  • We stopped by one of our favourite businesses in Japan: Sarto, to have a chat with their founder, Dan Seiya, and their Director, Moto Kwok-Fan, about their work. Sarto specializes in high end alterations and they can skillfully do alterations that a typical alterations tailor would decline. The beauty of tailored clothing is that it can be dismantled and reassembled without compromising the quality of the garment. It is a pleasure to have a garment stay with you for many years even as your body or tastes change. It is an even greater pleasure to know that your garment could be passed onto the next generation and enjoyed all over again.
We are hosting Sarto at our Hong Kong pre-owned clothing store: Drop93 this August 24th and 25th. If you'd like to make an appointment, please contact us at: info@drop93.com
See more of Sarto's work at: sarto.jp/sarto-english/
Sarto has multiple outlets in Japan. Its Ginza store in particular has excellent English speaking staff if you need help but don't speak Japanese.

At first I was stunned by the idea of altering the collar and shoulders, but lengthening the sleeve while hiding the previous buttonholes? That is something else. Incredible craftsmen.

Great idea to convert old clothes into carrying bags. Mark can give a Master Class on how to conduct an interview.

That very last bit about being able to cater to non-Japanese speakers rounded out an excellent presentation! 👍

A good tailor is indispensable. I used to go to one at World Wide House when I was living in Hong Kong. Since moving back to NYC I'm still searching...any recommendations?
