@@christianwhite8877 the armor does the same as mage armor in that it SETS your ac to 13. Which is the same as the draconic sorcerer ability, none of the 3 can stack with each other, but all three can be used with bracers of defense, since it RAISES your AC. Hope that clears things up
Wand of Fireball/Lightning bolt is decent replacement for the Blast Scepter. Not unlimited casts but 6 extra casts of a decent spell is good. As the list is so rarity heavy I'd also like to add that Wand of the War Mage is a usable item that has a uncommon variety of it. Cloak of Protection is also nice item for the early game.

I'd make an arguement for the Pearl of Power somewhere lower on the list, 9th or 10th. Its a uniquely special item for Sorcerers as normally casters just get the slot back. But for a Sorcerer it's a way for them to regain sorcery points. You expend a 3rd slot, get 3 points back and then regain the slot with the Pearl. Definitely a useful list for if my Draconic Bloodline Sorceress ever finds a new campaign. I rolled for her stats when I made her for the original one and ended up with three 16s
You should check out the Staff of Swarming Insects. It's got some really great benefits for Sorcerer, and especially for Sorlocks. It let's you cast Giant Insect and Plague of Insects with charges, but the coolest feature is that you can use 1 charge (out of 10) to essentially give you a concentration free(!!!) version of the ever popular Warlock combo of Darkvision + Devil's Sight. It creates a sphere of swarming insects that surround you in a 30 foot radius. That area is then treated as heavily obscured for everyone but you. That means advantage on attacks against any creature without some form of blind/tremor/true sight, and disadvantage on the attacks of those enemies against you, all while still allowing you to maintain another concentration-based spell. Obviously it still comes with the caveat of being careful about positioning to avoid blinding your allies, but it's hard to dismiss the value of such a powerful ability that requires only 1 charge and no concentration.
If the cloak lets you cast a Web of double the size of the normal spell, that doesn't double each side of the cube (i.e., a 40' cube). If you double each dimension you would be covering 8 times the area. You only get to double one dimension, so a 40'x20'x20' area. If you still want a cube it would be a 25' cube.
Blast scepters are not unique. They are very rare, being from the time of the Netheril Empire, but Elmister had 1-2, I believe Kheben Blackstaff had one, and I can't remember who else. Various modules dropped them in the past. The only mention of the Blast Scepter in recent times is the one the Mad Mage possesses, but that doesn't mean there aren't ohters out there, possibly budied in the Great Desert or hidden away in the runes of a Netherese Flying City, or lost in the SHadowfel by those of the Netherese who fled there.
It's incredible on a multiclass sorcerer. My DM gave my sorlock one and I took a level in knowledge cleric for expertise in arcana, and now despite being significantly behind on spell level progression (triple class lol) I'm ridiculously versatile, with 3 entire spell lists to pull from.

the last line on staff of power doesn't happen at dawn like the 2d8 charges it's just in the middle of combat if you use the last charge you roll a d20 on a 1 t loses everything but +2 on a 20 it gain 1d8+3 charges then and there in the combat then will still gain it's normal at the end of the day
Yeah, I'm not sure what he found confusing. "If you expend the last charge" is the only time you roll the d20. 2-19 does nothing, wait until dawn to recharge. A 20 gives you charges back, right now. A 1 reduced your item to a +2 quarterstaff forever, no charges no recharging... just tears.
Hey Ted! I haven't scrolled through more than the first 15-20 comments, so I wouldn't know for sure, but did noone explain the d20 to you? You were wondering about the d20 roll on the Staff of Power and why it only gave 1d8+2 charges on a 20. Goes like this: You throw spells left, right and center and suddenly you find your charge-counting skills have gone sour and you just expended the last charge. It's now RNG time. You grab your d20, crossing all fingers that your favorite staff with all the cool spells doesn't break on you in the middle of the fight, still going around you. Now, instead of being a drained, though still working staff - which you'd normally have to cuddle with throughout the night to be able to use again - you get to roll 1d8 and add 2 and that number of charges are suddenly available to you straight away! Staff of Power is amazing and these lists are awesome man! As is the rest of your channel! Thanks for everything!
