I’m trying to buy the bracket where the 8 mm Allen bolt goes through. The bolt hole 🕳️ stripped on me mechanic told me we can place the bolt with a bolt 3/8 of an inch longer so it can snug the pulley against the bracket or he said change the entire mount. He said rethreading the bolt hole would not be good since it’s a moving vibrating part of the engine what are your thoughts?
I've never done that water pump but wouldn't it be easier if I just pull out the whole water passage housing, replace the pump outside and then put everything back together of course with new seals ?
@@TC-cd5sm yeah do so ... I showed how to take out the alternator in this video but u don’t need to it was for demonstration purposes u will see in 2nd part how I should u can slip the tensioner under the alternator to by pass
Was changing my alternator and when I was almost finished and putting on the bottom bolt to the belt tensioner I fucking broke the bolt. now it’s stuck and so am I. I guess I gotta buy a new bracket or take that one off and extract that broken bolt. 😅 wish me luck
Thanks for the video , dealership quoted me 1000 dollars for this including parts
That’s lott
this explained so much. Step by step thank you
Welcome!! This video will help lot of people
good video, thanks, I subscribed. I'm replacing the belt tensioner today on my 2017 honda. I'll record it and put it on my channel.

I would do it as I show
@ 3:50 I’m kinda confused here. To prevent fuse from blowing do I disconnect the battery or no?
Yes disconnect the battery but I show how u can without it
Will be easier to remove the bracket engine mounts to give more Spaces?
U can do that bout don’t need to do all that and support the engine

It about time it will fail any time so if u want u can just knock it out so u good for another 100k miles
@@RBTheMechanic thanks man
@@RBTheMechanic I was planning to do mine in 2 weeks at 120k miles and it went out today at 119k miles. Thanks for the video!
What is the size of the L that is locking the belt tensioner?
5/16th
The what? 14mm
Brother in 2017 when I go reverse the car vibrate, what need to do, thanks
Check ur engine mounts
@@RBTheMechanic thanks brother I check that because make me crazy that noise
I wonder what happens if battery is disconnected?
U can try it
I used a duralast water pump and after only 16k miles its leaking again.
Yeah those fails always cheap autozone stuff I hate them
@@RBTheMechanic yup auto zone has life time warranty on it so idk if I should get another one for free or spend almost $200 on oem from Honda.
@@badarahmed5137 buy from online do some forum research asin is good brand use that
How many miles on this car? I'm just over 150k and my 2014 has zero issues. 90%+ of my driving is freeway
This car had 120k pump was still good customer wanted to do it according to milages
@@RBTheMechanic my mechanic told me to keep driving my car until the water pump leaks lol.
I may change it out at 180k or 200k just for safe measure

@@RBTheMechanic I'm just happy the 4 cylinder engines have timing chains and not belts like the V6s
@@TC-cd5sm yeah and the pump is external love those never was fan of timing belts I did so many before I started making videos
My 08 was easier. This is a little more difficult
I find this one easier

Oh damn good luck I just did one today I though bolt was gonna brake. I was gonna put slice in to the bracket
Thanks for reply bro. This might sound dumb but can I pull bracket off without taking water pump off of bracket ?
@@josephthegoat1179 not sure it might have bolts around it and I think pump can stay in it
