Theo was a darling lamb who having been rescued, spend its short life being lovingly cared for by Claire❤. I feel blessed to have been a part of Theo’s time on this green earth…bringing joy to many of us🌸🌟🦋✨🧡
My grandma took care of a lot of orphaned sheep and I still remember those weeks of the year vividly. She took them inside, raised them amongst the dogs, even let them sleep next to her, wrapped up in a blanket. Poor Theo - may he Rest In Peace. ❤
God bless Claire for giving sweet Theo the attention and loving care that he lacked from his mother! Her compassion made his short 6 weeks a life well lived! “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
We will miss Theo. I think it’s quite right to be fond of sheep. As a knitter I think of them as friend and business partner! I think Theo should be in a mapperton calendar.
P.s. Reincarnation means coming back as the same thing or something greater ...Theo earned some good Karma no doubt, so he'll be born again next spring ...or he might spring into a mare & be born as a foal. Blessings on the little fella & all who care for God's creatures great & small! ❤🐑😊🌷
Theo was so sweet. We never had an animal we didn't name and love, even those who went to butcher. We always made sure their life with us was happy and we blessed them as they blessed us at mealtime.
RIP Theo Three Spots. You brought a lot of joy to people around the world, so delighted to see Claire's TLC, and your cute antics as well as your hugs for Claire. We will miss you, darling little lamb.
I am thinking that the fleeces from your sheep would present a wonderful opportunity for a resident weaver, spinner, knitter, etc. An artisan that can demonstrate and create from this beautiful fleece. I would purchase hats and mitts from your sheep's wool.
This story makes me cry. I loved watching that sweet little lamb run and play. So happy that you buried him in such a lovely spot where he can be remembered and visited. 😢😊
There is loss and then there is renewal. The little lamb is gone but the land provides for the others as summer begins. Thank you for all your hard work to rewild and preserve.
So sorry about Theo. The mom may have realized something was wrong with him to reject him. As far as the wool, you might check with spinners and fiber artists in your area. Sandi Brock, a sheep farmer on RUclips couldn't sell her fleeces in Canada, either. But after her followers pushed for something out of the favorites, she started having it processed and selling finished items, yarns, and felting kits. Instead of going to large commercial mills, it goes to a smaller, 'cottage industry' mill. She sells out of products very quickly. I think your fleeces would make some very interesting yarn. Marbled/heather style.
This is so true! I tried to order yarn last year, but it all sold out so quickly! It is a bit pricey. That said, when one's making a scarf or socks for Nanna who is in care, the little extra paid for top quality makes the product last longer. I am going to try my luck this year to see if I get anything!
As a person who works with wool, perhaps you know? Before sheep were domesticated and could be sheared what would happen to the wool? Would it have continued to grow and get longer each year? I heard the shearer's explanation about what happens when the sheep isn't sheared. Is it at all accurate to visualize overgrown walking piles of wool that was always dragging on the ground and maybe even trailing behind them and was probably very soiled and full of burrs, nettles, twigs etc.? Could they have drowned under the weight of their own soggy wool if they ever fell into a stream? Another BBC video on RUclips mentioned how washerwomen or people who fell into cold streams could easily drown because of the shock of hitting cold water and the enormous capacity of wool to absorb water. Perhaps before domestication they had very short lifespans?
@@paulrosa6173 There are 2 kinds of sheep. Hair sheep and wool sheep. Hair sheep 'blow' their coats and shed out their undercoats, like dogs do each year. I don't raise sheep, so I'm not familiar with their history of domestication. Not sure how far back it goes, but many hundreds of years ago, wool was gathered from briars and limbs where the sheep would rub to rid themselves of it. Wool sheep were developed and domesticated for them to retain their wool, so it could be sheared and processed. No more scrounging for wool to process to make their clothes. And yes, if not shorn, it can even lead to their death from overheating, skin infections, and inability to get away from predators. Various breeds have different characteristics, fineness, crimp style, etc. I would love to see them talk about the history of the ancient breeds of sheep and how they came to be.
Sending condolences to all who cared for and loved little Theo Three Spots. His short life was filled with good things and love. That means something in the scheme of things
God is always pleased with us when we are kind to little creatures and try to protect their lives. YOu can feel it in your heart and know that you did the loving thing. That is a beautiful thing to do. 🙏🙏🙏
My grandfather raised sheep, sheared the sheep and sent the wool off on the train to be cleaned and turned into wool batting for whole cloth comforters! A new money maker for the estate would be selling whole fleeced to spinners and knitters. Maybe Mapperton could host a gathering of spinners that tell others how to turn raw wool into yarn. I do know people who raise sheep just to sell the raw wool fleeced to spinners/knitters.
😔😭so sorry about the lamb. You seem to have a different understanding of horses than we do here in Montana in the United States. We owned six horses on 10 acres. And we did rotate them through different paddocks because the horses pull out the grass by the routes and then their poo burns the grass. It ruins, the paddocks. Soon they’re nothing but mud. We made our girls go out and scoop up the Pooh, and clean up the paddocks every day. Also, we had to be careful not to leave the horses in the green grass all day as it gave them bloat or colic and sometimes gave the horse a Torsion! Very scary indeed! Those are very cute horses!
Oh no poor lamb 😢 you guys are amazing I love the manorial idea such a beautiful tribute for the amazing gift you guys were given of enjoying the little lamb for 6 wonderful weeks
So sad about Theo but his short life was filled with people that loved him and that's all any of us human or animal can ever hope for. These are some of my favorite videos you do, keep up with them, it can make the world a better place.
Awwwwww.....I'm soooo sorry......He is in heaven now....."Yes" animals DO go to heaven.....especially because of all the sweet hearts he touched in his little life!!!!! Hugs to you all!!!! Love from Michigan
I was rooting for Theo. He couldn't have been with a more loving family and caring surroundings. Thank you for doing all you could. Sending much love and a prayer for Theo and for you guys 💚
