I had a planned c-section a little less than 2 weeks ago and I feel... totally fine! I had a lot of anxiety going into it because I knew I'd be awake for the procedure and the idea of that creeped me out, but aside from the day immediately afterward, the recovery has been virtually painless.
@@PTS2024 Good luck! Of course, everyone's body and experience is different, but the (planned) c-section was honestly totally fine. I know a few people who have delivered one child naturally one via planned c-section, and they've all told me they preferred the c-section delivery lol. One even congratulated me when I told her I had to have one. You'll be okay and within 30-40 mins, you'll be holding your baby.
Do NOT ignore a fever after a c-section, DON'T take Tylenol and stay home. Please call your doctor or go straight to the ER! It happened to me, 6 days after discharge, I ended up with a fever and went to the ER and found out I had 2 bloodclots in my lungs and an infection in my bloodstream. Take your health seriously, if you don't feel right go and get checked out.
I have to have a c section and I am so scared. Thank you for sharing this and I am so glad you are okay and survived. So many people make it seem easy but it sounds terrifying.
@@jademchale4310 Just be aware of what your body is feeling. You know your body best. When I called the number to reoprt I had a fever the doctor on call suggested I take Tylenol and see how I felt in the morning, I told her, no, my Doctor told me if I had a fever over 100.4 to go in and be seen, so she sent me to the ER. My doctor was so glad that I advocated for myself and demanded to be seen.
I just wanted to say thank you for your content. I am pregnant with my first baby and watching your videos has helped ease my worries and stress. Love your channel!
I just had my fifth baby and first csection due to a prolapsed cord. It was definitely scary, but I am so so thankful for how quickly the doctors discovered it and safely delivered her. Recovery has been surprisingly quick! In a lot of pain initially, but everyday got better and better. The nurses were great about helping me express some colostrum while I was in recovery and breastfeeding has been going great. It was a bummer to not experience delivering vaginally again, especially since it’s our last baby. More than anything though I’m so glad she’s ok, because it could have been a very different outcome! Thank you modern medicine! I do wish I had known more about csections before having had one, especially in a true emergency like mine. So thanks for sharing!
I just found out today I may need to have a c section I am 34 weeks pregnant with our first. I appreciate this information and at the end of the day I just want a safe delivery.
Yeah im 36 weeks and i just found out i need one and it freaked me out but alot of my family and friends have had them and said i should be good so hopefully all goes well
I’m going in for mine tomorrow! You can only prepare so much & my expectations aren’t for it to go perfectly. I want to enjoy her birth & be safe. Thanks a bunch.
Had my first born 5 weeks ago. After 40 hours of labor (started with water breaking with no contractions before hand) and about 2 hours pushing, my doctor (and my body!) told me she was NOT moving. Into the OR we went and it went so well. Delighted with the whole process- it’s not how I thought it would go, but I went in ready to roll with the punches, and gratefully feeling good postpartum.
Thank you so much! This was so helpful! I am 38 weeks pregnant with my first; baby is breech so I will be needing a c-section. I have been on an emotional rollercoaster due to the thought of having a c-section but this answered so many of my questions 😊
I understand there is a opioid problem. But trying to get people to get threw pain from something like a c section with just Tylenol and motion is inhumane. The mother should be able to care for her child and herself after such a horrible event. Aftwr giving birth to my boys they were so stingy with medication. Mothers put so much into the pregnancy and the birth doctors should listen to them when they say they are in need of stronger relief from thier pain. Especially the ones who had babies themselves... this is not direct hate towards yall. But I do wish medical professionals would keep this in mind
@@TheSarahscorbin omg! I’m so sorry to hear that. Next time you need to advocate for yourself. If nobody listens speak to a manager, then a supervisor. If no luck speak with administration. If administration don’t help you ask for the CEO and insist on getting correct contact information. If you keep climbing up the chain someone will listen to you. I had a C section 2 weeks ago & was at times refusing my narcotics & stretching out the hours in between them. When I was discharged I refused them also. Luckily I had the option to do so. I was in excruciating pain. I did prescription Motrin & Tylenol. Everyone does not have the same pain level you should have been treated better. I’m so sorry.
@@sfindley28 thank you for your kind words. At the time of my discharge, my baby was being transferred emergently to another hospital so he could be admitted to their level 3 NICU, so I was so focused on him and going with him that I didn’t even think to advocate for proper pain medication. But nothing was even offered to me either. They didn’t even counsel me about what OTC pain regimen I could follow. One of the NICU nurses (they are all saints, I swear) was horrified at the condition I was in when I went to see my son the following day and she blessedly wrote out a schedule of Motrin and Tylenol for me to follow. It was all such a shit show.
Thanks so much for the valuable information that you both provide. Could you also do a video on what to expect postpartum. 2 weeks after I had my twins I was diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia & I felt perfectly normal & had no symptoms. My bp was dangerously high. My Dr said the only other woman he had seen post pregnancy with that bp had come into the ER actively seizing & went straight to the ICU. I didn’t know that you could get this post pregnancy because I had no problems with my bp during pregnancy. This info might really be helpful for other moms & save lives.
I had a planned c-section due to medical reasons about three weeks ago and I feel great. Hilariously, my water broke anyway the day of the operation and I started having contractions - and the doctors were very impressed, they said it was the best possible outcome for baby since he was really "ready" to come out!
I was diagnosed infertile at 19, told was never gonna have kids never had a regular period, pretty much checked off all the symptoms of PCOS BUT last 2 months we celebrated my daughters first birthday conceived naturally with herbs remedies
Thankful for modern medicine and doctors! I needed a C-Section due to a Complete Placenta Previa and a low platelet count. It's wild to think that 50 years ago things may have been different.

