- Papyrus finally confronts Sans about his past, his secrets, and the late W.D. Gaster, and Papyrus shares one final secret with Frisk. In this new chapter in the Inverted Fate Undertale AU, we finally unearth some skeletons in the closet before our heroes finish their final victory lap. That was most certainly a ride.
First, it's interesting that Sans was part of Gaster's death, though it wasn't entirely his fault. Gaster's experiment was going to fail, and would've destroyed the core, so regardless it would have ended badly.
With Papyrus, it's interesting how he's able to track the resets. And it makes sense the biggest spike was when Frisk fought Undyne.
Finally, the ending forshadowing what Frisk did to their friend was also interesting. The plot is definitely building up for the closure, and I'm definitely excited for it!

Ok first off I love how Papyrus's lab is one big Chrono Trigger reference, down to how it's introduced coming in and the clock percussion in the music. Also the time egg reference, even talking about how it's used in Chrono Trigger, mwah! And the hot rod is 100% a DeLorean isn't it?
Seeing Sans's past in full, outside of hints from the secret pages, was really cool too! Some awesome flashback panels there, very cool, and the timeline on Papyrus's temporal monitor is very well done too! And those X's... definitely has something to do with the original timeline being changed into Inverted Fate huh?
Or that crosses is maybe something with the childs then died.
@@sergiomendoza5165 The crosses are in 201X (the year Chara fell) so long before the death of other humans.
I think the crosses are previous loads/resets that have been canceled like the og timeline.
Even if it is 201X, that doesn't mean it's just that year and mabye it extends to OG Frisk's first journey with some canceled spikes. Call it a stretch but I think I have good hold on this theory
Those clocks look like some the ones in Doc Brown’s Lan in back to the future
This is a very nice video about a piece of Sans' past. I loved every moment of it. I also find Chara's interest in the far past reset/load-wise interesting. It suggests a rather academically-inclined background to them.
Yeah, Cap'n Cryptic was very well-spoken and pushed to do well in school even at their young age (they were 10 when they fell underground and died at 13). Very smart and a bit pretentious, they be.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the specific Time captain cryptic was looking for was when Chara fell in the underground.
And seemingly roughly where inverted fate would start splitting off from Undertale.
Also possibly the time Asriel was trying to reset back to when he caused this.
Interesting.
After so many years, it seems the journey is near its end.

I believe this was about searching for what Asriel did after gaining 7 souls, which explains why the timeline failed to render.

I’ve seen Sans cry in many animations and comics. But seeing him cry here, it just hits different.
I think the big difference is that this is a fifteen year old Sans who isn't as jaded and chill as he is as an adult. I don't usually draw him crying, but here it felt appropriate.
Nice to see gaster is remembered and actually utilized in this series.
This is my first time watching anything from Inverted Fate and all I have to say is wow this just absolutely amazed me. From the story the art really everything

**Read Post-script**
This is not the direction I expected, and it worked much better! Though it was repeatedly a tad odd to see details from GastOS and the askblog appear on the main story, this finally tied everything together and paved a way forward. Sans's sprites seemed a little large for his build, but the addition of new gestures is still warmly welcomed.
We're closer now, more than ever! However, words of excitement for this have already been done better, and you all deserve your time. Instead... stay determined!
P.S. Sans was a little too worn to answer his usual way, so here are some pineapple related prompts he could have used:

I like how at the last second before the credits, everything turns gray and glitches out, foreshadowing what's going to happen with Flowey. And, the egg is... interesting. Papyrus says that you can use the egg to change fate, if you do a couple of very specific things including travelling to a post-apocalyptic future, which is exactly what Flowey caused when he became Asriel. Not to mention, the thing Papyrus said about finding a carnival man and winning his creepy doll reminds me of Spamton. It makes me think that this egg is going to become important, soon. Or maybe it's all just a coincidence.

God, every addition to this AU ends up better than the last. 10/10!!!
I love the Chrono Trigger reference in the lab. But this whole animation was really well made!
If I had to guess, the post credits dialog makes me think of Lilac.
Also, I can't believe we all made it this far!
I'm kinda sad that inverted fate is reaching it's climax. This comic changed my life and view on Undertale. Thank you Dorked and the IF team for creating this masterpiece!

Pretty sure the dialogue near the end of the video was from frisk’s friend, I don’t really know who else it could be but them.
That was very interesting. I was so curious about Gaster backstory in IF. The temporal activities that Papyrus showed was really cool too. Also I know who that is at the end and I can't wait how this is gonna play out. I'm so excited!

Long have we waited for more Inverted Fate and boy is it amazing! That flash of gray shades and a little glitch in 17:04 got me thinking that Gaster is probably playing a bigger role in the end. Well I guess we will see about that eventually. Can't wait!

I like the BTTF reference and the Time Egg poking fun at plot-specific macguffins, it's a neat way to poke fun at time travel story tropes
So lets see... Back to the Future references, possible Chrono Trigger reference (I'm not sure tbh) and... A visual representation of how resets are tracked through the timeline. Quite well done and very interesting. If this were a playable game I wonder if the Waves of resets would vary visually depending on if the player managed to keep alive or not during certain points... Its up to whoever programmers it to put in the attention to detail I guess. Whatever the case this was all quite the coaster ride leading up to this point right from the first chapter and I'm both anxious to see what's in store yet saddened since the end is near, but such is life. Lets see how this all pans out when the time comes, yeah folks?

Alright, just watched the video, and… let’s see if I can go over the key points without making a novel ^_^;
VIDEO SPOILERS AHEAD
First: The freakin’ golden pineapple finally found a use, and I love the explanation. Second: Though I know he appeared in a photo earlier, I _love_ your take on Gaster, especially how his design takes cues from both his sons. Third: I’m so hyped to be able to see Papyrus’s temporal workshop, its design is super trippy. Fourth: That timeline monitoring system looks incredible! I’m curious-and fearing-what those X marks might represent.
Fifth: Oh no… those text blips at the end were Frisk’s friend, weren’t they? And I remember the bonus where they set out… they’re coming to find Frisk, just as Flowey is about to enact his new plan.
This could either turn out good for our heroes… or very, _very_ bad.
Another great video. I’ll be awaiting the final arc with bated breath.

I know it's better to not get into these sort of questions, but how would that time room work? What if Papyrus walks inside, then Frisk resets? Two Papryusi, or does the old one get removed? Worst case - what if someone was midway?
I think I know how it works. A new papyrus wouldn't be made. Papyrus wouldn't experience a reset and would only realize it once the temporal monitor rendered, then he would walk out of Snowdin to wherever in time Frisk reloaded or reset.
Another theory could be that only the room itself and the objects in it don't get reset and people + monsters are still effected by it.
And for the first theory, if your halfway then it depends on which room contains more of your body (if that makes sense).
Dorked might have to make a canon for this now...

Have you ever thought about what if scenarios for the comic (like Frisk and Papyrus not helping Alphys)
Some what-if scenarios are tucked away as extra features in our playable content, but those what-if scenarios are exactly why a full-length IF game isn't feasible. Lots of fun scenarios to play with, tho!
If you were to make a game it would have to be railroaded in terms of what you can do but its not impossible and to be honest comics are a lot more revisitable than games anyway

I’ve been playing earthbound, so when the music stopped with the alarm clock, I thought that the camera guy would appear
papyrus need Plutonium,which it's in Pluto,and impossible for moster to get or they can build a ladder from a hole to ruins.
I loved the graphic of the timeline, with all the time-travels.
But who is speaking at the end ? Mystery. I first thought it could be Gaster, but it's not the good writing police.
