First Avenue Fairbanks: Saving Our Places

  • This 1999 - 2000 program examines some of the historical structures along First Avenue in Fairbanks, Alaska. Through interviews, photos and moving images, the history of the street and the town as a whole are examined. Those interviewed include Richard Frank, Janet Matheson, Joanna Philips, Charles Bettisworth, Scott Fisher, Marion Hutchison Acord, and Peter Bowers. This program was a project of the Tanana-Yukon Historical Society, and was supported in part by the Alaska Humanities Forum, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Alaska Association for Historic Preservation, and Moving Images.