I also have a large subserosal uterine fibroid of 10cm and I'm currently 32 weeks. I'm a FTM and so scared of the mode of delivery. Even though I'm a dentist myself but having the thought of undergoing a major surgery, difficult and long recovery period, and the size of fibroid itself, I'm really anxious. as days are getting near. I send you best wishes, hope things turn out fine for you.
I’m looking at a c section in the next two weeks due to a previous pelvic fracture. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been struggling with feelings of guilt or taking the easy way out, even though I know that’s not the case. This will help me with my next doctor visit to prepare me.
This was a very good video but I’m glad my hospital isn’t gonna just send me off in pain🥴 you can’t always expect someone who just had a major surgery like this to be able to control their pain with just Tylenol and Motrin 😒 I’m having my 2nd C-section, 5th baby in October and I have a wonderful doctor, thank goodness!!
This was so helpful I have complete placenta previa with my second child and will need to have a planned c section and I am nervous about the pain and recovery. Making sure I have the pain planned beforehand is something I will surely make sure of
Sarah can you please discuss Endometriosis. Why does it take so long for physician to diagnose and why do some physicians not take patients seriously when they report symptoms of it ?
I had an emergency c-section 6 years ago, and it was very traumatizing... I'm pregnant again, and I'm having my third c-section. This video made me remember a lot of that day, and now I'm crying and terrified 😢
I had an unplanned c section 7 weeks ago and I started crying when they told me we had to have an emergency c section because the baby was in distress. I really wanted a normal birth , the recovery was really painful.
I had a traumatic birth experience that ended in a csection. I had a failed induction and arrested dissent, a failed epidural, and back labor pain. The labor and delivery nurses were awful to me. I pushed for four hours and they never thought to bring in the OB for help. I had to see a therapist.
I am so so sorry that you had a traumatic birth experience. And I am so glad that you were able to see a therapist to help unpack and work through that.
I had an emergency c section at 35w and one of the biggest helps was the belly binder. It was so much more bearable having the compression of the belly binder. Then I got a stronger belly binder. It helped so much.
Another indication for C section is if baby has a genetic genetic bone disease. Bones are too fragile to use instruments if things go wrong, and genetic disease can cause an excess of amniotic fluid which tends to cause more bad positioning of the baby (chin up for instance). thanks for your very informative video !
Thanks so much doctors….. I am going to undergo my second c section next month …. My first was a traumatized one … fingers crossed I am expecting a better experience this time …. This video is very helpful … keep continuing good works docs ! May God bless you both and your little girl.
This video is incredibly helpful, thank you! Considering attempting an ECV but it’s a hard decision to make. Perhaps you could make a video on that one day!
I love this video. I had to have an emergency c section. I definitely had birth trauma there for a while. My daughter just turned a year old and I’ve worked through accepting and loving my experience for what it was. I had a hard time battling with whether I wanted to do a VBAC and have that birth redemption or just opt for another c-section. I’ve recently come to the decision that I don’t need the redemption since I got to go all the way to pushing for a few hours with my daughter. At this point, what matters to me is the baby, not so much the way of delivery. Plus I’ve already gone through the recovery experience with csections so I think I’ll be okay. I feel at peace with it for the next child/children. Thank you for this video, it’s so full of knowledge and detail of what to expect since last time I had no time to really ask questions/have preferences.
Congrats on making it through that first year!! I am sorry your daughter's entrance to the world was a traumatic one, but am thankful you have had the support you need to work through it. I hope you feel supported with your next steps--and I want to echo what you said--you don't need redemption!! Everyone glorifies unmedicated "natural" births, but really everyone is a warrior and deserves a medal for giving birth!!
@@TheDoctorsBjorkman it was really fascinating to me, the leadup to giving birth the first time, and the way the doctors tried to guide everything as naturally as possible, they were fantastic - in the end there wasn't ever a "natural" option for me, modern medicine helped me along the whole way! Nobody knew at the time, but my baby girl could never have fit through my pelvis, so after an induction at 41 weeks, all the way through from cervix ripening (including 2 foley balloon attempts), to stalling for over 12 hours at 7cm dilated - my baby girl was eventually delivered by emergency c-section. the medical team were so supportive and never once pressured me to an early c-section (even though I had no aversion to one) - they gently guided me through 4 days of labour, and got us all through safely. I'm so grateful for the experience I had, considering I had no idea what I was doing and it all went as calmly and as positively as it could have. ❤️
Aww man. Totally relate. My first boy born 6 years ago ended as well in traumatic c section and hard recovery. I'm 33 weeks nows with second son. As much as my heart yearns for a natural birth experience it does seem safest for the baby to go another surgery but elected this time. I too am having to kind of mourn the loss of the vaginally birth experience. This is our last. Lot ls if people don't seem to understand my emotions around it. Doing a vbac or elected surgery was one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. But like you said, his health and outcome is so much more important than my experience. And now we realize it all goes by so fast anways....cheers.
My plan c-section is coming so soon May 4. We’re having a baby girl. My first (baby boy) was a unplanned c-section. I’m excited for this 2nd c-section because my OB said that it’ll be easier healing process than the first.
How are you doing mama? I'm scheduled for my second c section on May 25th. Was the recovery easier this time around? I feel more prepared this time, since the first was an emergency c section, but I'm NOT looking forward to the recovery process.
Thank you for the video. This is our third pregnancy and after a shoulder dystocia with our last delivery, our ob recommended a schedule a c-section closer to our due date. This is our first c-section and I don't know what to expect.
I had an emergency C-section almost 7 years ago and my pain wasnt that bad...I'm hoping that the pain that I'll be experiencing after this planned C-section will be the same only Tylenol for me!
good luck I had mine in june it was great. The biggest regret is not getting a recliner , getting in and out of bed was the hardest tbh not even my stairs.

