hi man! im looking into buying a 25 key, and I looked at this, the Arturia Minilab MKII, and Nektar Impact LX25+... I felt that this is a bit overpriced. Especially the Nektar has much more special, hidden controls, much more fuction buttons and shift+buttons. for example controlling several daw functions, setting the loop limits, navigating between instrs and tracks etc... Yet this novation costs ~30% more then the above two. I feel that im paying for the Ableton-Novation "trademark" layout, that its made especially for that. But if im not using only ableton but other daws also, i feel its not necessarily the best option. ANy opinions? thx.
Hey! Have you played all three of these? I'd say getting your hands on them and playing with the keybed, controls, etc. is a good starting point. In my case I was looking for something basic, but for your use, some additional DAW controls and functions might suite you better. Really comes down to what extent you want to use it!
@@DSoundman yes i played in the meantime all i mentioned, the nektar has horrible cheap feel, the arturia so so, but the drumpads feel cheap. then I bought an impulse 25 barely used for the price of the arturia, so cheaper than yours. but this has its problems as well. it has a lot of functions but extremely overcomplicated. not intuitive at all. i use CAD programs and i have problems w it. its menu philosophy is reminiscent of my roland d5 from 1992 lol :D like its crazy. also the automap software suck ass. but of course it has aftertouch and semi weight keys. yours i still feel is overpriced but no doubt for ableton is the best.
