Is the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse Z71 a better SUV than a Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek?

- The Traverse is totally redesigned for 2024 from Chevrolet. On the outside of the Z71 you will find off-road tires, raised roof rails and recovery tow hooks. On the inside you will be greeted by an 17.7 in infotainment screen, digital gauge cluster and special seating. Under the hood is a 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 328HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The funniest thing happened to me today. I just picked up my brand new 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and while me and my family were taking the first drive my 13 year old daughter outta nowhere says......Ok dad.....On Throttle 😭😭😭 surprised me and my wife. All we could do is laugh. Love the videos man. That line also earned her a box of twinkies. 😂💪🏽
Excellent
This is so fantastic, I love it! On throttle!
Great selection , love my GCL. This traverse looks legit, wild only a 4 banger
Bro, you need a vacation tbh. You pumping these videos with this much energy like you on some dark roast coffee nonstop.
Light roast has more caffeine
He’s from Florida, it’s Columbian bam bam 😂 jk Joe we all love you
Why are you worried about a RUclipsrs personal life? This guy has gotten rich doing this stuff
He's got a pretty awesome Job. He's probably feeling like it is a vacation compared to what he used to do. Dude has car passion similar to my own. I understand how his job could be addicting.

I am not a GM man, but I am glad credit is given where it's due. GM has been making quite a few interesting products over the last decade, and it's time people appreciate them for what they are.
All that they packed in this vehicle. A power sun roof, super cruise, heated seats, big screen with all the cameras, camera rear view mirror, but I can’t get a power passenger seat. 😂
THE HARDEST WORKING MAN ON THE INTERNET!!!
Nice ride!!! 👍
Joe - I really like this Traverse and for the price this Traverse has lots interior room and lots of bells and whistles, technologies with infotainment and Super Cruise is awesome.
Thanks for the consistent content. You run your channel like a pro. A lot of people could learn from your work ethic and genuine care for your channel's community. You are a class act and greatly appreciated by many.
I have that color on my 24 Trax. Get compliments all the time -- unique color IMO when on the road with black, white and these light blue/steel blue shades of cars now
Styling on the Trax is impressive, good looking vehicle.
I like it more than I thought I would.
I am so glad that I could bring it to you David!
Again the most comprehensive, detailed review on the net ! PS I bought my Rebel thanks to your review
My wife and I love our new Z71 Traverse, I agree on the red detailing of the interior, it's our least favorite part but everything else that comes with the vehicle is great! Our second kid is on the way and we're excited about the amount of space that we'll be able to get for those long road trips.
Pine nuts and they're much better if they're lightly roasted! I'm loving my 2024 Trax RS
I really enjoy watching your videos ❤
That is so wonderful of you to say! Thank you for your support!
There are so many comments in general about the reliability of different brands and turbo engines. Do you have a video talking about the reliability of the turbo engine?
oh yeah. that column shifter is looking so good. They really turned it around on the Traverse. I was eyeing up a Tahoe for a while but now I'm not sure.
This and the Pathfinder are very handsome crossovers. But I’d have to pick the Pathfinder. The naturally aspirated V6 will outlast that 4 cylinder turbo.
EDIT: The Pathfinder ditched the CVT for a 9 speed automatic transmission. That's why l'm now confident that it'll outlast the Traverse's turbo 4. As handsome as the new Traverse is, that turbo 4 is high strung and doesn't belong in a vehicle of that size.
Agree, but will Nissan last???
@@brianb7844yes, in dubai iam driving a Nissan Tida which has done 6,34,000 kms and its still going good.
@@brianb7844 The Pathfinder will because it’s no longer a CVT. It ditched it for a 9 speed automatic.
@@brianmola711 Sorry, I meant will Nissan last as a company.
@@dipin2 Sorry, I meant will Nissan last as a company.
Needs a second row bench option for this trim and the RS. If you offer it on an LT, offer it on the these.
That would be nice if they did that Brian.
Great review, Joe. Good looking vehicle and love the tech. Just wondering how reliable the powertrain and tranny will be.
Still think the Pathfinder rules. But Chevrolet is definitely doing a fabulous job on all their cars.
That was a good video, Joe. I enjoyed it. I like the red trim in the interior. GM brands are really coming on strong. The Traverse is proof of that and the price is great. Have a great week.
I’m finally ok with a TTV6 instead of a V8, but I4 isn’t going to cut it. Nope. 4 zonks for 4 cylinders.
Big Zonk. 4 cynlinder engines shouldn't be on midsized SUVs.
Its displacement is in V6 territory
Good overall review. I like what Chevy is bringing with this Traverse. Like the infotainment system and the camera system they have. Blue Cruise and being off-road equipped for 47k seems like a bargain.
It’s Chevy Cruze, blue Cruze is used by its competitors 😉😄
Great review Joe!
Who ever created the red interior dash and door trim should be fired immediately and shamed. WTF is wrong with them.
