Lori Vallow trial: Full audio of testimonies from Melanie Gibb, Chandler detective (April 13)

- On April 13, a former best friend of Lori Vallow, along with a detective with Chandler Police, took the stand in Vallow's murder trial.
During her testimony, Melanie Gibb described how Vallow's religious beliefs eventually led to her future husband, Chad Daybell.
Vallow is accused of murdering her two children after moving them from Arizona to Rexbug, ID.
Trial proceedings on April 12 were shortened, after one of the lead prosecutors had a death in the family.

If one of my close friends said something like this about her own child, I don’t know that I would’ve reacted any differently. At least in the initial conversation. If my friend and I shared the same faith, and we’ve both practiced this religion for nearly all of our lives… and if my life was centered around my faith (the way I structure my life and choices) and my friend has shared these same values, I can’t honestly say that I would be able to wrap my mind around such a ridiculous idea as “zombies”. I’ve gathered that Melanie has lived a pretty sheltered and very “rated-g” lifestyle. From everything I’ve heard her say, she sounds pretty naive.

Those poor children! They were helpless prisoners of several freaky religious maniacs. Being "active in their church" is not always a positive indicator of a sane or a safe adoptive placement. The comments about Tylee! Tylee Was a teenager but a teenager that was going through a divorce with her parents, then her uncle kills her stepdad, they moved multiple times. If was going through that I would have an attitude too!

i want to know just what it was exactly that made lori and melanie close friends if melanie says they didn't share the same strong beliefs and that things felt off sometimes. the only good question the defense had for this round was asking melanie if her memory was always this bad.
it's also a real shame we're not getting to listen to the podcast episodes for trial since they reveal just how deep into the game melanie was with lori.
The two melanies, are not innocent in this for sure. There’s no possible way that melanie gibb was in this deep, with all the knowledge she had and not realize the extent of the plot, and was possibly even a part of it. And melanie palowski, the niece, she knew this stuff as well, and she for sure knew that her former husband was marked for death. I really think so too. Lori one time admitting that one day she feels she’ll just snap. It seems like Melanie Gibb is still trying to protect them subtlety. Lori in particular. She also talks like she still believes some of this stuff. There’s sure a lot she doesn’t remember. A few names and stuff even I remember. These are people she knew and situations she was in. I wonder if she’s afraid of them. I’m fairly certain that Lori didn’t find out that Charles had changed his life insurance policy to his sister Kay being the recipient until she tried to collect it AFTER his murder. I sincerely hope they go over that at some point and make sure the jury knows for certain.
Edit: I wrote this comment before I heard the cross, it seems they were thinking along the same lines. Hopefully they can ask Kay Woodcock exactly when Lori found out Charles’ life insurance had been switched by him to Kay, his sister being the beneficiary. Maybe it’s been covered? I haven’t listened to everything yet. It’s kind of vital imo that the jury knows if the money was a motive or if they killed Charles solely because he was “a dark spirit”?

I still find it strange that on the email rubric that Chad made for Lori at the VERY BEGINNING of their relationship, ranking Lori's family as light or dark, Chad listed a few people that had already passed. Two of Lori's sisters and Joe Ryan. But the only one that was labeled as "being sealed away" was Joe. And Joe was rated Dark. So, was that bc Joe was so dark he was not Joe and he was done away with therefore "sealed away" ?

As far as I can see anybody who has followed this case already knows that we should still have a lot of WITTNESSES to hear from! So Mr Archambault better tighten up his belt! The State has the right to present the case and obviously they are the ones that have the burden to prove guilt. This case involves 5 deaths and at least 4 being murders that the defendant is involved and charged with their murders. To bad Joseph Ryan's death was an extremely blotchy investigation and no chance of charges at this point! 😢
