Very thoughtfully presented. I like the way you took time to go through the detail. And I agree, it’s an underrated car. I really like them; they look much better when you see them in the flesh …

It looks beautiful and i think its quite underrated. The proportions fit to the concept of the car and the lines still flow in the typical ferrari way.

The design is just gorgeous! Totally agree that the Mondial is a bit undervalued. Two keys for the doors are only because one lock must have been replaced.

A very thorough overview, and a lovely example of an under-appreciated car. Great video! This is really nostalgic for me. When I was a kid, a family friend of ours had a Mondial convertible. Blue on blue (with a blue roof). I was always amazed by the configuration - a mid-engined 4 seater convertible! Crazy! It’s as fascinating to me now as it was back then! Much like the 308 GT4, I think the market for these cars is starting to reflect their ingenuity and uniqueness, even outside the Ferrari community.

The mondial grows on me. The 328 to me is the best one. This color looks great. Excellent presentation.

Thanks for the video. You're right, that blue suits the car very well... Not surprised that the sunroof doesn't work; I was told never to open mine, a very delicate and expensive mechanism. I have the version after this, the 3.2. basically the same car, though. My clutch and brakes are not especially heavy, though -- actually very easy to drive, so maybe that was a change. They started galvanizing the body of these in 1985, I believe. They are still very vulnerable to rust. This one has relatively high mileage for a Ferrari, which is why it runs so well.

Nice video, thanks!.Some remarks = mondial started in 1981. Not 70thies. Mondial was more expensive new then 308 and 328. Car came with 2 keys. 1 for contact and 1 for the 2 doors. Steering wheel can be adjusted 3D. High/low and front/back. Seeing the weakness of the lights, this car has some electric problems...they all have. Important is a replacement for the fuse board. I make them if the owner needs one. Other weak point is rust. Door sills outer and inner side and doors inside. Car was repainted in the past. (The inside of the louvres (cheese opening) should be black, not blue). Normal for its age and that is why the batch is missing in the back. This car is a keeper.

Tires are available for the original rims. They are trx sizes and the original rims require vintage trx tires which are very expensive and terrible. This is why people swap them out.
The mondial badge should be to the right of the license plate and has been removed. Since it is a qv it should say Mondial Quattrovalvole.
Mid engine with a rear trunk is not that uncommon and many models predated the Mondial with it.
    Porsche 914
    Lamborghini Mirua
    Lotus Esprit
    Lamborghini Countach
    Ferrari 308 GT4
    Dino 246
The engine is mounted transversely. It was cheaper and easier to do than a longitudinally which is why you see it in the Mirua and Dino 246. When you get to the Countach and Boxer/Testerossa they went longitudinal. The model got it in its final iteration which lowered the center of gravity which is why that is the best handling version.

Indeed the tires are available, the initial constraint was a budget one, the set of original tires were significantly more expensive than the 4 replica rims + new tires, especially considering the shipping of the set to Dubai after I imported the car. I do not regret the shift though, I like the added practicality and still have the original ones in storage (although back in France). For the badge, you're absolutely right, but I do not know if it was a dealer option or something like that, because it's not my dad who removed it.

Mid engine cars and rear trunk were common indeed, but a 2+2 in that arrangement not as much, which makes this a very special model.

Did I hear him say this was the last rear-engined Ferrari??? So it is technically mid-engined as the engine is in front of the rear axle and after this car Ferrari has continued their mid-engined cars through to their current offerings. So that would be the 288GTO, F40, 328, 348, 355, 360, 458, 488, SF90, 296, F8 (probably missing some 😊) . Nice Mondial though. Blu Sera looks good on the car.