Thank you so much for not only answering my Q&A question from your last video but making an entire video for it. 💖💖💖💖 I’m having my 2nd scheduled c-section next month. It’s an 11 year age difference between my 1st baby c-section (breech) so I figured a lot more advanced technology has changed since then. Thanks again looking forward to more videos 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great video. Thank you for all the information given. With my first baby I had a 4th degree tear. It was a traumatic birth and still healing emotionally. Currently, pregnant with my second baby and I am indecisive if I want to go ahead and have a c-section because I am afraid to have another 4th degree tear. I am stuck between the pros and cons. Any encouragement you can share with me?
I will be having my 2nd c-section in 12 days. And it's scary because of the 11 year gap from my first son. But this new coming new baby is breech so my desire for vaginal delivery went out the drain. Been preparing myself mentally and physically for it. Hopefully this goes better than my first one. Looking into videos like this is such a big help to us.. Thank you so much...
I was a week early because my water broke. But I tested positive with mild covid despite having no symptoms and fully vaccinated. and so complications with the confusing protocol by hospitals, had me moved to another hospital, made me labor for 20 hrs, and left my amniotic fluid leaking for 28 hrs leading to my baby having infection. They isolated me and my husband and I wasn't able to see my baby for 11 days and I have to literally ask another person to claim my baby on our behalf because the hospital wouldn't allow us to claim him personally. The hospital was understaffed, (overbooked, at least in the covid wing,.. And mild and severe cases are mixed) and oftentimes the nurses would forget about me and I would often times go without pain medication. Still salute to the nurses... They risk their lives for less pay, literally on their toes the whole shift. There are just about 4-6 nurses on the entire covid wing. I literally saw my doctors about twice after my operation for the entire 11 days confinement so it was all the nurses taking all the bulk of the burden. I went without dressing my wound. It was just dressed once the entire confinement.and the discharge bill was laughable in its huge amount compared to the care I received. It was ultimately hilarious and hellish. It was one hellish experience but I thank God he gave me the strength through it all. It was definitely the worst I had to go through in my life. The worst was not being able to see my baby, feed him, not knowing how he is and not even knowing how he looks like. But God is a God of answered prayers and mercy. Now, my baby is breastfeeding with me. He was able to latch on although I still have trouble having to increase my milk production to match my son's already growing need. But we are now together. My son tested negative with covid and we are now catching up on lost time getting to know each other and making up for those times he didn't have much interaction in the NICU because again, also understaffed.(the hospital were we were at are more concerned admitting and earning from more patients and rather than giving quality care or the welfare of their medical staff ) .. Infact my son was confused in the beginning why suddenly there are people talking to him and showing him affection. Pandemic babies are really having it bad... I hope and pray it goes better for other moms and babies... It really boils down to compassion... Sometimes hospitals forget that human trait factor. But I learned more in this experience. The resilience of mothers, the compassion i found from unlikely ordinary people, and that my God indeed answers prayers and always come through in times of need.
My baby flipped breech at week 36 I am currently almost 38 weeks and its looking like we may need a c-section :/ This helps me plan for this unexpected twist in our birth. we were really hoping for a vaginal experience.... The first lesson in parent hood, we have zero control ....
Hi Sarah! I would love to hear your thoughts on the cascade of interventions, c-sections, birth plans, and mom's who would like to avoid certain interventions or c-sections when possible. As you mentioned in the beginning of the video, 1 in 3 births happen via c-section. What is your opinion/feeling on that statistic? I feel like maybe that sounded like a positive. I don't think having a c-section is necessarily a negative thing, but it could be if it isn't what a mom is wishing for or if it could have possibly been prevented. Thanks so much and I really hope to hear an OB's perspective on some of these hot topics!
I had the same reason and the Doctors finally scheduled my csection for sept 19th. I had to convince them about that because they seemed not ok with it. Its so sad that we do t feel supported on that regard.
I had an emergency c section with my first. I was put to sleep and woke up to a beautiful baby boy 💙 The second time I had another c section this one was elective. Baby girl went straight to NICU because of breathing complications she is now almost 2 years old 🩷 I am currently pregnant with my Third choosing another elective c section with tubal ligation. We are waiting until birth to find out the gender. Praying for a health baby with no NICU stay that was really hard on me and I definitely want the bonding time in the hospital since this is my last baby!!! 💜💙
