    Spreading a thin covering of sand to catch dropped render works well on hard surfaces. Just brush up at the end of the job.

    they will always have a back out clause. I live in Blackpool and have a k rend company that specialises in EWI and render systems and there is always an argument to how they would not warrant anything. I believe to back all my works myself.

    They want you to buy their products that why they recommend using theres or no warranty! They know full well other companies products are just as good because these companies inspect other companies products so they know how good they are! Its all to make them more money! Great job as always kirk love watching your videos

    Evening kirk. I have a garden wall half concrete block half thermolite. I have bought HP12 for the base coat😬. Take it I would need to get HPX instead

    Good stuff, you might always get bother where thermalite blocks have been used, makes it worse when bricks are used in with them due to thermal difference off the materials, typically on older houses you see this 👍

  • @mickydola6472
    @mickydola6472 Год назад

    Kirk could you use a concrete slurry mix on that back ground aswell and build a key up as another option?

  • @damprotek
    @damprotek Год назад +3

    SBR is a polymer and you could probably just tip some of that in your base coat instead of buying another bag of something different I love your videos I like the way you talk you're down to earth and you're a very good plasterer being a plaster of myself I'm always learning I've done this work before and I've actually used the base coat as sand and cement And if you put SBR in the mix you come slightly flexible scratch coat it level it out and float it works out cheaper

    Always spray some sbr on prior to basecoat. K rend say you don’t need to on top there basecoats for the top coat so don’t bother but do with the base. Also say the mesh should sit near top of a light scratched basecoat. Lovely video buddy.

    The only thing worse I found for coating on other than K-Rend was a lead based plaster I once used. It was for an x-ray room at a hospital. That stuff weighed a tonne and was thick and sticky.

    Hey Kirk, do you need to prime brick/blockwork before base coat goes on mate? Thanks in advance 👍🏻

    • @scottdaynes9811
      @scottdaynes9811 11 месяцев назад +1

      You can prime with R10 and still use HP12 basecoat. If you dont want to add this extra step, use HPX which negates the need for primer.

    Carpenter & Joiner for 37yrs here & I fucking hate Thermalite blocks they are just fuck wank for fixing to & the older they get the worse they get.
    Bricklayers love them because they are light weight & piss easy to pay but apart from their thermal efficiency there is literally nothing good about them.

    Would never use Krend or silicone renders their rubbish . You can’t beat a lime breathable render simple as that . Just another gimmick that looks good for a month then goes green or the bricks & blocks start weeping rubbish