The “Z” is red
@@av-ru-mi and? so is the RS. Like the guy in the video said, its just plain ugly and they should be fired. Nice comment lol.
Need a real Blazer and Jimmy! Come on GM!
This is the Trailblazer Z71 I've always wanted to look like. Muscular and sporty.
Actually, I like this over ALL COMPETITOR
The interior looks great! I could eat a whole can of Gold Top nuts in there
I've been seeing more of these 24 Traverses Joe
Rear quarter window makes no sense. What third row passenger EVER said they want LESS window??
Probably Chevy knowing most of the vehicles in this class are sold to families of 4 who just want cargo space and flexibility to fit extra people sometimes. People who will place exterior styling over whether or not the in-laws get a window.
Yeah if u want a real 3rd row seat, get a Tahoe or suburban
Great looking mini Tahoe. I love it. I love the red carbon fiber , but not with the green paint job. Also, that door can hold 2 Wendy’s bags. Plus 4 Twinkies and - a 7-11 big gulp to wash it down.
Can you please do a head to head comparison between Traverse Z71 and Acadia AT4 - ride comfort, cabin quietness, handling, body-roll, etc.
I’d purchase the BowTie!
Joe, is there a reason GM doesn't put the rear wiper up top on ALL of their SUV's/CUV's? It does make sense to keep it hidden up top; I would also think it would break less being hidden away. Thanks for your time!
I am sure there is a cost that they do not want to add into the production of the vehicle.
I would've never thought in a million years to expect the Traverse looking so manly, but it's good-looking, though. I think the Traverse should be called the Trailblazer since it was the Susscesor of the 2009 Chevy Trailblazer.
Wish it had a hybrid engine like Toyota
A great review. Love the baby Tahoe look and the blue cruise
Do a refresh on the tesla model x
Chevrolet Traverse nice.
Yes of course & I will drive this only for daily.
love the dedication to what you do, working hard in the rain. Yes zonk for the exposed wiper especially when the roof spoiler is long enough for it to be tucked in. The Traverse has come a long way. It has surpassed the Explorer in so many way which is a shame because the Explorer has been around much longer. Why would Chevy use the same interior as the RS, taking the cheap route again. GMC has different interiors for the Acadia. No power seats for the passenger is a major zonk.
Thanks for taking the time to say that and for those very good points!
Unfortunately a lot of issues with it being the first year design, (transmission, rear seats, etc..), but GM hit a home run with the design.
I Love Those Chevy Traverse😍❤️💖🚙💨!
Joe, this particular model is my favorite and one of the things is its height from the ground because of the snow where I live, but I told my wife to buy one and she has told me seven times no. 😂
Blew a Stop sign all in the name of consumer knowledge...I can't Zonk em for that!!! LMAO 4.5 outa 5 Twinkies for the review!!! :D
This is closer to what the Blazer should have been.
Love your car video
Would prefer a v6 or hybrid instead of an anemic 4 cylinder.
Pathfinder rock creek msrp starts at $44,470
So far, I think Pathfinder might be better for long run, such as 10 yr, (alike 4Runner) .
Looks good but a new engine in a GM is usually a bad thing. Wait a year after all the recalls and TSB’s are remedied.
Honestly all these vehicles are decently close--but I factor in reliability--I would take a honda--realiability--or a hyundai/kia--good relaibility--tremendous warranty.I went from honda to kia/hyundai products and except for a software update done on my Kona n all have been reliable.
Best looking mid size on the market at the moment.
I like the Acadia exterior better, but I like the traverse infotainment center better.
I like everything about this one, except for that c pillar rear window design. It would look better if that area was all window in the back, imo.
Mr raitis ride do you get spoiled by eating chocolate brownie nuts when your wife bakes them lol.😂😂
I think you’ll find if you’re willing to use a shop vac you can use that back storage as a cooler lol
Why should you have to forego cooled seats and power adjusting passenger seat just because you want the off road friendly version. Most people will never venture off road and the interior creature comforts matter, even if they cost more. The customer should have the choice. Also, no HUD in a vehicle at this price point is a big miss by GM. Great review as always Joe. Wouldn't an SS version with the CT4 V Blackwing motor be nice?
Are you also indirectly giving us a taste of Florida traffic?
Just bought a 2025 Honda Pilot black edition. I wanted to like the Traverse, but honestly I think we’re done with GM. Our Cruze has been a money pit. My GMC SLT with the junky 8 speed transmission has me underwhelmed. On the other hand our Nissan van and old Toyota car have been outstanding. So we’re trying a Honda this time and love it so far. 🤞
Wouldn't call this mid size as it's pretty big. Loved our Acadia.
This is a nice vehicle but where they lose me is the 4cyl turbo, GM makes junk in 4cyls.
looks aight...
I don't know, Joe. No one's taking these off-road. May as well go for a Lyriq or better yet, Polestar 3.