With the cloak of arachnida the spell area is doubled not the cube length. The normal spell area is 20x20ft=400ft2. Double that is 800ft2. That would result in a cube size of about 28ft ~30ft not 40ft. 40ft squared would be four times the area of your original web spell
Idea for top 10’s when your done with classes. You could do top 10 items (mundane and magic) for party roles. Tank, ranged dmg dealer, melee dmg dealer, party face, skill monkey, buffer, healer...
I read the 20 in the staff of power as an addition to the charges that you get back so if you get 2d8+4 and roll the 20 you get the additional 1d8+2 up to the maximum of 20
I read the roll of a 20 as getting a number of charges back immediately when you expend the final charge, then the normal amount as usual at the following dawn. This makes sense because it gives an equal chance of losing the staff's major powers or of refreshing them at a desperate time when you're most probably in need of them.
So, here is the question can you use the spell gems to store spells altered by meta magic. If it is possible to cast spells altered by meta magic with the spell gems then they are absolutely broken also can you cats concentration spells with them without using concentration.
I once played a knowledge cleric who had been tasked with finding all of the ion stones which the GM handily worked into the campaign which was awesome because I had a character that had all of the ion stones
So the nice thing about the thunder wave spell is its amazing AOE potential as if your in a small room with a lot of enemies the thunder wave spell can absolutely tear enemies to shreds since at 3rd level your dealing 4d8 damage with an average damage of 20 so if you jump in the middle of a room full of lets say goblins you can fire this off and kill all of them before they knew what hit them
so my sorcerer's tend to have 24 hour long fly spells meaning they don't tend to have a lot of concentration spells other than fly meaning I am always looking for magic items that give me the ability to use concentration spells without concentration
For most sorcerers, wouldn't the elven chain be better than the bracers of armor (especially if you're not stacking it with mage armor)? No attunement and more ac? Am I missing something?
Please do a top 10 feats or a top 10 feats for every class. for example Shield Master is great for barbarian, you can add your shields ac to your dex saving throws and you get the benefits of Evasion on a reaction which is great as barbarians have advantage on dex saving throws
Regarding the Spell Gem, when you said that the spell is cast without components, did you mean material components, or all components. If the latter, that makes the Spell Gem even better. A spell cast with no components can not be counterspelled because the person who would otherwise counterspell can't tell a spell is being cast.
Thats been the rule for spell storage stuff for a long time. You use all the components when putting the spell in so you dont have to later. Though usually you still need to be able to move and get it out of your pocket pouch etc. so you cant use it if you got hit with a hold person.... unless its already in hand.
I just had a thought can you put any 9th level spell in a spell gem? because if you can then you could have a supply of wish spells for any time you choose
My sorcerer once had a homebrew rakshasa (i don't know its stats but it had at least one 9th lvl spell) disarm him of his (fully charged) staff of power and break it over its knee. My sorcerer was killed instantly
small annoyance, but: a 40' cube is not twice the size of a 20' cube, it is 8 times the size. So idk what they mean by double the space. Unless DnD has becomes so bad that no one writing books now-a-days understands square-cube law.
Couldn't elven chain be worn underneath regular armor? It implies that you can put outer layers on top of it, and it doesn't give you alternate way of calculating AC, it's just flat bonus.
Elven Chain is a +1 chain shirt, so it can't be worn under armor, it IS armor. Chain shirt is medium armor that makes your AC 13+Dex (max 2). +1 Chain shirt is AC 14 (13 +1 from magic) +Dex (max 2)
For the Cloak of Arachnida ruclips.net/video/Gm2Rjk4iLJY/видео.html which doubles the AREA of web spell from 20 ft, I think you would only get about a cube just over 25 ft per side (25.198 ft) instead of 40 ft if the area is doubled. The included site will calculate the area for you. www.volumeofcube.com/doubling-cube-volume The Oracle of Delphi gave the same question to the citizens of Delos. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubling_the_cube
Since mage armor stays for 8 hours and attunement happens on a short rest your sorcerer could let the bard or wizard mage armor first, take a short rest with breakfast, then hold on to it the rest of the day. All party mage armor
illusionist bracers can be really useful because when your sorcerer casts a cantrip they can use a bonus action to cast that cantrip a second time .Thats without using the meta magic twin spell but if you did you could cast that cantrip 3 times in one turn like fire bolt or shocking grasp. Fire bolt is 1d10 when you reach 5th 2d10 at 11th it's 3d10 at 17th it's 4d10 . That means max damage of your cantrip at 17th level is 12d10 for your turn if all 3 hit and that's using your action and bonus action and 1 sorcery point for twin spell meta magic .even at level 11th 9d10 possibly if all Hits is really good . Worried about hitting ?shocking grasp would give you advantage on attack rolls against npc wearing metal armor and burning there reaction. 3 attacks at advantage and being able to walk away not bad at all.
