@@rickidenise it might be too late by then the opportunities are now, While the prices are low on land properties, Its a leap of faith which is worth it.
There is scamming everywhere but people don't just change the price for regular things, based on who you are. Not everywhere. This type of scamming is the result of poverty and the ability of visitors to pay higher prices. I'm sure that in a "negotiation" society they don't even see it as a scam. They're just trying to make a good deal.
@Age of the Gemini Love Lol. When I said "THIS TYPE OF SCAMMING" I kind of said that it was scamming. Get with Loriann and you guys work this out okay.
Those of us coming from the West ARE usually able to pay higher prices, and why shouldn`t we? Before I go there, I consult with an internet money exchange site to find out what my currency is worth in Dalasi. I make my little cheat-sheet so that I am clear on how much money they are asking in my own currency. This gives me perspective because when I exchange my currency into Dalasi, I get an inflated idea of how much money I have (much less in my own currency). So I consider what the product is worth - how much effort was put into it? How much creative energy? What was the actual cost to the producer? What would I pay for the same product in my own country? And then I come up with a price that I think is fair to the producer/seller and what it is worth to me, and often I find that what they are asking is very reasonable, and I will not try to talk them down because they deserve( often) at least what they are asking. Other times, they are indeed inflating the price for my white skin (tubab that I am), but do not assume that they always do that. I have found many to be very reasonable and I have no problem paying them their asking price. Then I can enjoy my prize guilt-free when I get home with it.
Thanks. My brother just got there yesterday and I along with our mother will be coming next. Going to open some businesses there and help out in the community. So the tips are very helpful. ❤

Art Cathey is obnoxious ! She is an embarrassment to black Americans and so very disrespectful to the Gambian people and their culture. I cannot stand to hear her ignorance.
Andrew Clark Some African-American brothers and sisters expressed their disappointment in her attitude and anyone who didn’t see anything wrong with the way she insultingly pointed out the negatives aspects of Gambia is as small-minded as she is and has a white supremacist attitude as well. How do you call people brain dead simply because they don't do business as you do? How do you go to an African country and expect them to speak English as Americans do? Why don't you learn the language instead so the people see you as a sister or brother rather than insulting them? Ricki Denise seems a lot more mature and intelligent than Art Cathey.

I've been going to Gambia since April 2003. I have been going back there every year, sometimes twice a year since then until November 2019. Then Covid 19 stopped all that from happening. There is always something else to discover about Gambia. The fishing is good, the food is good and the beer is good although I am a little worried about the future of Banjul Breweries? On the whole the Gambian people are good. Very courteous, polite and honest. Good advice about Malaria. Get more. Take the tablets. With the "Bumster's" you have to learn to say "No" very early on in the conversation. And be firm. They will not want to attract attention. When things get back to normal I shall be going back as soon as I can. I love it there.
Lovely list, Rickeyta! My first visit in the Gambia was last summer, and I had to learn the hard way too to take care of the personal belongings. It was too easy. 😅 The silly thing is, I didn't even consider it happening until after the fact. I've learned from it, though!
Price gouging is different from scamming so don't equate the two. Scamming is pure criminal behaviour, and that is different from bargaining or haggling on a product. The fact is Europeans and Americans don't know what bargaining is because prices of products are displayed for the buyer to see before they buy. The practice is different in traditional African markets. You don't expect farmers selling their produce on farms to stick prices on them. They tell how much they want to sell and you tell them how much you want to pay until you reach an equilubrium acceptable to both the seller and buyer

The sex tourism is way over-exaggerated. It is just prostitution whereby adult african men and women provide sexual services for money. Only a tiny percentage of tourists are involved in it. Prostitution is far worst in the USA where not only do they hide but the US has the largest porn industry in the world.

Jalamang Jawula - In the Gambia it is seen as "If you see tourists old men or women with young bumsa or seeking opportunities or children together with a tourist guy in most case their parents involved in the business which mean the parents has a relationship whatever it is with that tourist then bring along her kids even more attractions or seeking an opportunity for her kids through that tourist person like sponsorships or friendships". However, to the rest of the world; it is seen and known as GROOMING. Paedophiles will target a family and spent years gaining access to the young child in the family, by pretending to be friends with the child's parent (s), or in the case of Gambians, offering to be a sponsor to their child for a better education. But, I guess you and people like you who are telling the people from the West that they are wrong, know more about these people who are short term visitors to your country. I mean, it's not like we live, go to school and work amongst them 24 hrs a day 365 days a year for our WHOLE LIFE.

