As a noob/boomer, dude it is so ironic that you posted this, after two hours of practice today, I was thinking I needed to adjust my brake settings and maybe the amount of force feedback, thanks so much!
I have different wheel and pedal settings for each circuit. I find getting this right makes more difference to my lap time and consistency than the actual car setups.
Thanks for the tips. Here is some constructive feedback: cut the rambling and get to your points sooner. Or maybe add notes/timestamps to the description. Thanks!
@@rw2839 Yeah, but it's convenience. It's like watching a tutorial on how to setup a new phone and it's a 20 min video. Just cut it down to like 7 mins it goes such a long way. That 13 mins can change a lot in a day and can be so helpful instead of watching that long video
I’ve only just realized that the engine sounds are slightly different between cars with the same PU. Like the McLarens shifts sound less aggressive then the Renault’s, kinda like real life.
Ok. I tried a lot of these "how to get faster" and "how to gain 34s per lap instantly" videos and none helped me to improve in any way. This did. Just changing the camera from my setting to the one JD uses gained me 0.15s / lap on any track instantly. This is insane.
I'm alright at the game, my AI is 103. I came here to hit my potential. And DO NOT PRACTICE TOO MUCH. I did an experiment. March 15th, I did a lap in the Merc at Bahrain with the default setup. I didn't play it in between as my career mode didn't go there. But I did a lap yesterday and I went 3 tenths quicker and it would've been 4 tenths but I lost time in S3. Just playing the game you get better. At the start of the year my AI was 84 and as I said before it's now 103. So I'm on course to be 110 AI and I only practice for my league races. I got F1 2019 May 11th 2020, my 1st F1 for many years. I started on 0 AI. And now I'm very happy with my pace and I hold 3 WRs in F1 2020. Don't change your sens/deadzone to others because they're fast because that won't always help. Find what works for you and when you like it don't change it. Do a lap, wait a month and do another and look at your progress Also stay on top of your differentials. For example I need to change it sometimes as for some reason I get the acceleration point wrong out of T3 and I lose traction. Stay on top of it all, you won't go anywhere if you have it all on standard and you have the ERS, DR'S Fuel assists on ect. Turn them assists off and you'll find multiple seconds. Back in July 2020 I turned off TC and went from 68 AI to 82 AI and I just got quicker and quicker every other day
CHALLENGE: Some on your listeners might be getting a wheel for xmas this year, the basic entry level ones from Amazon / Ebay / B&M. You know, the ones that don't have force feedback, vibration only, 100% plastic, suitable for all ages, dead-zone as big as tractor. How much slower would you be on one of these rigs? How much time does more money save you per lap...?
Hey JD, very useful video, I have a DD1 Podium F1, I noticed that you might have a DD2, I noticed your setting calibration and would be great if you can make a video about these calibrations for DD1 and DD2. Hows that sounds to ya? Cheers
This camera settings really helped slow the game down and I seem to be hitting my apex's alot more consistently. I've only tried it in TT thus far. How did you find close wheel to wheel racing on this setting?
Thanks for the tips. This past week coincidentally I was working on some of my settings. I used to have my brake saturation at 40, cus, well, as an ex-karting driver, I was used to that sudden short brake. I recently tried 0 and got instantly quicker, which I thought was odd. I’ve been trying to go back to 360 degrees on the steering, but, 270 apparently works better for me, sounds extreme, guess I’m overly smooth on the steering. It’s annoying as hell cus it’s not in synch with the screen wheel, so, I turn off the steering animation lol
Normally you should set up the throttle and brake deadzone in the Fanatec driver through a windows laptop or PC instead of in the game itself. I thought the reason behind this was that if you do it in game it ignores the input and you have more brake pressure when it starts registering. If you do it in the driver it creates a new 0 point when calibrating. So you won’t lose any brake pressure. Correct me if I’m wrong.
@TRL Limitless I noticed in France, Paul Ricard on lap 1 and the start of sector 3, you were still slightly leaning on the brake on the exits of corners. Maybe need to have another small look? Could gain you some time
i keep my calibrations 100% correct in game and the same irl. ive learned it and if i change it it makes me harder to control the car. so break 100% in game 100% on pedal
I've got a logitech g920 just recently bought all the settings are 0 in the calibration settings considering I've only been using a wheel driving with no assists for a couple of weeks now but sometimes I'm finding coming out of low speed corners im getting huge tank slappers almost consistently and I feel like I'm being measured on the throttle in most instances I've managed a 1:12.6 around monaco but even on that lap I had a huge tank slapper out of nouvelle and into rascasse where I locked all 4 wheels to make the corner lol it feels badass its just not as fast as it could be the wheel feels stiff and heavy but I'd prefer it even more so not sure what setting to use to change that tho

You talk about not being aggressive in the throttle and not changing the deadzone it on the list in the description you show it as deadzone at 40 which is high, it’s like the throttle not doing anything in until it’s half pressed I understand that for break if you are resting in it but not throttle.
