- Purdue University Dorm Tour of McCutcheon Residence Hall
Follow me as I show what a typical college dorm at Purdue University looks like. The dimensions of a standard AC double room is 11'6" wide and 16'2" long. These rooms come with closets, which are really useful for keeping clothes and storing useful things.

I lived in McCutcheon Hall in the 1969-70 school year with my roommate Jim Keogh, whose dad was the mechanical contractor for the building. Jim saw the building before anyone had resided there. Thanks for the tour and memories! In Fall 1970, we moved to Shreve as it opened for the first time. There we met floor mates with whom we have returned to campus for football games since 1974. We are disappointed in the delay of football in 2020, but may see something in the Spring. I hope your Purdue career went well.
That’s actually so cool. You’re like 70 years old now?
@@VaibavM I will turn 70 in May 2021.
McCutcheon Hall is the best dorm. I had the wonderful opportunity of being at Purdue in an International Program, financed by the US Department of State and the US Embassy in Portugal. I was chosen to represent Portugal. Until this day, still miss Purdue, the dynamics, the spirit, the dorm...EVERYTHING. Thanks for showing Purdue!
Wow, what an awesome experience 👌🏼
@@simplyNimal it really was. I lived Purdue so so much. The dorm, the room classes... One dya I ll back to Purdue and to that Dorm. It is just nostalgic and awesome having this beautiful memories of everything
thanks for showing a wider shot of everything at the beginning. I'm looking at a lot of similar videos to this and they all fail to do this, instead doing a close ups of what they brought from home. fantastic video!
Thank you!!!
I enjoy your intros pretty cool images and songs; also just finished all Harry videos
Bro......I would plan you on Sonic Riders on Gamecube right now 😂😂 frfr 💯 lol and your edits is dope asf
The kitchennet must be new. Didn't have one when I was there in 2013.
Excellent 👍👍
Wow nice video and good feedback, keep it up kid
Thank you for this video. I’m trying to pick a school
Hopefully Purdue is up there!!! 🚂🚂
simplyNimal update! I think that’s my choice
Luna Vail me too!
Very useful video. Keep it up!
Nice
My daughter accepted and will be attending. Hoping to get into WIE LC. Not sure if that has a dorm associated. Thanks for the tour!!!!!!
No problem!!!
Thanks for tour. How much is cost of laundry? Washer & dryer.
Washer: $1.75
Dryer: $1.25 for 60 minutes and $0.25 for 15 extra minutes.
Why are the floors linoleum?
When you're lying down in bed, can you feel the air from the fan you have on the desk? I'm thinking of getting the fan but it doesn't seem like you would feel the fan air if you are lying down.
You would only get a little bit of air based on my configuration, but you can customize it to your liking.
@@simplyNimal Ok cool. Is the fan able to point downward to get more air or no?
No it can’t tilt downwards.
what is your housing cost every month?
Do you think bringing a monitor would be a good idea and do you think it would fit in the provided desk? My monitor's dimensions are 20.9 x 8.3 x 15.8 inches so I'm wondering if I should bring it with me.
If you really needed a monitor, you can always loft your bed to give yourself more space. Ultimately, it's up to you if you want to bring a monitor.
Do you know why your bed didnt have the shelves behind it?
It's because I didn't loft my bed, but they are not shelves; it's just the frame of the bed when lofted.
No, theyre shelves. I lived in earhart 1 summer my sophomore year
I'll email your hall
@@arielbay5642 harrison doesnt have the shelves either, i'm pretty sure the dorms just decided to spend their upgrade/maintenance money differently- earhart added shelving, harrison+mccutcheon put their money elsewhere
Quick question, do the dorms have ethernet ports?
Yes
@@simplyNimal How good are the internship/Co-op/job opportunities at and around Purdue for Computer Engineering? Is there a Career/Job center that helps students at the School of Engineering or at the College find and apply to these opportunities?
hi! what are the dimensions of your rug? trying to figure out what size to get :) i'll be in a standard ac double in harrison hall so i think they're the same?
I think it’s 5x8.
What size bedding did you use? I'm bringing twin with me but the bedding size listed on the dorm website is kind of weird.
I used a Twin XL iirc.
@@simplyNimal Do you know if twin bedding would work? I don't want to buy twin xl bedding unless I have to as I already have regular twin bedding on me.
Thriving Anarchy For my dorm, it was perfect, but i think you’ll be fine with just a twin.
@@simplyNimal Alright cool. Thanks for the info.
@@thrivinganarchy5267 hey i’m an incoming freshman
did the twin fit well or did you need to go for the twin xl?
Great video. I was a bit upset about being placed in McCutcheon since I’m majoring in physics so it’s a 20 minute walk for most classes, but its relieving to see how nice the dorm and building is.
Yes, I agree!!! Even though it’s far from the campus, it’s actually a nice dorm to live in.
Hey sorry for the slightly question but i'm applying to purdue physics for 2021 so can i ask what your stats were?
20 minutes? wtffff
A student was stabbed to death by his roommate in this dorm last year. I can see how it would have been difficult to escape given the layout of the room. Horrifying!
I came to your channel recently during in the research of Purdue University. I am currently studyin in 12th from India and I would like to stidy Aerospace engineering in Purdue University. Can I know your honest opinion on this university and is there any financial aids such as scholarships. Then housing facilities and any part time jobs . I would like to get a honest review from your side, it would be helpful for me
I know this is an old video but how’s the ac situation in the dorms? I recently got assigned to mcutcheon and saw that it came with AC but I’m still a bit curious
Very helpful, thank you! We’re moving in my son this weekend
His subscribers are 666...im a lil concerned
umm...
Is that middle bookcase between the two beds that holds the games and stuff come with the room/standard with other similar dorm rooms like at Shreve etc?
The bookcase was something my roommate brought over, so it does not come with the room.
@@simplyNimal Oh sweet. Also, did you raise your bed at all or is that the default height the beds are at in the video?
@@thrivinganarchy5267 I did not raise my bed, but my roommate did, so that's how a loft configuration looks like.
@@simplyNimalok cool. I'm coming to Purdue next year for FYE so I'm just wondering about some random things in terms of dorms and stuff like that.
how much for the dorm?
For McCutcheon, it’s $4860 per year. Here’s the website where you can find the rates for other dorms: www.housing.purdue.edu/Housing/RoomRates/
TAMU or Purdue?
@@sanyuktapawar3774 Purdue
So if you decide to loft your bed, you have to bring your own desk? I thought the school provided a desk and lamp
They do provide desk that comes with a light, but some people want to customize their area by bringing their own setup like desks and chairs.
Did the power strip come with the dorm room or did you buy that yourself?
Thriving Anarchy I bought it.