I’ve had 2 c-sections and also had laparoscopic surgery due to ectopic pregnancy last year…im currently 32 weeks pregnant and I have to have a planned c-section 💕
How did your c section recovery compare to the ecotopic surgery? I couldn’t even stand up straight or drive for a month after my salpingectomy probably due to the internal bleeding and then going through both Fallopian tubes and the belly button
@@SisterSanMiguel I had my c section almost 7 weeks ago .. I think due to the ectopic salpingectomy I kinda had a feeling of how recovery would be .. it’s way different like for example with the emergency salpingectomy I couldn’t stand up straight for a month but with the c section it was more painful but in a different area because they didn’t go through my belly button that and you really don’t have time to focus on the pain with a baby depending on you
I had an unplanned c-section that was very traumatic for me. All I was told was to be thankful baby and I were fine, never had any debriefing, the doctor barely looked at me, never came to any post op rounds, and right before being transferred to the operating table a a resident approached me (very upset patient) did not introduce herself but asked if I wanted a tubal. Not only was I not in a mental state to make that decision (disassociated so hard), I had no feeling or control in my arms at this point. I felt like all of it could've been avoided and I'm still struggling mentally 7.5 months later. My recovery took months too. I'm terrified of getting pregnant now.
Ugh. I had the same experience. 6 years ago. All I can tell you is you WILL heal and maybe even be willing to get pregnant again. May take time and that's okay. I'm finally pregnant again 6 years later and it's cause I was terrified this time. But hey I learned alot and found new hospital and new doctors and a doing an elected c section and just praying God works it all out! Hope God brings you healing and peace too. I know it's so hard to mourn an experience that you hear so many others have...but I promise you will get better. Took me about w years. Start working out. I started zumba and that really helped my mental state!
@@crosstamedheart9913 thank you for your kind words 💛 I'm doing so much better now and we're planning to start trying for another by the end of the year - maybe lol I found an excellent practice to work with and have extremely validating. I was in therapy for some time and on meds to help keep me balanced, I'm in a very different state than I was when I wrote that almost a year ago 🤗 Congrats on your journey! I'm happy to hear you've healed and felt encouraged to make choices for what you wanted rather than fearing what may be if you went for it. Wishing you much health, smooth delivery, and easy recovery!
I had internal bleeding after my emergency c-section. 9 days postpartum I had fever, went to the hospital and they had to operate again. It was a horrible experience. Had more pain than with the first surgery. It would be great to make a video explaining what makes complications happen. I feel like the medical team was at fault for what happened. They also refused to take out my catheter the day after the surgery even though I was walking and using the toilet on my own. Over 4 days I had that thing in me plus 3 drainage tubes. Very hard emotionally...
I know this is off topic but I can’t stop staring at your neck piece … I LOVE it ! Could you please tell me where I could get one for myself too ? Thank you 😃🙏
Thanks for this great video. Am almost 20 weeks pgd looking forward to having my first baby at 37yrs. Had PCOS so that hindered my process though I actually conceived naturally without any help and it was a huge surprise for me! I discovered that at 12 weeks! Since am 5 3' and 37yrs old does that make me a candidate for c section coz am tired of hearing my friends tell me my height and age qualifies me for that and it really upsets me.
Maybe it was just me but the worst part of my c-section was the gas pain afterwards. No one told me that air will get trapped in the abdomen. It was awful.
So glad it was helpful C-sections are something we deal with all of the time, so it is very familiar to us. But if you aren't in Peds or OB you don't always know what to expect...and for me, knowing what to expect is really really helpful!!
I had an emergency csection with my first and a Vbac with my second. This time, I am scheduling a csection. Even though I’ve had one before, I’m still nervous. I know what to expect, kind of, but this being the first time it is scheduled it is so unfamiliar. As always your videos are so informative and helpful. Thank you!
My too! I had an emergency section with my first and vbac with my second and am opting for a c section with this baby too as the recovery from the vbac was awful!
@@GCL82 I did, I had my third son 3 months ago. It went so so well! I am so happy with my decision in having a c-section this time. Recovery was so much easier than with the other two! Sending fast recovery vibes your way:) If you are interested, I just shared my birth Vlog video on my channel and I will be sharing the birth story very soon. Congrats again🥳
So glad you enjoyed it!! And thanks--we are glad to be back! This sweet little kiddo has been keeping us busy. We had to figure out a different situation for how to film because we actually film in Cec's nursery, and the only time we can film is when she's napping or asleep--LOL poor planning there. But she is getting much better at napping her in playpen, so should be good to go!!

