Amy Cuddy is so right. When I broke my upper arm, I had so much time to think. One day I just finally got it. Too live in the present moment. Once I did that, I was able to heal my childhood trauma. I now live presently each day.😊
I have used Peter’s tip on taking a picture of a sentimental item for years. He says seeing the item brings back the feelings associated with the item. He gave an example of an old canister style vacuum that some clients had special memories riding on as kids. He took a picture and hung it and every time they saw the picture it brought back those memories. They didn’t have to keep the vacuum.
Six months is not long enough to determine if you will wear an item. If you start in March and end your six months in September, you will have worn few if any cold-weather clothes. I did this for a year. But I noticed the ones I had not worn pretty quickly. I got rid of many items before the year was up.
It's also a good idea to have a little extra clothing because you could rotate it every 2 or 3 years , and after a while you and other people think it's a newer piece of clothing because it's not remembered after that amount of time. That being said I have way too many clothes and that's one of my goals is to donate most of it.
It amazes me how still in this day and age we pretend like men don’t have feelings too or go through things like girls and women. They may not express it in the way we do or say it all but they do. I would think these “professionals” would not gloss over it the way they do.
You would need to be sure that everything you have is something that you really will use, and maybe the overflow could go outside your kitchen. Maybe a smaller cabinet with drawers could be placed in your dining room where it's still convenient. We do that with things like extra towels and washcloths and we even had a toaster sitting on top of the cabinet that was just outside the kitchen because we needed two toasters.

It won't work with a narcissist, but I like the faking til you make it.... I love the victory pose! And the backward hanger trick.
