I think the engine just sat for a while and things are a little gummed up along with there being some junk sitting on the valves since the compression numbers increased with each test as things got moved around a bit. You might try cleaning the valves off and using some valve lapping compound before spending the time and money to send it to a machine shop.
Also the staining and small pitting in the cylinder is probably not related to the compression issue as it seems to be sitting down low below where compression really begins to build (also it seemed to be at TDC during the test, negating any issue down in the cylinder). A good cleaning and some run time on the engine might clear up a lot of these issues
    Good luck with the build!

Thanks for the encouragement! A little inside info before the next episode, I sent the head off to a machine shop and had it tested. They said it was in great shape and held good compression. So I hope you’re right about the cylinder.

Welcome back Mark, it’s great to see that the engine is giving you more content that you probably didn’t want, Happy Easter

    Are both heads being machined?

Just sending one off to be checked for issues with the valves