Hoping for another natural delivery. I rather avoid a CS. Only hope for a non complicated birth again. God bless everyone during labor& pregnancy. Your video is very educational and informative. Please do a video on how to deal with bad acid reflux in last trimester. I choked and was gasping from it last night after waking up

Any tips on items that will help the healing post c-section? Example- peri bottle and ice packs still helpful? That sort of thing! Thanks for the info! So helpful!
I didn't need a peri-bottle for my C-section but I have a high pain tolerance so wiping and minor abdominal movement didn't hurt. I will say that the thing the helped me the most for recovery was a heating pad/ hot water bottle.

Thank you so much for this information! I had my first baby on July 24 via C-Section! It was unplanned. I had been induced at 41 weeks but baby wasn’t tolerating the labor and we couldn’t progress past a 7 dilation. Quick question that I hope you guys see! We had our 3 week checkup today for little man and he’s not back to birth weight. The pediatrician didn’t seem worried and just told us to try to feed a few extra times a day (we are breastfeeding). Is there any other tips you can give us to make sure he gains that weight back?
I'm an expectant mom (2x), I needed a planned csection because first baby was huge and breech. I came across a channel that had a survey "did you have a planned csection or emergency "? I tried to explain that not all unplanned csections are emergencies. There's a difference between a csection you weren't expecting that follows normal timelines and protocols and an emergency csection when you have to have that baby out in a couple of minutes. They got zippy at me :( said something along the lines of "well if my plan to have a natural birth doesn't happen then its an emergency to me!" Anyways, thank you so much for all this amazing content!

I had an unscheduled c-section and got birth trauma. The post-op room where I was stabilizing was what I didn’t know about and that was my worst experience so far. Nobody told me about the diarrhea and in-and-out it consciousnesses that followed the c-sec in the post-op room. Only after that was I sent to the mother and baby room. Why doesn’t anyone talk about that?
Oh and the pain even after the strongest medication can be so bad. I could hardly stand up for a few mins after going home, doing any type of chores was impossible. I think most people don’t tell you how bad it really is.
My first was breech, my second turned transverse when I was supposed to get a membrane sweep, so I'm getting a c-section both times. I never wanted anything other than to have a vaginal childbirth, so hearing that I had to have a c-section for both babies was really upsetting for me.
Hi Thank you for the the very informative video. Do we need to buy postpartum kit before delivery or does the hospital provide? If so which postpartum kit would you recommend? Thanks again