How Very Sad. Claire's Given so much Tender Loving Care to Theo who had such fine qualaties of gentleness and vulnerability. May Angels Sing Thee into The Arms of The Beloved ❤❤❤
Love the multifaceted Rewilding Project. What some areas of New England here in the states do is have a ‘sheep to shawl’ festival/contest where parents with their children especially and adults watch sheep shearing done with immediate cleaning, dyeing, carding, spinning and knitting a garment from that wool by various shearers, dyers, spinners and knitters….of course it last all day long…..but it is reviving the fiber arts to keep these valuable skills alive creatively into the future. Wool is especially healthy next to the human skin & wonderful usage with natural fiber creations instead of plastic or synthetics which do not allow the skin to breathe!
Dearest Claire, you gave him an excellent life. He knew he was loved. That’s so much more than most receive. Thank you for your compassion. It’s a precious commodity these days and so powerful and moving to witness.
Have you thought about establishing a relationship with a local knitter/knitting group where you could gift them the wool? They could make handmade accessories, shawls, etc. from the Mapperton wool and then sell them in your shop, and you share the profits?
So sorry for the loss of little Theo. It's so hard when you've tried to save one that was rejected by their Mom. You did an excellent job but alas it wasn't ment to be. His short little life was as good as it could be. Just sad for everyone.
Such sadness when a living being leaves us. Thank you for sharing Thea’s story. May he realize how far his impact has been felt. From Las Vegas, may he know peace.
It’s so very sad when any animal passes. It’s ok to be sad about a little lamb passing, it shows you really care. I love that you took the time to plant a memorial, what a lovely thing to do for the little fellow. ❤
Aww, that is very sad. Baby Theo Three Spots was loved by you all, but esp. by Claire. Alas, now he is at rest. Bless you all. The ponies look very content...such a joy to see. A new foal!! Marvellous!! Keep up the great work....Mapperton is leaning gracefully into the 21st Century!! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Glad that Theo was able to experience some gentle attention and care while he was alive. If y'all had not been there, he would have probably passed alone in that field; his momma was already neglecting him. Thank you for your care and compassion of the natural resources and world at Mapperton. You are a credit to good stewardship.
I'm very sorry for the loss of your dear little Theo Three Spots. He was a blessing we all wished could be with you much longer, but a darling little blessing while he could stay, frolicing and loved.. And what a lovely place to lay him to rest. I'd like a beautiful shady place like that, with bluebells and ramps too.
Crying for sweet littleTheo. Claire did such a wonderful job of taking care of him. Welcome to Hazel. Welcome to new born Carl! It’s so refreshing to see the kind and concerned folks at Mapperton taking care of the land and the wildlife! Thank you for sharing with us!
Such a darling little creature and Claire you were and are a blessing to that little sweet thing. Thank you Mappertons for supporting such beauty in this life.
I used to buy a sheared fleece every spingtime from a local farm to card, spin and then weave. It was a journey that I absolutely loved and watching the shearing then selecting my fleece was heaven!
So sorry for the loss of the lamb. The little one gave many a great joy. Your love of your land and all its inhabitants is inspirational. When one respects and cares for nature there is no doubt about their true being. Thank you for sharing.
I am so sorry for your loss of Theo. He was a beautiful little lamb and I’m sure he will be missed. I was excited for your new Exmoor foal and hope you have more healthy happy foals to come.
Oh Clare, you did such a good job, looking after Theo, for 6 weeks. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful place from the other side of the world.
Life in full circle. Sadness about loosing that sweet lamb but gratitude for its short life that helps us learn more about our world. Loved the rest of the video. What a glorious place you have there.
I'm so sorry for the loss of lil Theo. But I'm glad to see animal lovers around the world sending love to you.Claire did a fantastic job loving and caring for him❤
So sorry! We have goats, and when something happens to one, it really hurts because we get so close to them as soon as they are born and watch them closely as they grow. They especially get close to us when we have to bottle feed them if their mother dies or just doesn't have enough milk. Oh my goodness 😭! I'm so very sorry to hear about little Theo❤! He was just so adorable and Claire, you did a loving job of caring for him! He felt your love and you did everything you could! I loved seeing him run through the field with so much energy! He's deeply missed! My heart goes out to each of you! Thank you Claire for your sweet care of him! ❤ Please, put a marker for his grave that you can remember him!
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you! 🤗
Oh so sorry about Theo. I love having animals, but death is apart of life. Claire I’m sure became very attached to Theo and it is so hard to lose them. Thank you for sharing him with us.
I’m so sorry for your loss of baby Theo. However, I personally think it is wonderful to grow fond of animals, including sweet baby lambs like Theo. The more you love animals the more joy you give and receive, the more good is done! I believe energy of love is incredibly powerful and has the ability to do so much good for all involved! The circle of life can be painful but our hearts have infinite capacity to love. Sweet little Theo will be missed, but every time Theo is missed he is being thought of and the love for Theo remains! How lucky Theo was to be so well cared for and how lucky you were to have known you did your best caring for that precious little lamb and watching him enjoying life and prancing about for six weeks! Thank you for sharing Theo with us! 💗🥰💗
Oh my goodness! So sad to lose a baby that you shared with us! Heart break, no matter what the animal! As a vet assistant, we deal with this everyday and it still breaks our heart, for the animal and the human parents, every time!
I had a much beloved kitty that died of the same thing, caught too late. I was sad for quite a while and still sorry he didn’t have a longer life. I’m sorry for everyone at the loss of the little lamb. 😢
Thanks for honoring the baby sheep. Baby animals' deaths are so hard. 💔 Rest in peace little Theo.
I loved that little lamb. So full of joy. ❤❤.
Very creature has a soul, Theo the lamb will be part of the nature and very lucky care by Mapperton. Bless the lamb.
Some angels come for little bits of time, but when they leave, have made a huge impact on so many. Rest in peace little one.

