We are so lucky to live in a country with all the diverse beauty and you've reminded me to be grateful (even though we still have nearly a month of heat left down here). And your woodstacks are gorgeous! But you have this amazing talent of living beautifully, inside and out. You could never be uninteresting. I'm glad your medical misadventures are at rest for awhile. I can't know how hard it is for you but I have my own physical issues and watching you inspires me to try harder. Winter shouldn't make you feel less connected to the earth, even for the way you like to practice. Think of it as the last quarter of the moon. It's also a good time to remember your own Scandinavian/Nordic ancestors. They were (and still are) always outside in winter. Something I liked to focus on in the winter was sound - or silence. In winter both are profound. Then again, I can't really talk. I live in perpetual summer and it's my least favorite season. I'm starting to resent it. Leaving your first family home is so heartbreaking! I was so connected to mine I thought I would die inside. I don't know what's coming for you - if it's a remodel or a move - but I know the feeling of not wanting to change a thing. Every sill, every creak is a family member. The pain subsides eventually, and then you find great pleasure in recalling the details. And freedom in creating a new space. Sheesh! I'm so chatty with you and we don't even know each other. Finding about your Norwegian heritage will give you a good insight into your soul. I, too, am half Norwegian and half Swedish. I do spend time walking barefoot, laying on the ground, touching the trees, listening to the birds and animals communicate with me. The knowledge of things, praying it never will happen, but it does and you deal with all the emotions coming to you. We are all part of this earth but some are more connected or at higher levels of understanding. You will find what you are looking for as you discover your ancestry.
Totally feel you on the winter months making the direct connecting to nature more difficult. Today I vlogged my last sunrise for the year outside all by myself with mother nature (as now the sunrise is too late in the morning and baby wakes up before it 😭) and it really was such a sad moment of realization that I will now have to wait half a year again and that soon all the natural bounty will be dried up, covered with snow or dead.
Autumn in New England is why I stay here. It is spectacular. I still walk barefoot even in winter, but I'm a cold-loving person. I find winter a much needed time to read, study, make herbal medicine. Perfect time to make tinctures from all the gathered plants over summer. There's something so magickal about the quiet and stillness of winter. I love nothing more than to be snowbound with the woodstove, a cuppa and a book. Today is a beautiful fall day and I'll be baking an apple pie. Annie, when you talk with your grandmother or any others of an older generation in your family be sure to get any stories the may have. About them or even any others that have gone before them. Record them in any way you can. Those stories about your family and where they are from will be priceless to you, others in your family and generations to come.

I envy your long summer. I don't mind autumn and winter, but it did'nt stop snowing until end of May in Northern Norway this year. And it has been raining with just 5 degrees (41 degrees fahrenheit) pretty much all August. And we have already snow on our peaks. My mother was Norwegian also. I live in Canada but have relatives in Minnesota (surprise! surprise!) who I have never met or been in touch with. I have been building my family tree on Family Search and found my mother's mother's family going back all the way to the 1100's! I hope you find some connections to your Norwegian roots, and that you eventually get there to visit. It is a spectacularly beautiful country, too. I am so enjoying following your journey. When my daughter decided to marry into a Hungarian family I booked a ticket to Budapest via Norway. (To introduce myself to her future mother-in-law) Best thing I ever did! I felt more at home there than I dreamed possible and I have so much in common with even my second cousins!! Went back 4 more times over 7 years. Just go!!

Autumn is my favourite season too and I can't help but feel a little bit of longing as I watch you prepare for Autumn, as that is still six months away for us in the Southern Hemisphere. Living in another melting pot of a country, I share your longing to connect to my roots, although mine are many many generations back and I am such a mix of European cultures, it's hard to know where to start.

I've always wanted to record my dad's stories (69). He's been a pilot and mechanic all his life, and has traveled the world.

I envy your long summer. I don't mind autumn and winter, but it did'nt stop snowing until end of May in Northern Norway this year. And it has been raining with just 5 degrees (41 degrees fahrenheit) pretty much all August. And we have already snow on our peaks. It's beautiful, but I wish we would have more warmth in this cold and sad year :(

My mother was Norwegian also. I live in Canada but have relatives in Minnesota (surprise! surprise!) who I have never met or been in touch with. I have been building my family tree on Family Search and found my mother's mother's family going back all the way to the 1100's! I hope you find some connections to your Norwegian roots, and that you eventually get there to visit. It is a spectacularly beautiful country, too. I am so enjoying following your journey. Your a natural, stop second guessing yourself. The quiet laid back music and simple imagery work well with who you are and you project yourself though those edits very well. @@piggyparty7242 I probably should have made this clear in the video but it was entirely covid conscious, it was very small, only immediate family, everybody was masked and socially distant the entire time and it took place outside. As long as you're careful and smart you can still have weddings during this time and was really a very lovely distraction from all that has been going on

I've been following your videos for several months, connecting with your story and perspective in a number of ways. Your postings about appreciating the moment, your local place and the changing seasons has resonated since the start of the pandemic as I've spent a lot more time around my house and the few blocks around where I live. With regards to your health challenges, I spoke to my elderly father about them and showed him this latest video. He has recently lost the sight in his right eye and has been fighting depression and I was trying to show him that people still find paths to beauty in the world. Autumn is my favourite season too and I can't help but feel a little bit of longing as I watch you prepare for Autumn, as that is still six months away for us in the Southern Hemisphere. Living in another melting pot of a country, I share your longing to connect to my roots, although mine are many many generations back and I am such a mix of European cultures, it's hard to know where to start.