You cant cast 3 cantrips like that. You only have 1 bonus action, ergo if your illusionist bracers let you cast cantrips as a bonus action, then you cant Quicken another
Tristan Lawhorn your right because twinned meta magic could twin both I didn't think about that I was trying to figure out how much damage you could do with 1 sorcery point used a turn and overlooked it . So for 2 sorcery points you could have 4 attacks with a cantrip a turn .fire bolt at 17th level maxes out at 4d10 on a single attack. If you use the bracers and 2 sorcery points you could do 16d10 a turn if they all hit.
Most of the items were crap. I suggest capitalize on items that doesn't let you cast spells (unless its staff of power or staff of the magi). Wand of Paralysis or Staff of Thunder and Lightning are better options. There are a lot of options for magical items that uses only actions for the sorcerer to follow up with a Quicken spell
So in one of my campaigns the GM told us to create 18th level characters so I rolled up an 18th level wizard high elf who had access to literally every wizard spell because GM let me. Then when the party met up we had the bear totem barbarian, the unseeable rogue, and the stupid amounts of AC forge cleric which they all laughed at my wizard like he was a pathetic to which my character said a famous line in our group to this day "don't fuck with wizards" which didn't stop them so my character said fine then if you don't my help your going to pay the price then returning to his wizard. The party managed to convince the king that they didn't need his help, so they left for their quest to kill the BBEG whilst my character started his own quest. The middle portion isn't relevant yet so when the party got to the lair of the BBEG and entered the boss room they saw the BBEG licking my characters boots noticing them come in even the rogue with a +27 in stealth thanks to the pass without trace spell who was also using the greater invisibility spell. Once they entered I dispelled the rogues invisibility, and casually kicking the BBEG into not existing with seemingly little effort I addressed the party telling them that while they put up a good fight I had finished up here within half a week and have been waiting for you to arrive. Continuing to address the party I said that they had laughed at me not recognizing my power so I decided that I would use my arcane power to its fullest extent and teach you the meaning of what I told you that day "DON't FUCK WITH WIZARDS". In case your wondering what my character did he had his constructs do chores and such whilst he sat down and took short rest after short rest activating his arcane recovery feature allowing him to regain a 9th level spell slot every hour and my wizard had wish. Being an elf he only needed to sleep for 4 hours a day leaving 20 hours for short rests meaning he could cast a total of 21 wish spells per day which he used to defeat the BBEG the day after he returned to his tower. After that, he continued this process for the 10 weeks it took the rest of the party to get to the BBEG's lair for the math 21x7=147 wish spells per week 147x10=1470 castings of the wish spell at certain point though he removed the need for sleep so it was actually more than 1500 castings of the wish spell. Safe to say my character was completely unkillable though not a god he could one shot the entire party in turn. After that I showed them his character sheet which had 30's in all ability scores, 20 levels in every class, proficiency and expertise in every skill, proficiency and advantage in every saving throw, every spell in the game all of which were prepared, all legendary magical gear (home brewed of course), resistance to all damage, immunity to all status conditions, every feat in the game including race exclusive ones, advantage on every attack which he could do five without using any resources, and I think you get the picture. He proceeded to teleport the party into the kings personal bathroom while he was taking a bath. At which point they had to explain to the king why you should never fuck with wizards.
To make the story above much shorter my wizard cast over 1500 wish spells, and told the party "DON'T FUCK WITH WIZARDS". After that he created an undead computer which he used to become a god then proceeding to flip off the entire pantheon saying he was going to do what he wanted, and none of them would stop him. The gods banded together to try and stop him one time, and he was plowing the fields of the goddess of virginity by the end of it so that didn't work out so well for them. In the next campaign my character played a big role as he decided that the heavens were boring and became the god king of the world ruling it better than anyone every had, or will because that's how he rolls. He allows the other gods to do their thing out of pity for them though he became the primary deity due to you know being present in the real world where the other gods are to stuborn to break the rule of not gods outside of the heavens

for example Shield Master is great for barbarian, you can add your shields ac to your dex saving throws and you get the benefits of Evasion on a reaction which is great as barbarians have advantage on dex saving throws
Just curious why the isn’t the bloodwell vial on the list?
