I can’t even express how much I needed this video. I have been constantly overwhelmed with all of the content I have to create and I’m at home with two kids. I started this business so I could stay home with my kids but I’ve been feeling like I spend more time working than actually spending time with my children. And it infuriates me because I LOVE what I do. It makes me so happy. But it’s become so overwhelming. I got lucky on RUclips and one of my old (cringey) videos went viral and I saw that ad my sign to start focusing on RUclips but at the same time I felt the same way as you. I was stuck in the “blogger” mindset and now I’m realizing, especially after watching this video, that RUclips is where I need to dedicate more of my time. Thank you for always being so honest and sharing your full story.
That's exactly what I commented on one of the previous episodes, loving her transparency and could relate to her journey in so many ways. Authenticity all the way! Cathrin is crushing it on RUclips and she's definitely a huge inspiration to me.
Here is my observation. I feel that it’s important to remember that you ain’t a blogger, your blog is the platform where you business lives. You isn’t a RUclipsr, RUclips is the platform where you business is booming and currently lives. You can scale both as they can complement each other. Just my two cents. It's so interesting how different all of our journeys are! For me, my blog is WAY more profitable than my RUclips - about 40x more profitable per view. My RUclips ad revenue is super low, but my blog's affiliates earn me an amazingly comfortable salary every month. Thanks for sharing so much of your story again - it's really interesting to hear about other creators' journeys :)
@@sharonmurphyuk Of course not! Aside from to my "gear" page, which I have linked in old videos about my camera gear, it drives hardly any traffic at all. That said, my channel and blog aren't really related anymore - one is about travel (the blog) and the other is more about location independence and lifestyle design - so I would be surprised if it did.

I know quite a few people who have taken their blogging full time in the last 2-3 years (though admittedly the last few months haven't been great!). I wonder if there used to be a lot of blogging "gurus" and now they've moved on to other things, and that's why it seems that way. Or maybe it's a travel blogging thing. Interesting, either way!
This is SO helpful. I’ve been blogging consistently for 4 years and have had a lot of amazing opportunities from it but feel pulled to put more of my energy in RUclips and my book about living the slow life in France. Seeing someone’s face and hearing their voice is so personal and I think more impactful than a blog post - it’s interesting to watch your journey and see you navigate it, as a small youtuber! After watching this video, I think I'm going to heavily focus on my RUclips channel now too. I have around 100 posts now and I make a pretty decent income compared to many folks in the blogging space but I feel like I'm stuck and need to expand my online presence (and income). This video was such a big WAKEUP CALL for me personally. I am exactly where you were a couple of years ago. Recently I have been facing issues with having and maintaining a blog, podcast, Instagram, RUclips, Facebook AND pinterest. I HAVE SO MANY PLATFORMS TO WORK ON, IT'S EXHAUSTING! Last week I decided to just quit podcasting for a while, get off my Instagram for a while, and only focus on RUclips, blog and pinterest (solely for marketing). I still get exhausted while creating content in a week for these platforms. I only create one RUclips video and one blog post per week but it's just SOOO MUCH! With this I want to also take care of email marketing, my website, my packages, services that I provide but I feel like whatever I do is never enough for my business. At one point I wanted to quit everything. I decided against it of course. But this gets very stressful for me to the point that I just wanna stop creating content for my blog and just record videos all day long. I feel like I have the blog running still only for the sake of written content. I think I gotta PIVOT NOW! Thank you so much Cathrin Manning! I appreciate you! I am totally inspired by you! Maybe you can make a video about discovering potential youtube channel niches or maybe how to "change" your niche or pivot if you fee like trying something else or taking the content in a different direction. I know that is a struggle I have been dealing with as of late

I love watching your videos because you are so positive! I just restarted my channel again but I find it so hard to niche down. I am a mom and I feel like there is a broad spectrum of videos you can make but I feel like it’s hard to niche down because there is so many videos you can make...
This was really helpful Cathrin. It is really comforting to see the process you went through. It wasn't just a financial, logical decision, it was situational and emotional as well. This one kind of hit me, I have been struggling to find my voice behind the camera after taking time off from RUclips & I’m committed to the 100 crappy videos montra Roberto has because I need to learn about video editing & finding what works for me etc, but just actually having someone point out where they started helps so much.
