So fun to see a trijet! The DC-10 is beautiful and fits the AA livery so well. Still holding out that you’ll consider an L1011, I flew on those a ton in TWA Twin Stripe, and to me it’s iconic
You are SOOO lucky to fly on an L-1011. As a current High School Junior, I'm jealous that I didn't get to fly on iconic planes like a Concorde, L-1011, etc. I did get to fly on the 747, but let's be real here, a 747 is NOT something to brag about. We all have been on a 747.
I actually saw DC-10 flying recently, I'm excited to see how this one turns out! Also, fun fact: This will be the first plane I see you make since I've subscribed to you.
Dude this is gunna be awesome! I love your videos because my dad was a higher up supervisor at southwest, and United / continental. You inspired me to build a United 737. I am so excited for this build you are doing of a DC-10. Glad your back.
You NEED to participate in LEGO Ideas!! These planes deserve their own lineup! Im sure that if you were to put your British Airways 777 or Emirates A380 on the LEGO Idea list; it would easily pass 10,000 signatures to qualify.
On the lower front on both sides, it should say "DC10 Luxury Liner" The registration should be "N110AA" This plane should be American Airlines Flight 191
DC 10 was a very advanced airplane sadly it had some problems and some of them undeserved reputation but still an excellent aircraft. Man, I wish I was rich I would keep you busy for a very long time.
Welcome back! I SO look forward to follow this build! The DC-10 is a personal favourite and I have had the privilege to fly in it several times (allthough in the -30 variant in SAS and Scanair colors). The widebody triholers DC-10 and L1011 are two iconic aircrafts and DC-10 is special. Yes, it had it's fair amount of bad rep but in general was quite successful fulfilling the role it was designed for. And its looks are nothing but spectacular! Have you ever stood below #2 engine and looked up? I have. Woah! It's giving the 747 a run for its money, only falling short 2m in height. :) As for your new take on motorization, I think I know where you're going and man... that is awesome! I wonder if you're going to have separate motorization for the hatches or use some clever mechanism and piggyback on the main motorization?... Hmm... But a stand will be nescessary I get that, how else are you going to show off the technical marvel that mechanism truly is? Speaking of which - I think it's completely mesmerizing to watch the process and it's heavy ASMR vibes for me when the doors close completely in the end of the cycle. Can watch it over and over again! :) As for the stand attachment - I guess that will also pose some challenges since you're dealing with both load and torque (given the large wingspan and body length). I just built a custom MOC at about 5kgs and a wingspan of 5ft or so and even at that "small" size the load on certain areas are... significant. Speaking of interesting challenges: you mention the non dihedral wings yes but (ironically) the DC-10 has a greater dihedral angle of the tailplane instead. But they're smaller so I guess that's less of a challenge. On the other hand the body is narrow there and you have to cope with the load of the #2 engine too. Should make for some interesting solutions, I am very curious about how you're gonna solve it. But as always, you never cease to amaze with clever solutions to technical challenges - especially those regarding load distribution on large Lego models. Good luck with the build!
The stand will end up being a fairly large undertaking on its own. The base will likely need counterweights to keep the whole thing stable. I’ll also be incorporating locking pins that lock the stand to the inside of the plane to help keep it stable. Hopefully the load won’t be too much.
Awh dang it, I was hoping you'd make an L-1011 because, let's all just agree, that the L-1011 was a better trijet than the DC-10. Whatever, I'm just glad that you've returned from a few months after the Air Force 1 707 project! Can't wait to see how you make the DC-10. Because on some DC-10s there were lounges for the First Class passengers, First Class didn't look like the First Class seats we have today, etc. Besides the L-1011, I think you should make more Airbus jets. Like the A320 or the A350.
So will you be tearing apart your 757 to salvage the chrome pieces. I remember you originally wanted to do a DC-10 but settled with an American 757. If you ever decide to do another 757, I'd love to see a United or Delta either the -300 or in a special livery
Yes. In fact the 757 has been apart for a while now. It had issues warping that couldn't be resolved. I would like to at some point down the line rebuild it in a different livery, but we'll see how the timing works out.
@@BigPlanesCustomLEGOaircraft Hey, after you’re done with the American Airlines DC-10, can you please build a Vought-Sikorsky VS-44? It’s a flying boat.
After a building hiatus, I've finally started my next project! Let me know what you think!
I have always loved the dc-10 and seeing it being built in lego has made my day!
Make N110AA because to pay tribute to the people that died in 1979 by flight 191
Hello bigplanes after you finish this project (or maybe even during it) could you please build the me 334?
I'm British and I love planes.
sure it will look amazing!!
Ha! Never guessed when I suggested it, that you’d actually build one! Super happy you’re doing a DC-10!
He's back, the legend has returned.
The Madlad is truly back:)
Yes indeed

Are you being serious ?

It’ll be really interesting to see how you do detail! Very talented, young man, and man. I can’t wait to see this!
Glad to have you back building another great model, cant wait to see the end result!

YAY! 🎉 I enjoy watching you so much
Great to see you back after a while BigPlanes!
So excited to see this come together!!
Also, motorized landing gear sounds awesome if that’s what you’re doing. If not, maybe a future build?

I bet the new motorized thing is motorized slats on the leading edge of the aircraft wing.

Bro is back after a long time with a beautiful project ❤❤😊
Those engines are massive! And going to be made out of lego? Good luck on the plane!
yes they are
In my opinion, you should add a feature where the cargo door can come off, and the plane can crash.
motorised gear? excited to see you back
Can you recreate the 405 movie, the one where an American DC-10 lands on a highway?
I’ll consider it!
that's a big plane man I actually started working on a plane as well a 737-800 I loved yours so I wanted to build one too!
HE'S BACK!!!!
Try as much as you can to make an ideas set, I will pay any amount
I wonder what he's motorizing, maybe landing gear, or slats, or maybe spoilers
thought so, landing gear!

I would prefer the MD-11 but not bad

welcome back! The planes that he made has always been highly reductive.
Haven’t made a wide body trijet yet!
Looking good. Given that you're placing it on a stand, is the gear what you're motorizing?
Smart inference...
He takes ages to upload but he made a video 🎉
DO NOT FORGET TO ADD THE FIRST CLASS AND COACH LOUNGE
Lockheed Tristar has a galley bellow the main deck!

An idea to submit to Lego for an actual set. An Embraer E-175.
