Perhaps he has a backup plan or some dark scheme. I suggest we ship these mugs to a variety of different places away from each other and keep them securely within the households who have made the sacrifice to keep a watch on the potentially dangerous object.
"It appears that in the real world, Iron Mugulus is nothing more than a regular, old, harmless mug" What if that's what Iron Mugulus WANTS us to think? Awfully suspicious of Jimothy to want to sell and spread this unspeakable monster as well. Maybe the Iron Australian timeline is already here...
Ice type is weird to me because I feel like they figured it out in gen 4 with Weavile, Mamoswine, Froslass, and Abomasnow’s weather was pretty good too, but then they just… forgot and continued to make weird decisions with ice types ever since
Vanilluxe was kinda fair when it got snow warning and beartic (for its tier in pvp) got pretty decent since hail changed to snow, just sad that the rest of the game has power crept a lot more
Weavile and Mamoswine are not good. Mamoswine learns no strong ice attacks (Ice Fang/Avalanche) so ice is mainly just a detriment. Donphan is a better pokemon despite worse stats (although rapid spin is really important). Weavile's attacks are all stuck at
But like, can we talk about that thanks to our support to Jimothys videos, we made it possible for the creation of Iron Mugulis in Real life as *ACTUAL merch for the channel??* 🥺
One element that I think made so many defensive/unspecialized Pokemon worse over time is the addition of good moves. Like back in Gen 1-3 there were very few moves that cracked the 100 bsp benchmark and most that did were either not very far spread out or had their utility neutered due to the phy-special type mechanic. Leading the few super strong moves that could be good, to not be usable to the desired maximum. This led to the death of the viability of mons that were not optimized for defense. If I had to point at a single move that symbolizes this, I would point at close combat. A 120 bsp move with relativly small downsides, when compared to it's power and distribution. I would seriously argue that this move singlehandedly made normal types unviable in some METAs
Great Analysis! Gen1-3 were very imbalanced when it came to moves. Some types (especially special types) were loaded with strong attacks while other types were weak or the few good moves were exclusive to a few mons (e.g, Megahorn)
Ice type was a genuinely good defensive type in gen 1. The types it's weak to are largely irrelevant, while its Ice resistance is hugely valuable due to how common Blizzard is. Additionally, freeze is effectively an OHKO, so that immunity is even more relevant. As it's just as good of an offensive type as it always is, Ice is *really* good in gen 1.
The menace, Iron Mugulus, must be stopped. Game Freak, in a move completely uncharacteristic of a company of its stature, has destroyed the balance of the Generation 9 singles RU metagame by buffing the already mighty Electric/Normal Pokémon by providing it access to yet another signature move in "Mug", a 250 base power Normal-type move which has the additional effect of deducting $21.99 from my bank account on hit. I understand that these traits are generally considered balanced in VGC, the official format for competitive Pokémon play, but Game Freak must consider the ramifications this has for all Pokémon gamers.
I figured it out. 252+ SpA Quark Drive Iron Mugulis Blizzard vs. 6 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Golurk: 266-314 (83.1 - 98.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ Atk Golurk Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Mugulis: 380-450 (111.4 - 131.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO If he ends up getting it, 252+ Atk Iron Fist Golurk Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Iron Mugulis: 422-500 (104.4 - 123.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO Golurk is coming back in Indigo Disk. Iron Mugulis wasn't plotting anything in the real world. He knew Golurk was on to him, and would potentially be armed with techniques to one-shot him regardless of his defensive IVs, so he's running for the hills!
Here’s some buffs I’m thinking of giving the Regis, so they can be competitively viable in modern gens: -Regirock: Gets the signature ability Stonemason, which renders it immune to Rock, being healed by 1/4 of its max HP if hit by a Rock move, and will remove Stealth Rock and be healed by 1/4 of its max HP upon switching in if Stealth Rock is on its side of the field. Also gets the signature move Sandstone Slam, an 65 power Rock physical move that sets up Sandstorm if it hits. -Regice: Gets the signature ability Permafrost, which makes it take 1/4 of the damage it normally takes from Fire, Fighting, Rock, and Steel moves. Also gets the signature move Cryonic Cannon, an 65 power Ice special move that sets up Snow if it hits. -Registeel: Gets Well-Baked Body. Also gets the signature move Wolfram Whip, an 70 power Steel move that hits twice. -Regigigas: Slow Start is reworked so that it increases Regigigas’ Attack and Speed by 1 stage each at the end of every turn, but it lowers Regigigas’ Attack and Speed by 2 upon switching in. This is because Regigigas is basically Slaking: A Pokémon that has everything working for it…if it wasn’t completely hampered by its ability.
@@enoyna1001even using the spelling of Regice, you can end with up a Regi-ice pronunciation, as following: Re-G-ice, pronounce the G like the literal letter G and you get Regi-ice as a pronunciation despite spelling it with just 1 i.
They need to replace Freeze with Frostbite in newer games and adjust the chances to match the other statuses. With the DEF boost from Snow and the SATK debuff on opponents via Frostbite, maybe they wouldn't die as easily as before. Maybe give Ice 2 more resistances. Ground and Water should work (make Ice weak to Scald to mirror Water weakness to Freeze Dry).
*With a white ceramic design...* "Sorry. But I probably shouldn't buy another mug..." *...and a handsome, blue-accented alternative* "FINE FINE I'LL GET IT STOP TWISTING MY ARM"
Funnily enough, Avalugg has finally become a relevant defensive wall...in Gen 9 NU, where it pairs fantastically with Chansey. Chanslugg defensive cores are currently taking over the meta, largely because the NU power level is low enough that even the offensive Fighting types can't OHKO you with a STAB Close Combat (the main fighting types in NU right now are Heracross, Toxicroak, and maybe the occasional Hariyama, none of whom can get a surefire KO on the Lugg. Even Adamant CB Heracross tops out at 87% using Close Combat, Toxicroak needs to be Adamant to even have a slim chance of OKHOing even after a Swords Dance). Sure, it's small in the grand scheme of things, but it's nice that the Ice Table is finally finding a home after years of being Untiered.
Having Iron Mugulis handy for those annoying invasive Pokemon is quite insane, I will take advantage of this opportunity ASAP. Thank you Jimothy, very gaming and cool.

That’s not exactly a buff. Snow is sometimes better and hail is sometimes better. Gen 8 hail teams wouldn’t have wanted snow as opposed to hail. It’s kinda redundant with veil anyway which buffs the 4 non Ice types on your team as well as your arctozolt and ninetales. Meanwhile the chip damage has useful applications like breaking multiscale which lowers Dragonite’s bulk to the level where arctozolt’s blizzard one shots. Hit the nail on the head. It's all about trade offs. Being Ice-type is a setback, so the other aspects of the Pokémon need to compensate harder to pass that threshold to have that viability. The Regice-Blissey comparision is a brilliant example of how stats do serious heavy lifting for some defensive pokémon.
Really happy for the merch announcement, definitely a nice development! I hope that Iron Mugulis will ship out to EU one day as well. I'll definitely buy it if that happens.
Regice has always been my favorite Pokémon. I remember encountering it in Omega Ruby, and witnessed it being but barely scathed by my Camerupt's Flamethrower. I then proceeded to purchase an Assault Vest in the post-game, and oh my gosh he was the MVP of my team.

If only Regice had Recover, man. You'd really have a strong alternative to Blissey. Back in 200 play before FRLG came out, Regice was nearly mandatory on teams to slow down Pokemon like Alakazam, which was much more popular back then. It's great that people are still finding use for Regice in gen 3 though, I'm glad it didn't just get replaced entirely when Blissey came around.
