great to see a new hamster owner who has done research and has provided a large bin cage and set it up so nicely too . toto really loved exploring all the hides and areas of the enclosure it's so nice to see her settle in and use her sand bath too .

I love how you did your research before getting a hamster. You didn’t go though the same mistakes as a lot of hamster owner (including me) well done and robos are such amazing creatures. :)
i like these first hamster videos mainly to see what breed and color people pick. i really like how much thought you put into getting a hamster. you did everything right. make sure to save a vet fund. my syrian was over $300 recently in vet visits. each hammy is so different. my robo refuses to run on his wheel or burrow. he was starved by previous owners and by the time i got him he was quite elderly. he loves all chew toys whimzee dog treats are a favorite. also apple sticks and the small wicker balls with crinkled paper inside are his best toys. the mealworms were a great choice. all my hamsters love them. the dry one are like rodent potato chips. i hear the live ones are healthier but just cant do it.
aha my ham doesn’t really burrow either, i deffos want to try out the whimzee chews i’ve heard a lot of good things about them, and same don’t think i could ever deal with live insects 🥴
Try more bedding and mixing texture like 2 parts paper to almost a part hay or just some paper mix with hemp shavings
Just a few suggestions, you really should get paper bedding I know that the bedding you have is harder for hammys to burrow. Also I would recommend making your cage more cluttered, as hamsters are natural prey animals they like there cage to be cluttered. I see you have a couple sprays in there great job!

You could attach a tupperware on the lid where you want to put your wheel so you can have tha same amount of bedding everywhere!

i just got mine today! i’m not handling her yet obviously, but in the store she seemed pretty chill. shes loving exploring her new cage! I have a niteangel ladder thing (idk what to call it) leading up to a niteangel platform where her food and water is, which she hasn’t really found out how exactly to get up there yet 😂. She’s a mix of brown/tan with black and some white! I named her Eevee after the pokémon. i can’t wait to start handling her and taming her.

i love all of this but I prefer paper bedding as it is better at holding burrows, this is just my opionion

I’m glad you’ve done research but just because dwarfs are smaller doesn’t mean they need smaller. They need just as big as a Syrian.

Hello I’m just wondering and suggesting hamsters love to burrow and they would like the bedding to stay for continuing and maybe if u can 6-10-12 inches for burrowing
yepp i’ve got around 10 inches of bedding don’t worry :))
But at the end of the day that are animals and deserve a loving home 🏡💞😅

The setup is very nice, but the only thing that i would personally change is the cage type, i would recommend a 55 or more gallon fish-tank just because it’s glass so it wont stink as much. You could also get a pre-made DIY cage from amazon, those are really helpful too. But tis still is a very nice setup that will keep toto safe and enriched.
I think this is a budget cage. If so, i dont think a 55 gallon fish tank would be in their price range.

is a 21cm wheel ok for a dwarf hamster? im planning to get the same hamster as urs but im scared i might buy the wrong stuff since i have a budget
it should be fine, however bigger is always better so you should aim for around 25-30cm this will also make sure you won’t need to upgrade in case it’s too small, so you’ll save money :))

they’re quite a popular breed so if you search online about any hamsters up for adoption near you, you should be able to find some :)
Don’t get me wrong,I am in love with the fact that u actually did ur research,but I’m not really sure about the bedding,it doesn’t seem to hold burrows very well…
it’s been over a year but i’ve since started using a mix of paper bedding and orchard grass hay :)

Its so so nice to see someone with propper care who has done their research one thing i would say you can improve on is that the BARE minimum for a dwarf hamster is 100x50x50 you also need to add a variety of sprays (at least 7 different types), forage, at least 3 substrates, coco soil and a multi chamber hide. I would also recomend not to get ur hammie from pah (pets at home) because by buying a pet from them ur supporting them buying from rodent mills (a wharehouse where rodents are bred and bred again until they cant anymore in awful conditions. Im not trying to spread hate as i want whats best for ur hammie ❤

Man I wish I had a hamster all of my pets died, my turtle,my fish,my hedgehog, and 2 hamster died I never gotten a pet again after that

1 teaspoon is way too little food it should be feed 1 to 2 tablespoons every other day
1-2tbsp every other day is the same amount as 1tsp every day

it’s hemp bedding-suitable for hamsters and not rough at all, it’s quite soft despite its appearance :)
