’m mortified to have my mic so distorted in this conversation. But there was no way I was going to trash it.