It didn't exist when I made it
Regarding the Spell Gem, when you said that the spell is cast without components, did you mean material components, or all components. If the latter, that makes the Spell Gem even better. A spell cast with no components can not be counterspelled because the person who would otherwise counterspell can't tell a spell is being cast.
Yup, no components means none of any kind
Thats been the rule for spell storage stuff for a long time. You use all the components when putting the spell in so you dont have to later. Though usually you still need to be able to move and get it out of your pocket pouch etc. so you cant use it if you got hit with a hold person.... unless its already in hand.
I just had a thought can you put any 9th level spell in a spell gem? because if you can then you could have a supply of wish spells for any time you choose
Yes but a 9th level spell gem is a legendary item, so you'd have to find it first. And have access to the wish spell to cast it into the gem
The spell thats in it is the max level it can hold for that specific gem
My sorcerer once had a homebrew rakshasa (i don't know its stats but it had at least one 9th lvl spell) disarm him of his (fully charged) staff of power and break it over its knee. My sorcerer was killed instantly
I'd like to see ya do one for races lol
small annoyance, but:
a 40' cube is not twice the size of a 20' cube, it is 8 times the size.
@@NerdImmersion Oh, I didn't see the "13+ dex..." in the description in the video, so I thought it's just +1 and no other AC alteration.
Been waiting for this!
I dont think sorcerers get it, but the spell gem would be great for spells like magic circle
On a 20 it immediately regains the charges. Then it will regain the charges at dawn, like normal.
Guys, I'm just here shamelessly plugging my sister's new D&D web series. Its called Disadvantage the Series, you can youtube/google it. Much luv yall!
Dude I'm a divine soul sorcerer and I immediately thought of prayer of healing.
Since mage armor stays for 8 hours and attunement happens on a short rest your sorcerer could let the bard or wizard mage armor first, take a short rest with breakfast, then hold on to it the rest of the day. All party mage armor
Cast Similacrum into a spell gem?
illusionist bracers can be really useful because when your sorcerer casts a cantrip they can use a bonus action to cast that cantrip a second time .Thats without using the meta magic twin spell but if you did you could cast that cantrip 3 times in one turn like fire bolt or shocking grasp.
You only have 1 bonus action, ergo if your illusionist bracers let you cast cantrips as a bonus action, then you cant Quicken another
@@jakestavinsky3480 you aren't Quickening a cantrip, you're Twinning one. You could actually Twin both and throw out 4 cantrips in one turn.
@@MrChris99459 but, you would have to target two people. So you could do 8d10 to two people
@@AZDfox yes and you can't twin both, i believe you can only use metamagic once per turn.
A 40ft cube is 8 times the size as a 20ft cube. Not double.
Twice the area of a 20 ft wide cube is not a 40ft cube.
Geas would be great as an action.
Magic items for pets/familars/mounts
Still waiting on warlock! I MUST KNOW
Are you going to do Wizards?
Alphabetical order he said. Hes on 's' here
@@Phnxkon oh wow! I didn't realize the video was so recent. (Today!) I just assumed for some reason that it was from months or years ago.
Did he just miss the fact that you have to use an action to cast shield
I might ask my DM to watch those episodes and *wink* at them...
I am just hoping for some good magic items... am I asking for too much
Yes, you make do with your 10 ft pole and 100gp at level 20!
Is it bad of me to say that you look like Ted Cruz if he had a soul
I see it now too.
Sixth
3rd view, suck it internet.
Sorcerers can not wear helmets.
Arcan recovery can only be used once per long rest and only recovers up to a 6th level slot. And you can only long rest once per 24 hours.
Also he has to roll fate for every one of those uses of wish. Its a 33 percent chance of never being able to use it again each time.
I love the idea of making a Lich with a staff of power, and making the staff his phylactery so the players have to destroy it >:)
