I hate to be negative but it is really just astonishing at how bad the Vice network is at choosing anchors... Each one is more boring than the last. I feel like they should be checking these people for a pulse.

Couldn't you use braided nano hydraulic lines to mimic the structure of human leg muscles so that the robots don't fall over? I know that the software would need to mesh well also, but it would be easier to control with independent hydraulic lines to where the robot can adjust on the fly on uneven terrain.

DARPA's intent troubles me some. It's clear the contest is being marketed as the development of rescue robots but you know that won't be the only application. As soon as these thing can move competently and with purpose the military will seek to armor it up and strap a gun on it. However I have put some thought into a robotic take over. Even if they became advanced enough to accomplish the tasks in this course they are a long way away from being truly dangerous. Not to mention a shotgun blast or even a little water would royally mess up sensors on one of these things. Come at me robot I've got a super soaker! Just put down that 30 cal machine gun first.
