For those who aren't getting why it's suspended. A "Hot bat" is a bat engineered to be better in every single category over the standard issue bat. Normally they're suspended due to being developed in a way to be a "legal cheat" or what's usually known as a "corked bat" without being corked. Being both heavier and shorter allows for a higher exit velocity and "pop" off the barrel making the ball go farther and higher. The drop 8 is more balanced to be a "fair" play bat, while the drop 5 is definitely not balanced and is purposely designed to be better in every aspect. This is weird to me, because when I played the higher drop bats were illegal. In seventh grade I bought a 33 ounce aluminum Louisville slugger that was 31 inches. That was totally fine. And that drop five was fine but that drop nine would’ve been illegal. I think the thinking back, then was the bigger drop gave you a swing speed advantage, and let you wheel a bigger bat? Not totally sure on that.
I know that dad's pain. I got a TPX drop 5, 2 3/4" barrel for my 13th birthday in 1999. I was supposed to use it all through high school. Then high schools were forced to use BESR bats, making mine illegal & useless.

LOL, when I played we wanted the highest drop number possible. The lighter the bat, the faster you can swing it.
Does KRPC 2 have a reporter that actually knows about this topic?
In California having a kid in baseball league is nothing to do with the kid playing ball .it's a time for the parents to show off that new SUV or Shelby raptor edition truck .
In NY, we wear _clothes._ in California, we wear _cars._ - Eva Longoria.
@@snap-off5383 evan longoria?
@@dudemanofdude who said it is who said it, unfortunately. I just remember it from watching Letterman.
@@snap-off5383 I was just asking if you meant Evan longoria, I didn't know there was a person named Eva Longoria
@@dudemanofdude Yeah she's an actress.
That was a great bat. Could hit bombs with the late 90's TPX! Loved the green one made in '97
They really just took 4 minutes to tell us the bat is heavier.
This is nothing new. I worked in R&D for a bat manufacture 11 years ago and we did testing all the time on bats and some would become not legal for different age ranges. This also happens at all levels.
They did everything EXCEPT tell us why it was a "hot" bat. 😂😂😂😂
So anytime someone says Integrity and Safety in the same sentence that means they are lying.
Someone is eating up to much Market Share and costing other companies to much money
This story brought to you by the makers of hype bat
EVERY sanctioned league should be using wood bats. That would equalize the playing field across the nation.
If the Hype Fire Drop 5 is suspended just buy any other brand of bat that is a drop 5 and you'll get literally the same result. Practically every kid in my league (Michigan based) uses either the Hype Fire or an equivalent drop 5 bat.
So, bat is “unsafe”? Didn’t address this at all. Then at the end, “what should parents do? get the kids a chest protector as they grow older”. What???
The fact that the bat costs over $300 is absurd. That's some boujee kids right there lol.
First story I've seen involving children that arent actively killing each other in a long time
In the 90s we had bats just like this just didn't costs as much
what's "very expensive"?
who the hell is this guy he literally said “what you can do is buy a chest protector it goes right over your chest to protect your kid from being hit by a football” wtf
sounds like a salty pay to win ban for the much better performing bat
Just take everyone back to wood. I dont understand why metal exists.
What is this story about?
$350 for a bat?? Grab a stick!!
Wrap the bat as an 8. Problem solved
It’s not an unfair advantage if you just give it to every player.
I think we need to talk about why people are paying upwards of $300 for a bat.
Those bats in the 80s were rippin too. Let the kids cook
It should be made ILLEGAL just because of the $300.00 price tag.....
Should be a recall and refund money back
Why? Because people were dumb enough to pay $350 for a bat that can't be used in competition?
Crazy..10yr+ ago we weren’t allowed to use anything lighter than -3
Those types of bats have been banned in other states for years
And they should be the escape velocity is almost twice as fast as a conventional bat
That puts infielders in danger for lack of reaction time too many kids have had serious injuries including a heart stopped from the impact on a pitcher
Leagues should just supply approved bats and all the kids have to use it.
Find out who can hit rather than who has daddy’s money
My man "dropped " $300 on a bat for his son.
I have a brother who lives pay check to pay check traveling all around Southern California every weekend doing the same thing.
Take that $300 and save/invest it.
Its not the tool but the wielder of the tool. A $300.00 baseball bat will not magically turn you into a star player 🤷🏻♂️
We should just make the fence for the kids of rich parents 50 feet closer to the plate. They demand an unfair advantage and they won’t stop complaining until they have it.
If both teams have access to the bat, neither have an advantage
The reason it's a risk is the reaction time of kids this age, and how small the fields are at this level. Simply said to hot for such a small field. Also this bat is known to break
Banned for safety? Sounds a lot like what they are telling us on gun control doesnt it?
The real crime here is the parents who willing to spend this much money on sports gear. SMH
no way on earth i'd pay $300 for a bloody baseball bat !!!!!
$350 bucks?
Get the heck out
First two minutes of this video they say the same thing.
