I show how to use a fire escape ladder from X-It fire escape ladders.
I would practice attaching the ladder to your window and get familiar with the screens if you have them. I would then practice climbing up from the outside first. This will get you comfortable with the ladder and how it feels.
Before you purchase a fire escape ladder, make sure to measure the width and depth of the window. Look for re-usable so you can practice. Look at the weight limits and length.

tosj asmr it’s cheaper just to buy 2 pieces of rope and some dowels. It’s easy as pie to make a rope ladder using a marlinspike hitch knot

It would be useful to show a demonstration of getting out through the window and onto the ladder safely.

You will never see it because all of these portable ladders are dangerous.

Never use a fire escape ladder that experts advise unless yo want to kill yourself.

These should be mandatory equipment in apartments with second floors.

Thanks for the tips! However, you said that this ladder should work with every window sill. Mine is 20 inches wide :/, with a (seemingly unstable) wooden edge at the end. So if I put that escape ladder on, I am worried that it would slip up and off. Unfortunately, I will not be able to practice this because it is too dangerous to do this for experimenting. So given that my ledge is super wide, will that still work? Would you know anything about this?
I am starting to look into getting a safety ladder or rope because there has been at least one fire a year in each apartment block I've lived in for the past couple years... I want to be prepared for the next...

Hi, I would give their customer service a call. They were very helpful when I spoke to them. If you are comparing ladders, get one that can be used multiple times and has the best warranty.

I seriously doubt it as it looked very narrow, especially for his fat ass, it would be very awkward for him.
Maybe he had a few attempts and then said to hell with it and just released this, lol.