I must confess, I just cried like a baby hearing the sad news of that sweet little lammy!
I cried also … How his mom rejected him , but he would run toward his sheep family ….
i'm a blubbering mess
God bless Claire for giving sweet Theo the attention and loving care that he lacked from his mother! Her compassion made his short 6 weeks a life well lived! “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
Wonderful to see the horses free, you have created a haven of beauty and peace
We will miss Theo. I think it’s quite right to be fond of sheep. As a knitter I think of them as friend and business partner! I think Theo should be in a mapperton calendar.
I would buy that!
Have a painting made of Theo to display in the house.

I’m sitting here crying about a lamb I never met. God bless little Theo.💕💕💕
Poor baby. I was rooting for him. It’s a joy to see all the animals cohabiting together and looking like they’ve always been there.
What an amazing shepherdess! Sleep well Theo. I find it very comforting how well cared for the animals are.
Darling little sheep-so sorry this happened but now he’s in a lovely surroundings on behalf of him. Thank you Clare for being there for him. 👼

As a handspinner I would say yes the Jacobs make a lovely yarn

Theo will be missed so much. Clare thanks so much for being his bestfriend and sub mom. ❤
As, with so many farmers we do care about all our animals and individual characters, especially. Love to you all xxx

So sorry for the loss of your sweet lamb... tearing up here.
Oh how sad, it breaks my heart. He was such a sweet cute little fellow. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Lucky lamb to have such a loving start. Perhaps his Mum knew something we didn't. A sad but normal part of farming life.