Not on purpose that’s for sure. I can see myself in a situation here in Houston where I might need to drive off road to avoid traffic 🤣
Chocolate covered Macadamia nuts!
A competent but not inspiring competitor in the most hotly contested section of the market. 48k is awfully high for a midsize. I think the red trim is fine.
Replace that red with an earthy color
Although the resale on GM vehicles isn't strong, the reliability is acceptable for the first 40k miles.
One of the 1sts
Shout out Steven.
This is very nice, but I'd take the Acadia AT4.
Totally agree on the red plastic trim, yikes! #subjective
Great minds think a like Rob!
Joe "zonks" the rear wiper... and it begins to rain!!🤔😳
Joe its worth noting my local Nissan dealer is offering a 5k discount on Rock Creeks making them 40.5k vs the 48k that the z71 traverses are with no discount. edit - see in the video you say RC is over 50k, maybe its just my region but im looking at window stickers at 46-47k
i need a real honest opinion. i have a 2021 traverse rs, the downshifts and upshifts from 0-30 and 30-0 mph is absolutely crap. it's so rough and not smooth. is it any better in this? the turbo erks me because i'll hear that it has to work so much harder to move at 80 mph versus NA engine. ill probably just get a tahoe and not worry about all i said. curious to hear your open thoughts.
Hey Chevy, you're redesigned interiors are really nice, but if you really want to separate yourself from the competitors put really nice ambient lighting in the interior (ex. Mercedes). I don't understand why in 2024 mfrs are not including ambient lighting as a standard feature. C,mon, get with the times.
Did you buy it? The headrest of the third row seat can not be put, put down will get stuck in the second row seat there, to wait for the recall, every car is like this, the official website says that there is no parts and other notice [laughing cry R]
I wouldn’t trade more HP for less reliability
No ventilated seats is a small gripe but no power passenger seat in this trim is absolutely wild...ill pass
All I can do is shake my head at the thought of this being about the same price as the Suburban Z71 I purchased barely 10 years ago. Oh, how I'm looking forward to auto pricing in the next 10yrs....
Welcome to the future brother. The new car payment is like a mortgage payment was in the mid 90’s. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE NEW CARS, and will probably leave an arm, a leg and a lung along with a trade in, at the car dealership when I buy another vehicle.🤯😂
I like the mud color
I’ll take the pathfinder anyday with its V6 non Turbo 6 speed automatic transmission over this LArge 4 banger that won’t get 80k miles worry free. Unless you already lost your hair you won’t mind the agony and stress
That's if Nissan lasts.
@@brianb7844 for now and the last 20 years it’s been a V6 naturally aspirated. Same with 4Runner but 4Runner has succumbed to Joe Bidens New America with a gay 4 banger!
They are trying to sell me a Z71 for 49,900 with no Bose and no video rear view… what is up with that?
Them brownies might have had something in them
Tbh that’s not horrible, 47 for a z71 compared to how much a blazer can be
10:31 little baby 😂
How much for your redeye, Mr Raiti?
How does this compete with the Ford Explorer?
Joe, love your videos but I think it's time to raise the white flag on zonking the rear wiper placement. Although I do agree with you, I just don't think it's gonna happen.
I personally don't understand it. Sure putting it in the spoiler makes for a cleaner look, but it seems the bottom is a more practical place for it as it will clear a larger portion of the lower half of the window.
Nissan is toast
Over $50k for a Pathfinder Rockcreek without a panoramic sunroof and power liftgate is asinine to me. If i have to choose, it will be the Traverse.
I'd still buy a Pilot Trailsport which has even less HP (285) ... HP is only one consideration for me ... Reliability is my #1 which Honda has covered in spades ... AWD (NOT 4WD) is my #2 which Honda has covered in spades with its I-VTM -4 system .Overall Goodness is my #3 ...and you know what I'm going to say .. and with apologies to Mr. Raiti, I'm gonna have to give the Traverse a "ZONK' ... and forgot #4 engines ... Honda doesn't build crap ... #5 resale ... and the list continues
Does anyone know if you can add the bench seat to the second row of the z71 or RS?
That is such a great question.
Do you know if a bench seat is available on Z71 ?
It is not. Only on the LT which is stupid. C'mon GM offer it on all trims.
It is a good looking vehicle though I do give it that and the engine layout looks pretty good. Not sure why Toyota can't do that to their trucks towards not a bunch of spaghetti wires everywhere.
I like to see eighties on eight to see which song is on
Do they offer one without a 3rd row?
No they do not.
@@RaitisRides thanks
The red is hideous. Really kills this vehicle. That and the no auto-hold option! :)
Funny how he talks about food in every video !! Sum body feed this guy !! Hahahaha Good reviews though !!
Does Joe ever sleep?
4 cylinder 🙈.. pathfinder all the way
In couple of months you will hear pathfinder also downsized to 4 cyl...not sure what you will say that time
