We sold a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager to a customer, simple right? Wrong! A guy had contacted us after we sold it saying we had sold it out from under him. He thought that his offer of $1400 less than asking meant that he had first dibs on the bike.
The worst bike we ever sold had a bunch of issues! See what we did with it!

That is me you guys are talking about! Thanks for keeping it until Friday for me! You guys are not scammers. You are the best salesmen I have ever dealt with
Oh cool really?
Hope you've been enjoying your ride!
Yea haw now ride that thing till the wheels fall off
Yea haw now ride that thing till the wheels fall off
"some guys like to ride, some guys like to own." love it...
I have a friend that is both...
Gary has 8 bikes now, all HD, and rides the hell out of them...
That customer who bought the bike seems like the kinda guy you wanna have a beer with.
Money talks b.s walks that should summit up.
It was me
@@davesuddreth3749 sure it was
@@alfiejones4253 his profile picture literally matches the dude in the video. He also has the top comment on this video talking about how he bought it
@@alfiejones4253 what a mug 😂😂😂
As the saying goes, "A verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's written on."
Well I don’t agree with that saying because I’m a man of my word. If we had a verbal agreement I would absolutely abide by it. But we never even agreed on the price. So there was so agreement or certainty that he even wanted the bike. And there was absolutely no deal made.
@@BikesandBeards That's my impression of you Sean. That's the difference between what you ought to do, and what you have to do. But if it ever went to court, the judge would agree.
Written agreements are no better then verbal ones, the difference is that verbal ones are more difficult to prove.
In ohio a handshake is just as good as paper and u dont have to prove u shook on it they gotta prove they didnt shake on it and as long as u have a mutual witness the verbal contract is solid
uh, that is exactly how BMW ended up with Rolls when VW thought they bought Rolls and Bentley and ended up with only Bentley! Old handshake agreement back with BMW bought Rolls aircraft and the Rolls Royce name with it - on a hand shake. Held up in British court...just saying. Plus, with me, my word is my bond, so may be your verbal contract is no good, one from me, or these guys, is.
Money talks, BS walks. No deal until $ exchanges hands.
and small change rides the bus
Dang, I was just gonna post that, oh well .
Amen real talk !!!!!!
right +!
Love the little behind the scenes shots of the test ride video of the Voyager. Nice.
Harrison in the background editing one of your "sit-down" video had me kinda cracking up. He's editing your gestures and movements sloowwwllyyyy. LOL
Love your videos man! You helped me decide what my first bike was gonna be. You are a fountain of knowledge and an extremely humble fella. Wish you all the best in 2020!!
Wow, so much insight in this video - inside the dealer's mind......inside the owner's mind......how business works........ but my favorite is "some guys ride, other guys OWN!" Great video boys!!
Moto Giant
- I've seen a few of those.
ex: Suzuki GSX 1300, 3 months ownership. About 900 miles in those 3 months. A little more than a 1000$ of extras/options added in that time frame.
And I saw the bike for sale. I couldn't believe, it didn't even made the first oil change! LOL :-)
I guess some people have really deep pockets. ;-)
@@crpth1 See it ALL THE TIME!! It is an epidemic in this country. Everywhere BUT America two wheels are transportation. Here it is a status symbol, and an identity, and many times an effort to re-capture lost youth. When those things don't pan out, the "riders" opt for climate control and comfort, and the bikes gather dust and remorse - sad.
My Mom bought a Harley from someone who bought it, rode it to the gas station. Lost their balance after parking it and gently laid it on its side. No dents or scratches on the bike. After getting help picking it up, they rode it home and parked it. Never rode it again because it scared them. Had under 1000 miles on it and my mom bought it from her for 4500. The bike was practically brand new.
@@evasesh6585 NOW, how many miles are on it?
@@MotoGiant Late reply but I just had to say that the same thing happens here in the UK. Bikes that have done 1000m or less per year. Obviously never seen the outside of a garage except in the nice weather. Isn't 'Garage Queen' an American term?
Anyway, suited me. Got an eight year old Vulcan 900 Custom with 8500 on it for four grand, then put 6000 miles on it touring around Europe :) Love that bike.
Man, people have to realize how this works. So many times I was "talking" to somebody about buying a bike and then I find something else I like better. They don't hold me to buying the first one cause we were "talking".
And then of course when I've sold stuff myself 9/10 people who show interest never show up.
You guy's through your videos have proven you try to stand behind a sale and treat the customer with respect. Just look at the CBR it's been in the shop and your covering the repair bills. Most places after 1st bill and the dealership giving it a check up would have passed the other repairs to the buyer. Keep up the good work. Can't make them all happy.
