Very wise advice, Dave. Winter prep is a lot of work. Still doing mine. At 31F last night, I am surprised that my 2 tuna cactus under the boxwoods did not freeze out or the cactus in my unheated greenhouses. Those night time terrors and daytime marauders are really something to fight off during the winter months. Hopefully the burlap works out for you. Have a cup of tea tonight to take the chill out of the bones.

I live in Mn too and have had some junipers in nursery pots that survived up against my house all winter. This spring I’ve been getting into Japanese maples tho, I’m thinking my attached garage won’t be enough cause 3 all the exterior walls of it are uninsulated. Is there a video you go into how you built that cold frame and do you think that might be the best best for overwintering maples? Thanks!
Yes, a cold frame is I think the best way to control your environment. Search cold frame on the channel. There a few videos that cover what I’ve done. I’ll check for specific one.

Okay thank you yeah some of my maples are in smaller nursery pots and some in bonsai pots and I don’t want my whole collection to not make it lol that would be a sad day but a learning experience I suppose
