  • Here at last! The long talked about Podcasts that Sharon and I have been wanting to do for so long!
As some of you will know, we are very good friends and have made several videos together but Sharon has become a little shy of the camera. So, we thought what could we do about that?
It was then decided that we would have a go at recording some podcasts. My viewers seem to like our little chats and the ridiculous things we get up to so we thought, let us share our lives with the lovely people out there.
We will discuss different subjects each week and will include what we have been up to in the week previous, our thoughts, frustrations (thankfully there aren't too many of those usually)
We will be exposing ourselves really and sharing with you lots of 'stuff' about us and our lives in the hope that some of our listeners can relate and maybe feel less alone in some subjects. Or maybe you'll just think we are weird LOL!
We'd like people to talk to us in the comments or maybe in an email, janetf0159@gmail.com / janetf1701@gmail.com, maybe give us something to talk about? Maybe tell us, nicely, 😊 what you think of the podcasts?

Perimenopause and menopause suck. Thank you so much for this conversation. It is a topic that is seldom discussed, not even by doctors!

I experienced extreme menopausal symptoms and no physician in Canada would prescribe HRT because of the risk of cancer. My (female) gynecologist suggested natural remedies and herb teas etc...Eventually, I purchased HRT on the blackmarket. It was so wonderful to feel normal!
Recently, I learned (and can confirm) that some menopause symptoms, like hot flashes, become infrequent but never ever go away.

Call the Midwife (all 13 seasons) is one of my favourite shows! I got hooked after reading the collection of books by Jennifer Worth.

WOW, this answers a lot. The things I have been feeling for the last ten years. The latest is forgetting words and things I know and now I can't remember. Thank you ladies for bringing light to a condition that is never talked about.

I remember the menopause as a very rough couple of years, I had a hysterectomy at 42 yrs old due to a medical necessity and 6 mths later started menopause. I took HRT for just over 1 yr as I still was working full time nursing, it helped me get through the worst part. I am at least 10 years older than you Jan, as for walking and having leg pain at night I found it better to do stretching exercises or yoga after swimming or walking a 7hour shift on my feet. Plus before I go to bed even now many years later I find it better to switch off TV, computers, tablet or phone about 1 hour before bed and either do some meditation or read in bed for at least half an hour. I also have a small cup of Chamomile tea with one whole clove in it and a sweetner or honey, (never use more than 2 whole Cloves per day) when I get up in the morning I have no aches or pain anywhere. I am quite active for my age and cannot sit for more than half an hour as I stiffen up, so I am always on the go. Also a lot of Ladies will have restless legs or difficulty getting to sleep due to either a too active mind....Worry, tention, stress or even their medication side effects etc. It's really down to excepting that as the body ages your lifestyle needs adjusting, this means learning to relax or unwind or being less hectic late evening. All that said, the climate here in Qld Australia is very different and my lifestyle is very different to yours, so you must try new things or try to adapt to what your body is telling you it needs. I hope this helps. Thank you Jan and Sharon, stay safe and well. 💕🇦🇺

Thank you both for sharing your experiences. For the last few years I’ve really been struggling with symptoms of the menopause, from anxiety, depression and brain fog to dizziness, forgetfulness and even tinnitus etc. I found ‘The Dr Louise Newson Podcast’ (she’s a GP and menopause specialist) helpful and informative, hope it helps someone else. Keep up the good work. ❤️

The menopause is shit.... I've hated it, far worse than having periods for me. I've had nearly all those symptoms except dry mouth. I've just been diagnosed with osteoporosis so my oestrogen levels must be dire. I think the reason GPs/ NHS avoid mentioning it is cost and also I heard there was a shortage of HRT. Having said that, my 47 y o cousin has been put on it in the perimenopause, she was told it was to help prevent osteoporosis in later life! She's obviously got a good GP too.
    Great podcast ladies.

I wear so little no one would notice anyway. I am who I am. A bit of lippy is a about it these days, unless my rosacea is flaring up. Gardening is the last thing I would wear make-up for. 🤣❤️