@@jcamara6214 NO we are not saying the same thing. Just because you were lucky with your sponsorship, does not mean all of these other so call sponsors are doing something in the best interest of a Gambian child. When the word grooming is used in conjunction with paedophiles, it does not mean it is the action of making something looks presentable. It means that the child is been groomed for sexual purposes. It also means that the sexual predator is doing something to lower the parents' protective guard towards their children. Google sexual predators and grooming and see what comes up.
Adina Stevens yes but most Gambian benefits children from I know many schools where by they have friends in England or Denmark or Suisse students came to gambia 🇬🇲 specifically for that kind of program and again what you fell to understand that Gambia 🇬🇲 is unique and Gambians children are been watch not only the government but international organisations like UNICEF and others

Kiki you are soooooo ADORABLE..cute cute cute.
Your video is so crystal clear because you're filming using a proper video camera instead of the usual mobile phone.
Keep those videos coming.
We love you.
Awww yess thank you sooo much! 🥺🥰
That goes for any airport in the world not just in Gambia, if someone helped you they expect something in return.
You are right
I’m coming before I’m 35 I’m 24 now and growing my RUclips channel . I’m going to become a successful RUclips so once I get there one of my incomes is RUclips I give advice on things and just chill talking .
Wishing you the best of luck on your journey over here!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Believe it or not, actually moving now may blow your RUclips channel exponentially and get you to your dream way sooner. Of course, there may be other reasons why you're still putting it off. Good luck bro.
Ade Torrent yeah it’s more reasons plus I have things I have to complete before I leave but I’m definitely moving
Deshone Robinson go to my channel and watch my video called “Leaving America “ I even shouted out BAG in the video
No, it is scamming.
@Age of the Gemini Love Lol. When I said "THIS TYPE OF SCAMMING" I kind of said that it was scamming. Get with Loriann and you guys work this out okay.
Correct. Many online merchants already do this. With algorithms they can determine where you live and what you can afford, thus offer custom price.
SCAMMING
I think Art Cathey needs to learn a lot from you well said no insult no arrogance no supremacist mentality yet everyone got your message intelligent young girl 😍
Every one see things differently,
I love sister Art views too.
Honestly don't walk at night was not common sense for me. I am glad that I came across you guys RUclips channel because I am not savvy about being outside of the country. You guys need a tourist guide business. It would make people feel better at least I know I would feel safe whenever I get prepared. Good job loved the video
Alright noted👍🏾 Ricki online and BINTA on the streets 😂😂😂
The make up popin ❤️🥰
Like for real!!
Good that you said just like any other countries because I travel a lot and when you can’t speak the language people always want you to pay more most of the time. I don’t like the word scammer that’s why I don’t use it
You comment make sense .
I’ll be in serrekunda, Gambia next month. Thank you for the advice. I’m traveling alone so now I’ll know what to be aware of. ❤️❤️
Tiana how was it
Lovely list, Rickeyta! My first visit in the Gambia was last summer, and I had to learn the hard way too to take care of the personal belongings. It was too easy. 😅 The silly thing is, I didn't even consider it happening until after the fact. I've learned from it, though!
The scamming thing aka price gouging which is all over West Africa is due to poverty.
That's doesn't happen in west Africa only, in turkey and Tunisia, many other countries
Thank you for the information. Will be following your advice. I look forward to coming Gambia after this virus thingy is over. Do have a pleasant day.
Thank youu!!! ☺️☺️
@@rickidenise You welcome

Thank you for the information Queen and the referral to the BAG channel! Infinite success to you and the family☀️💫!
Surprised no one is mentioning how fantastically beautiful you look in this video luv. I also saw that you were pursuing a career in makeup/beauty/fashion and judging by the way your skin and makeup looks today I would definitely say you were pursuing the right profession (hope that is encouraging.) Loving the head scarf too. Thanks for the info, good as always.
That's a good information thanks for sharing your knowledge. Thses kind of contents are very important for people who want to move on to continent. The African continent is open for business. All u need is to be business minded with good knowledge.
I’m going to Gambia in February. Thank god my friend is from there and I’ll be hanging with him.
Negotiate taxi price for your journey before you even get in cab 😊