I'm getting a c-section on Halloween because my little one is breached they tried to turn her yesterday but weren't able to and the safest choice for her was a c-section
Had to have a c-section because my baby was breech frank and due to a heart shaped uterus(bicornuate uterus)my ob couldn't turn my baby around. At 36 weeks. (last week)my water broke and the c-section was inevitable I freaked out so much had a severe panic attack during the surgery it was the most traumatic experience. I still have anxiety thinking about it.
I had a successful induction but my labor was 30+ hours. After 3 hours of pushing I was a zombie and couldn’t even effectively push so we did the c-section. I definitely had some trauma and guilt postpartum. I know I tried my best but for many months afterwards I would feel sad and wish I had pushed for longer. My baby was face up with the cord around his head and my obgyn said it was an unfavorable position especially for a natural birth. Baby and I were healthy but I’m still hoping for a vbac the second time around!
Why did you feel guilty? You didn't do anything wrong and having a c section isn't even that bad. You just lay there while they pull your baby out. Not traumatic
I had a failed induction, so I had to have c-section. I started the induction process on the 11th of May and had unexpected c-section on the 13th of May because no progress of labor. I have never any major surgery, so I was scared.
I think going into surgery when you know you will be cut open awake is horrific. I would for sure ask for general anesthesia and if i don't see my baby till i wake up it's okay i have the rest of my life to hopefully spend with her. Hospitals seem to be so cruel with mothers, expecting them to not only be awake during surgery and only be given motrin and tylenol for pain management but also you will be kept awake by the medical staff to check your vitals every 2 H, expect to care for a newborn because putting them into nursery is apparently not acceptable anymore and breastfeed and go for walks in the middle of all of this.... i was lucky to have a vaginal delivery and hopefully i will have another one. I have a lot of respect for C-section moms because i would go to therapy for years after an experience like this...
I had a planned c-section two weeks ago. I was very freaked out by being awake for the surgery and I feel largely the way you do -- there is a weird cruelty to insisting women be awake. That said, the whole thing was way less traumatic and horrible than I had expected, both during and after, and the nurses at my hospital actively suggested bringing the baby to the nursery overnight so I could sleep. I was therefor 4 nights and they took him to the nursery each night. The recovery so far has been virtually painless (I've just been taking prescription Motrin by mouth every 6 hours). All of this to say... it's not so bad and I suspect vaginal birth might actually be worse in terms of pain and drama than a planned c-section.
You guys are amazing thank you. :) *Can I elect to be under general anaesthesia? I don't think I can emotionally handle being awake. *What medications/anaesthesia can effect the baby? *Can I breastfeed? Will the milk come in naturally? *Is the bleeding less after a c section? *Can I get the flora from a supplement/probiotic? *Can the mother and baby have physio for their body (straighten the spine like natural birth) *Is the pelvic floor affected?? Thanks again. :) :)
1, dont worry, its very fast, if you are anxious, try to talk to your care provider and let's them calm you, explain what they will do and so on... im scared too and my team helps so much 2, no info about it 3, Yes, i'm 100% breastfeed my baby Yes, if you feed your baby frequently , they will stimulate the milk to come (take 3 days for me ) 4, Yes
I had my first child delivered via c-section 7 weeks ago. My recovery was great, and my baby is very healthy (APGAR of 9!). I still greatly struggle to accept the way she was born. I struggle to even view it as birth, as I didn't feel I was in labor and wasn't given the opportunity to attempt vaginal birth. I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy and even after at least 3 cervical exams, it wasn't known my baby was breech until the ultrasound mere hours before the urgent (but not emergency) c-section. In fact, after expressing my concerns as to her position at 34 weeks, I was assured she was head-down from external palpitation. Since I'm thin, I was told it was easy to tell what was going on, so I trusted my doctors and midwives. I tried to do everything "right" so I could have the best vaginal delivery as possible. I wasn't prepared at all for such an outcome. I did not ask for or know what was available to me to have the birth experience I desired even if it were plan b. It all happened too fast. My husband was able to make it just in time, at least.
I think it has more to do with socioeconomic status than c-sections. Wealthier demographics like Asians and whites in the US have infant mortality rates on par with other OECD countries, but if you compare Massachusetts (lowest imr) to Mississippi (highest imr) you’ll see the difference is class related. Poor people overall receive worse health care, are disproportionately more likely to suffer with obesity or high blood pressure, and are less likely to partake in preventative care. Add in racial discrimination (like the dangerous myth that Black women can handle more pain) and we have a very awful situation on our hands. It’s a complicated issue with a lot of symptoms, and to me c-sections seems like the most unlikely culprit.
This was really helpful. I'm planning on a c-section for my first because I just simply don't want to have to mess around with 24+ hours of labor to just end up needing one anyway for whatever reason. Just in, out, thank you. A question I still have, though, is how are you supposed to wear a seatbelt on the way home from the hospital? The lap band sits directly in the c-section area so if there was a wreck or even if your partner had to brake suddenly to avoid an accident, it could really be not only painful but mess up the incision area.
I'm not a doctor but imagine that more damage could be done without a seatbelt than with one. I was in a car crash a few years ago and dread to think what would have happened had I not been wearing it (it would have been gruesome/fatal and it wasn't even a high speed collision) and would take a potential split incision over going through the windscreen. Hopefully someone will come along with official guidelines soon but that's my view. I've had a c-section too and always wore my seatbelt.

I wish I new about this 2 years ago when I was pregnant I had have emergency c section because my doctor never told me that I had severe preeclampsia until the week I had emergency c section and my liver and kidneys were failing and my son’s heart rate dropped it was very traumatizing hopefully when my pregnancy now hopefully I won’t have emergency c section
I noticed my baby being drowsy and eyes rolling in back of head of taking the codone so I refused it snd just did strength Tylenol. It was rough but worth it to not pass those strong drugs on to my newborn.

