FS Thunderbolt 1003 - (Broken Rotator & Sick) - Alert - Riceville, IA - 8/1/20

- I was originally going to meet up with Max but unfortunately he wasn't able to come. Anyways, I wanted to get a different shot from the last 2 times people came here to film this. This Thunderbolt is very sick and didn't rotate like I expected. The screen is all ripped up and will only get worse as the years go on (if this Thunderbolt is still even alive by then). Its disappointing that Riceville only tested for 1 minute instead of 3 minutes like they usually do. After this Thunderbolt shuts off you can hear the T-128 that "replaced" the STH-10 that will be a fire siren in the upcoming future. I doubt that Riceville is going to fix this Thunderbolt since that T-128 covers this town really well. They are probably using this thunderbolt until it dies. This Thunderbolt is an Ex-Independence, IA unit. Riceville bought this Thunderbolt and the STH-10 in 2008. The T-128 was put up a couple years ago to "replace" the STH-10. I wish that Riceville would care for this Thunderbolt since they saved it from getting scrapped after it got replaced in Independence, IA. The fact that this Thunderbolt was even put back into service is amazing! I have seriously got to come back here at some point since they only tested for 1 minute. That's all I gotta say for now. Fried rotator, dying chopper motor, definitely struck by lightning several times. Poor thing is just like the one that was in Napoleon Ohio! 😢
The dampers solenoids are probably also fried up there sadly, they never use it as it definitely seems so.....
Maybe something similar happened to this bolt like you stated.

This thing needs a fix. The T-bolt series (especially the 1k3) is/are my favorite siren/sirens of all time.
They are not going to fix this anytime soon.

Does anyone know where this thunderbolt was located while it was in Independence, IA?
Hoooly, this thing is trying wayyy too hard to make it to full pitch in its current condition, hopefully someone will replace the brushes (most likely the problem) and fix the rotator. Also what camera and lens did you use? Nice quality!
This bolt is not getting fixed anytime soon. This has already been replaced by the T-128 in the middle of town. They are just running this thing until it dies. Also, the camera I'm using zoomed in is the Canon PowerShot SX540 HS. The camera I'm using zoomed out is the Panasonic HC-V380K

@@CentralTexasSirens The reason is because this thunderbolt and the STH-10 have already been "replaced" by the T-128 thats in the middle of the town. They should just try fixing this up before its to late.