Thank you so much for your Honesty and input. 💜
Always welcome!! 🥰
You are so correct on all the things you said . I used to go to the crocodile pool all the time because it’s close to my home . Love the videos
Thank you so much for your vids. I am seriously considering moving from the states. Is visiting allowed right now? Travel advisories say borders are closed, but then I see recent vids of people visiting. I’m so confused 😩
Thanks for all of the tips and being candid about the experience! Shows like it will be a lot of fun if you know one of the natives .

Do you remember what airline you all took to get to Gambia? Trying to get a good deal on flights?
Rodney Morrison search CheapTickets to Gambia on Google
Hey sweetie love you guys and can't wait to visit next year! I was wondering if you could be our personal tour guide??$$
So helpful!! Also damn sis your makeup is flawlesssss 😍
Thanks for keeping it real. Especially about the sexual tourism 🤢
The sex tourism is way over-exaggerated. It is just prostitution whereby adult african men and women provide sexual services for money. Only a tiny percentage of tourists are involved in it. Prostitution is far worst in the USA where not only do they hide but the US has the largest porn industry in the world.
mola3845 children aren’t prostitutes though. It is exploitation. And yes, it happens worldwide and needs to stop. It’s especially disgusting seeing colonizers with African children. And out in the open 😳
It was so disgusting to see while I was there. It was all over Gambia
sassysid100 😢
sassysid100 that’s not true. It’s exaggerated. It’s just I tiny part of Gambia. How dare you say “it was all over The Gambia” as if you traveled the whole country. Some of you re pothological liars. stop generalizing it.
My family is from Gambia and partly Senegal but I’ve never gotten a chance to visit, in shaa Allah I will visit soon
Africa is good for your skin ! Keep doing what you are doing. Also, regarding the mosquitoes, have you tried Skin-So-Soft (Avon)? My daughter lives in Saudi; sent her some😏 Peace
Yes! We used to use it a lot when we first came and still do! ☺️

Aww thanks boo! 🥰
Thanks for the video and all that info. I cant wait to get to Gambia
Go an experience yourself not from her 🤥
@@blakeshaggy8443 Been to that region before and experienced many thing. I'm referring to my repat journey there. For which all this detail is useful.
I've been here for a week by myself so far and it doesn't seem that dangerous, but then again I'm fairly athletic and muscular so that might deter a few thieves at least. Most things you said seems pretty accurate and I have to emphasis to everyone:
DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT exchange money with anyone, the rates they offer you is an absolute joke. Order a prepaid card BEFORE you travel, top it up with some change and withdraw from the atm at hotels. If you need more money just transfer it from your main bank account to the prepaid card and use the ATM.
What do you mean pre paid card? And how do you get that
Hello, I'd like to visit soon. Is COVID vaccination a requirement for entry?
I don’t think so if u don’t do vaccine u can do covid test I think check online x
@@_yktvv___3386 I've looked online and it doesn't seem to be a requirement, I just wanted to confirm with one who recently traveled. Thank you🙂
What is a prepaid card?? I don’t get it
GREAT video cuz can you add the places/ Hotels in the description box . Thank you again.
Peace and Blessings to you Always

To the point. Like your approach in giving details in your videos. Keep going. Stay pretty, sweet and safe.
Aww thank you so much! 🥰
If you see tourists old men or women with young bumsa or seeking opportunities or children together with a tourist guy in most case their parents involved in the business which mean the parents has a relationship whatever it is with that tourist then bring along her kids even more attractions or seeking an opportunity for her kids through that tourist person like sponsorships or friendships is hard to exactly know what’s going on because in Gambia 🇬🇲 many schools children or the school it self get sponsorship through tourist programs that’s common
EXACTLY! Hiding behind legitimate causes. These pedophiles are the sickest. There should be ABSOLUTELY ZERO CONTACT WITH CHILDREN!
Adina Stevens I guess we saying the same thing you just went further than me,thank you for your participation am speaking from my experience while I am there as a child in regarding to sponsorship