You mention to not lift anything more than 10 pounds….what if your baby is born at the 9/10 pound mark? Do you suggest some kind of support carrier or what options are out there?
I had a c-section with my first child due to cord prolapse, I had ZERO information about it because I was just preparing for natural delivery, and of course with cord prolapse the time from when they find out to them putting me in General anesthesia was only four minutes so I didn’t even have any time to process anything
My ob keeps me up in antinausea meds thank God. Otherwise I'd be in trouble. Driving after taking an opioid is insane especially with a newborn. Yea my husband will be my driver for sure or my mom. Ughhh this kinda scary.
Which type of incision closure is best? Sutures, staples or glue? I had sutures the first time but I’ve heard glue makes the incision heal better and therefore, it looks very thin when completely heal and looks like it’s barely there. I still can very clearly see a red, kind of thick line across my abdomen and it’s been 3 years since my emergency csec. Just wondering if there is a better option. Thank you very much and thank you for this great information you both just provided 😊

My body wouldnt go into labor no matter what they used to induce me and my daughter wasnt moving, they tried stimulation for her and she wouldnt move, heart heart rate never changed either. After 6 hours of trying everything they could think of they took me in for an emergency C-section. Turned out my daughter had transposition of the great arteries and had to be rushed to the children's hospital for emergency surgery to save her life.
I had a planned c-section a little less than 2 weeks ago and I feel... totally fine! I had a lot of anxiety going into it because I knew I'd be awake for the procedure and the idea of that creeped me out, but aside from the day immediately afterward, the recovery has been virtually painless.
Really? I'm so glad for you. Gives me hope too haha
wow that is so great to hear! makes me less anxious since my c section is coming up in a few weeks and i am terrified! haha
Thanks for your comment. This gives me so much hope for my planned CS in few weeks 😌
How long is the healing process
Do NOT ignore a fever after a c-section, DON'T take Tylenol and stay home. Please call your doctor or go straight to the ER! It happened to me, 6 days after discharge, I ended up with a fever and went to the ER and found out I had 2 bloodclots in my lungs and an infection in my bloodstream. Take your health seriously, if you don't feel right go and get checked out.
I’ve heard this so many times! Glad you are ok. Thanks for the reminder
Oh goodness scary
She is so smart and considerate as a doctor
Sending lots of positive vibes ✨ you will have a healthy baby and a safe delivery 🙏🏼

How did it go?❤
Had my first born 5 weeks ago.
Congrats to you and your baby! :)
Amen!! I was discharged 24 hours post c section with zero pain meds in February. It was barbaric and traumatizing. I’m so angry about it.
@@TheSarahscorbin oh honey. You didn’t deserve that. I hope all is well with you & your little one now♥️
@@sfindley28 thank you 💜 I followed up with the ob practice so they can make sure that doesn’t happen to anyone else ever again

Thankful for modern medicine and doctors! I needed a C-Section due to a Complete Placenta Previa and a low platelet count. It's wild to think that 50 years ago things may have been different.

Love that you recognized large fibroids for c sections! I have a 12cm one and c section is my only option ❤
How did it go ladies? How are babies doing? Im 33 weeks pregnant and have to have a C-section due to an obstructive fibroid I'm so scared
Thanks for the reminder. I will be getting my second c section next year
I’m looking at a c section in the next two weeks due to a previous pelvic fracture.
I’m having a 2nd csection. It’s been so long since I had my first born 16 yrs ago so this was very helpful 🙏🏼thank you😊
Good luck and safe delivery.
wow congratulations!
I had an unplanned c section 7 weeks ago and I started crying when they told me we had to have an emergency c section because the baby was in distress. I really wanted a normal birth , the recovery was really painful.
That's my biggest fear too
I had a traumatic birth experience that ended in a csection.
This video was incredibly helpful. I will be having a planned c-section due to myomectomy. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I had an emergency c section at 35w and one of the biggest helps was the belly binder. It was so much more bearable having the compression of the belly binder. Then I got a stronger belly binder. It helped so much.
I had my baby via c-section at 35 weeks as well. So preterm and emergency c-section. We were not ready for it. 😅
Congratulations. Hope you had a safe delivery.

Hope everything went well! ❤️

What are your thoughts on elective c-section due to anxiety/trauma, and to avoid pelvic floor damage?
Could you answer this question bc I also had a lapro and scheduled a c section
@@SisterSanMiguel I had my c section almost 7 weeks ago .. I think due to the ectopic salpingectomy I kinda had a feeling of how recovery would be .. it’s way different like for example with the emergency salpingectomy I couldn’t stand up straight for a month but with the c section it was more painful but in a different area because they didn’t go through my belly button that and you really don’t have time to focus on the pain with a baby depending on you
When you concieve after c section?

I was in therapy for some time and on meds to help keep me balanced, I'm in a very different state than I was when I wrote that almost a year ago 🤗
Congrats on your journey!
What hospital? So sorry to hear I hated the catheter ☹️
@@Sara-dp8wg it was one in Germany. Thank you and I feel for you 🤗
I love your necklace! And thank you for these videos, I love them!
Wish I had seen this before my unplanned c C-Section!
Maybe it was just me but the worst part of my c-section was the gas pain afterwards. No one told me that air will get trapped in the abdomen. It was awful.
Omw. How did you overcome or manage that?😟
Thank you for your informative video that help us to prepare for different things.
@@GCL82 me too, I tore really bad with my Vbac and my recovery was sooo long and painful!
How far along are you?
Sorry for the very long delay in responding. I am 38 weeks and am having my c section on Tuesday! Have you had your baby yet and how did it all go?
@@GCL82 I did, I had my third son 3 months ago. It went so so well! I am so happy with my decision in having a c-section this time. Recovery was so much easier than with the other two! Great information! Glad to see you back!