It only makes sence that a dealer will hold it only with a down payment. A sure deal is better than a maybe. First come first serve.
I called about an advertised motorcycle at a Florida dealership on a Saturday to make a deposit. the sales manager answered and said they are about to close and call back Monday morning. Late Sunday i get an e-mail from a different salesman informing me to ask for him on Monday. When I called, immediately he tries to steer me to a different bike. Long story short one of the guys that worked there wanted it. They lost a cash buy because of that.
Anytime I've sold one of my bikes there were always like 12 guys that swore they wanted it but only one guy that showed me the money and got the bike.
I'm usually always that guy lolz
I like you guys being straight with your customers
Love the videos and your business man ! Keep up the good work !
I'd love to see see a video on the suzuki katana.
I have one and it needs work 1100cc engine I think I have no information on it
Please make a video about the Katana! It looks so cool! Love the channel! 😃
You guys have the greatest job. At the end of the video, you make real riders who know motorcycling very happy. You as riders understand the joy of riding. When a rider buys a bike from you they really like, they will have many hours of fun and enjoyment. That is what you really sell in a honest way.
Sean. The blinking cracks me up. Its your signature. I like it.
Love the vids !
Hi Sean I watch your videos all the time I really enjoy it ,you and Craig making fixing bikes easy and informative , say hi to Craig he is a good smart mechanic he fixed any bikes he gets his hand on it good job to both of you keep up the good work ,with more good videos your friend Norman from Florida the sun shine state good place for bikers
And Yes, Sean, your video sold the bike, to me!
MAN! He TOTALLY scored on that bike!!
Love the succession of the last 2 videos .... if you have any doubts in SRKcycles- watch the previous video, the one about the cursed CBR... it will answer every question you got!
Just buy the darn thing, best surprise I ever has was how much I enjoy my 2008 Vulcan nomad, and it helped me find this channel almost 3 years ago! For the record I'm not even a cruiser guy, my other bikes were a 97 bandit I bought almost new, Kawasaki zx6e, and r1200rt
love your videos. love the bikes. great channel
Typical buyers with commitment issues - they always pull out the "We were talking" card when someone steals the deal from under them.
Caleb looks like a young boyd coddington lol .
That blue M109R BOSS you guys just picked up is gorgeous. Lookin forward to a video with that one.
You guys are the most honest guys I know. If I ever go back to riding I will buy my bike from you
Great episode Sean
😎👍🤝
Nice to see deals being made with plenty of comaradery going on between customers & sales staff. Very Cool.
Superb as always guys usual big shouts from Scotland
Bro, remember we texted before about me just coming and grabbing a bike off of you guys for free? Its me, Phill! Im local! We had a deal, we talked about it!
Wow that's crazy because he made the same deal with me but something happened and the free deal fell through
ya i was gona trade my huffy for that valcan but while i was peddeling there to make the trade they sold it
What the hell is everyone here on about?
@@MrNightpwner my free bike, they screwed me and sold it!
Dude thats crazy! They told me that if I jogged over from Cali they would give me a 2017 Harley! I was running through Kentucky when I got the call saying they gave the bike away to their pizza delivery driver. I live in Kentucky now
that is a great scam when you think about it he scammed that guy with out taking any money from him! hmmm?
Love watching every video. Love the honey instead of motor oil. From NY city and I'm going to come there and get a bike only because of these videos. You guys are hilarious!
"Harrison took my shoe for a video." Me: *laughing out loud* "What!?"
I dug this behind the scenes video please make more like this one
Money talks! You guys are right! That potential customer needs to understand the process!
Love the voyager but the fairing looks weird to me ,you guys did a great job on this video
A deal is not a deal till there’s money down great work guys
I love your channel wish I was in the US big love from Australia
We can only imagine on the different people and different levels they are on and anything can happen in this business that's for sure always a big thumbs up bro🇺🇸💪💪👍👍👊👊😊
Please man, it's Ka-TAAAAH-Na!!! You're Killin me smalls 😂
it is Can-a-tuna
Haha had to check the comments after I heard that lol. Still love ya Sean :)
Every dearlership should watch and takes notes from these guys the go above and beyond for there customers awesome service very professional props sirs
My daughter is learning this lesson. She breeds and sells livestock. She has repeatedly had people ask her to hold an animal till they can get it. Had a guy stiff her twice this year on a 15 animal deal. Passed up chances to sell them because he said he would buy and then backed out.
