That's how I learned to adjust my rockers. 0 lash up and down but the pushrod still spins. That's 0 lash. Then the half of turn. Works really well that way.
Pontiacs are neither small or big blocks. They are smaller than big blocks and bigger than small blocks. 326, 350, 400, 428 and 455 all share the same external dimensions.
That intake is actually very good for that engine, even though it`s heavy. Just as good or better than a Performer. Don`t let the restricted secondary fool you.
Looking forward to how this progresses. Something to consider with flat tappet cams. It's probably not a good idea to put new and old parts together, the break in is critical and each lifter and lobe have worn in together. I would get a new cam with the new lifters and follow the break in instructions carefully.
Hello, if that is the compression cold and the engine hasn't run in a while I would say it's ok. turning it over will loosen rings up as well. at operating temp it should come up to maybe 20% higher. the oil in the cylinder check is good for rings vs. valves. a leakdown tester will tell you more information. depending on what factory static compression ratio is, could be good to go.
inspect your new lifters. make 100% sure they are good and ground correctly. there are only a few companies left in the world that make them and most are trash. There are many videos online on this subject and on RUclips. Best of luck. You got a nice survivor used motor there.
Part 6 is coming soon. We’ve been super busy lately and haven’t had a lot of time to work on videos, but I promise a new one is coming real soon. Thanks for watching!
Pontiac has non adjustable rocker arms torque then to 20 ft lbs
robertbreeze5952 You are correct. Stop getting your assembly information from the Chevy guys.
Thank you! I’ll address my mistake on the next video

Very interesting video!
Take a good look at the cam to see if lobes aren`t rounding. Maybe get a pump priming tool and turn counter clockwise to refill lifters.

How you doing a compression check with a lift plate over the carburator
When are you doing an update video? Keep ‘em coming

Stuck valve?
Maybe?
What ever happened with this Firebird build????
Still working on it, that engine needed a lot of work. Video on it will be coming soon!