Can you please speak to delayed cord clamping during c-section?
I’m 36 weeks pregnant with my first baby! A boy! I have a Didelphys uterus and have been planning to try natural the whole time but at 35 weeks my OB told me it would be better to have a C section and now freaking out about the process..
Hoping for another natural delivery. I rather avoid a CS. Only hope for a non complicated birth again. God bless everyone during labor& pregnancy. Your video is very educational and informative. Please do a video on how to deal with bad acid reflux in last trimester. I choked and was gasping from it last night after waking up
Safe delivery for you as well🙏🏼😊
This is going to be my second c section. My first was an emergency due to baby being breached. This second cesarean birth is a possibility again due to the closeness of having my second baby (they will be 11 months apart). So I’m chosing to educate myself asap while I have nine weeks left! Thank you for the information to all us Mommas, including fathers who chose to inform themselves!! Props to you guys for your womens care
Can you make a video about twins. The different type and which type is more likely to end in c section
Any tips on items that will help the healing post c-section? Example- peri bottle and ice packs still helpful? That sort of thing!
Thanks for the info! So helpful!
I had a c section I didn’t need ice packs or peri bottle I think that’s more for vaginal birth

Thank you so much for this video!! I’m having a scheduled c-section in 3 wks due to a complete previa. This is by far the best video I’ve found.
I'm having one in 5 days! My first, because of my vasa previa. So nervous.
My baby is bigger, and they recommended me for a c-section, for a healthy delivery for baby~
I planned on having natural birth, but whatever is better for baby ill do~ this info helps a lot to understand a little better the procedure por a planned c-section~ ♡

@@XioArleendid you end up getting c section?
@@tammynguyen5765 hi, yes but doctors aren’t always accurate on the size of the baby as he was 7lbs. The C-section was due to other complications
@@XioArleen I'm 36 weeks and my baby is 7.7 lbs. I scheduled at 39 wks for an induction. I am healthy and so my baby. Just worried if my baby will be too big to push during the induction and end up get unplanned c section.
@@tammynguyen5765 why are you getting induced? I got what was called a “vaginal sweep” and that broke my water and now I wish I would of waited for the baby to come naturally. I wouldn’t do anything unless you are really past your due date.
Currently 34weeks preg with twins and both babies are head down and but my OBGYN wants me to go for a c-sect coz he says twin delivery can be unpredictable BabyB can turn after BabyA is out and I’m not happy with his reasoning especially because I have prior 2 nvd and I’ve never had any complications☹️ and I don’t like that I feel like I don’t have any choice in the matter
I just had my 2nd csection 2days ago. Still gonna watch tho!

Hey Sarah can you please post a video on vaginal bleeding and low lying placenta in first trimester,do's and don't.
Am I the only one thinking putting a woman, that just went through major abdominal surgery, onto Tylenol is ridiculous....?
In Taiwan, there's epidural for 48 hr+ 7-day long term pain control shot. Don't know why here in the States it's not part of the standard procedure :(
This is great information, thanks for sharing :)... how soon or when is it ok to wear a C-section belt after baby delivery and do you recommend any particular type? Also, how 'tight' should it be?

I'm getting a c-section on Halloween because my little one is breached they tried to turn her yesterday but weren't able to and the safest choice for her was a c-section
Can I breastfeed if I take any of the stronger meds?
This is so very helpful. Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
I used NAIR literally a day before 😮 my doctor didn’t tell me until 3 days before surgery
*Can I elect to be under general anaesthesia? I don't think I can emotionally handle being awake.
*What medications/anaesthesia can effect the baby?
*Can I breastfeed?
Will the milk come in naturally?
*Is the bleeding less after a c section?
*Can I get the flora from a supplement/probiotic?
*Can the mother and baby have physio for their body (straighten the spine like natural birth)
*Is the pelvic floor affected??
Thanks again.
:) :)

Yes, if you feed your baby frequently , they will stimulate the milk to come (take 3 days for me )
4, Yes
31 weeks and 4 days pregnant it’s my first baby
My husband was able to make it just in time, at least.
why do you think C section rates are so high in the United States compared to other developed countries, yet the infant mortality rate is much worse?

You mention to not lift anything more than 10 pounds….what if your baby is born at the 9/10 pound mark? Do you suggest some kind of support carrier or what options are out there?
My spinal block accidentally made me numb all the way up to my throat and almost took 30 mins. It was horrible and I felt like I couldn’t breathe
Same
I had a c-section with my first child due to cord prolapse, I had ZERO information about it because I was just preparing for natural delivery, and of course with cord prolapse the time from when they find out to them putting me in General anesthesia was only four minutes so I didn’t even have any time to process anything