Money talks, bullshit walks. An old landlord told me this wisdom when I was in my 20's.
Glad to see the Austin still in the parking lot. I had a 1966. Sold it a couple months ago.
Good for you that you sold yours lol
@@BikesandBeards it was tough. An old man told me "everyone who likes that car is dead." I lost money on it but I liked driving it for a few months. Mine had the wire wheels. People thought it was an Austin Martin. I would reply Yes, yes it is.
Hey bud just saying camera looking crispy brother. Nice quality videos always man. You're beard looked extra clear and manly. Respect
I have Ben in the industry for 50 years.this man is the best I have ever seen.sets bar high.and right
PLEASE post your equipment set up for both on the bikes and also stationary.
I love your channel man btw how much would shipping be to Phoenix Arizona from you guys?
I’m gonna miss these times with the best team
The connector and foam insert in the left side fairing pocket is the IPOD Adapter kit. It does not have Bluetooth. I have a 2012 Voyager and I have this for my bike.
It had a blue tooth adapter connected to the iPad adapter
Idk how I got sucked into watxh your videos. I guess it started when I opened my horizon to other bikes again instead of just Harleys. I'm just tired of harley and their issues but I'll always love them. But when you take the time to explain about each bike I have grown interest in other things. Much like the Honda vtx 1800
I was in sales for years and the biggest truism of the business is “it’s no deal until money changes hands”
How long have you been doing bike sales?because you are so dam good at it and a honest guy.amazing.
You guys are great.
You guys are awesome over there. Maybe one day I’ll come by.
Great video.
Totally understand the "some like to ride others like to own". Got my bike super late in the season for NE Ohio at the beginning of August and put over 3000 miles on it in just over a month
Been watching you guy a long time and I can honestly say you have come a long way. I'd be very comfortable dealing with you.
I sold bikes and power sports for 2 years, and very successfully I might add, and in all my deals I never lied or misled, not even once.
There is no need to lie or mislead anyone.
ah guys you are all amazing your videos are super my son lives in US and i intend to visit your shop when we come to visit greetings and god bless from a life long biker from Northern Ireland
Voyager is a wicked bike! I 've go a 2014 Nomad, love it
I need to get out of the owning part of my motorcycle and get in to the riding part
You have great prices. I'm saving up now to buy a bike this winter hopefully
Awesome !
It's crazy how things work and what all you got to go through sometimes to get there this was going to be my next bike until I have my accident super great bikes👍👍👍👍👊👊
Good choice! I bought a 2017 and it was 17000 less than a cheap Harley 1700 ultra I love my bike so easy too handle and liquid cooled no problems in heavy traffic like air cooled bikes. but get a short windshield for it and some pegs you will be happy , I know I am . I’m doing Ivan’s flash and stereo upgrade and that’s it happy riding.
Shawn. Hold that Katana for me, I’ll call you later ... next month. 😂
Lol every salesman loves the customer assist. Don’t even have to split the deal 😂
I live in pa also and love your videos so much.
In the state of Vermont a verbal agreement is a legal binding contract one of the few states left that your word is your bond by law
Scammers! No you're not. You guys are legit honest gentlemen.
5:30 Many years ago, when I was just a kid, my dad and I had to drive from NYC to where he grew up in Wisconsin because his brother had passed unexpectedly. At the time, the only vehicles we owned were all work vans/trucks so he arranged a loaner car from a buddy who owned a used car business. The car he lent us was an early 60s Plymouth Valiant with a big 318 V8 shoehorned into the engine bay. Before we left the lot with it the guy told my dad, "Please take it easy with this car, it really, honestly and truly, was owned by a little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays." That car was a rocketship. I still remember him waking me up in the middle of the night, somewhere in Indiana, to look at the speedometer, which was buried past the 120 MPH mark, as he excitedly told me, "And I still have another inch under the pedal!" My dad fell in love with that car but we couldn't afford to buy it. He was very sad the day he had to give it back to his buddy.
I really enjoy these videos :) It's kinda cool to almost be there when you are talking bikes with your customers.
In socal CA, local is good because we don’t get much rain so we don’t see much rust
Some customers are a joke. They want things their way and don’t get basic business. Spot on you guys.
were you the guy who got killed by Achilles in the movie troy? if so that probably hurt getting dragged behind that chariot.
I had a 1997 Suzuki Katana. My first street bike. Now I want to see a video of the one in your shop.
Nice vid. Personally, I will ask for a personal video. I will ask if the dealer needs a deposit or will allow a 24hr holding time for me to evaluate the product, if the say no deposit, we have a time limit. I was in Europe and needed a truck to take my horses to a show (in the States). I found a local dealer with an excellent F150 (8y/o less than 30k, rhino liner, zebart, all options, all records worked on at the dealership.) he held the truck for me for a week. It was featured on the net, but he hid the vehicle even took it home. The night I arrived I showed up to look at in. But the dealer wasn’t there. The next day I bought it. My wife loves it. He is getting a nice Christmas gift from me!
fine line between integrity and sales....
what do you use to clean your bikes?
Sean, I want to buy that Honda CT
90 you have but you have to ride it to
Georgia and we'll talk about price
when you get here...
Deal??? :-)
I can't speak about the US but I just wanted to say that in many commonwealth countries money does not have to be exchanged to form a contract.
To form a contract you basically need Cause, Consideration and Consent. You only had Cause (there is a valid a reason to form a contract) and Consideration (he gets a motorbicycle, you get money) but you did not have consent from both parties. If SRK had agreed a price and payment schedule (e.g. $10k within 2 working days) they could have been said to have formed a contract however as it sounds like no such undertaking was made there was no contract.
My advice is if you have to drive a long way call the dealership ahead and make an arrangement that agrees a basis for the sale to be concluded (e.g. a price and fixed payment schedule subject to...[the motorcycle being as described and pictured for example]) Just realise this binds both parties to the sale if those contingencies are met so you will be purchasing the vehicle as agreed. You will likely want this interaction recorded in case you have to refer to it later.
this is the kinda thing that separates the men from the boys. Yall take care of your customers AND your potential customers. You genuinely just want every butt on a seat. Keep it up gents.
Whats the story on the red and white bike we always see in the background in the office
That's Sean's track bike
What do you use to clean the bikes without water?
I worked for a Harley Davidson dealership from 2003 through 2009 and I would see it all the time someone would look a at a bike and I’d say if you want this bike put a deposit down and give yourself a couple of days to work out a deal and 9 times out of 10 they would not do it and 8 of those times someone else would buy that same bike out from under the other person who didn’t want to commit almost like a sure thing.
Finally. Truth in bike negotiating.
That's it I'm having IRL Rosie call you in Britney Spears voice about you scamming. 😂
Well in this case the old saying goes < Talk is cheap money seals the deal>
Are you supposed to have half your inventory on hold so people can decide
what they want lollll. If i am dealing in a shop with the salesman and someone walks in
with a suitcase full of cash giving him the posted price if he decides to sell it to him
it would be my lost. Jeezzz people are so weird and no clue about business.
I think because of your specific channel and dealership that these voyagers / vaqueros are going to become very very popular. More so than they already are
I like that it not what’s your riding it’s where your riding.👍🏼
Oh yeah, one more thing. Keep your eyes open for an eluder. I'd like to know your opinion on one of those
I had a 93 Katana 750 and I loved it. How much is that blue one?
After watching probably a dozen of this channels vids int he last few days, I finally figured out who it is Caleb sounds like. Charlie Day
Wow a triumph thunderbird sport in the back there @ 13:02 . I d love to have that bike
Pretty cool ole boy got his bike after all!
What kind of supplies do you use to clean/shine up your bikes when you sell them?
Priceless some guys like to ride ,some like to own, I've learned that with a bigger bikes, with less mileage,
The one that purchased it bobbled but didn't wreck, but changes the wannabe riders paradigm out of fear,,
Im such a case Honda CB360 late 70s , I went end over end 6 times on grass while holding on for dear life ,that I was a 17 then ,
I learned about tires after that, knobby tires for dirt Groved tires for street lol . I see honesty within your videos Y'all aren't Crooks
I see favor and blessing upon most of y'all within the videos Y'all make Walk in Agape Love and everything else falls in order on
Our natural plain of life .I recently watched you give a nice Bike to a man that worked free for y'all ,that video made me tear up for I saw hope
For mankind still even in our time frame the end time Well Done ,And I like that you post at the beginning of the videos scripture for the day.
I to this day can still roll that film clip of the end over end, I haven't ridden since that day, even sold the CB360 the day after i flipped it ,not one thing happened to the bike
Even the mirrors fenders mint shape, I'm 56 now, and I want a backwoods woods creeper for prospecting , Any ideas, not loud but quick exit if needed. Keep making videos
With substance I like y'alls style.May 2020 be one of y'alls most blessed years yet to be seen .
I bought a bike in the winter time. It's sometimes the best time with offers and the willingness of the dealer to still move inventory.
