I am a huge fan of "old time radio" shows, "Lights-out," "Inner sanctum," etc. Because of this I was always a fan of the "anthology" series, both movie versions, and TV series.
Here are some older anthology horror films from the seventies - Amicus-From Beyond the Grave 1973 Amicus The house that Dripped Blood 1971 Amicus-The Vault of Horror 1973 Amicus Dr Terror house of Horrors 1965 Amicus Asylum 1972 Tales That Witness Madness 1973 The Uncanny 1977 And one from the sixties- Columbia Torture Garden 1967 Tales from Robert Bloch One from the eighties and two from the nineties- The Monster Club 1981 Starring Vincent Price and John Carradine
Tales from the Darkside: The Movie 1990 Body Bags 1993 with John Carpenter as the narrator and one from BBC Four as a miniseries- The Crooked House TV series 2008 BBC Four. Most of the films listed are slow moving in spots, but worth a look for the fan of slow burn horror.
I've probably said a couple of times that I've only recently got into actually watching horror. I always had a fascination with the making-of side of things, much of that stemming from my love of practical special effects. Anthologies can be a great way to explore things with efficient storytelling. A concept that is worth exploring but is hard to sustain for a full movie. They can be incredibly fun but also allow people to explore which side of horror they like. Gore, psychological, fantastical, dark or something that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not an anthology but I love the storytelling of The Exorcist. There are distinct segments, Father Merrin in Iraq, then Ellen's experiences with Regan, Father Karras has his own journey that is separate from Merrin and Ellen before things come together. We, as the viewer, see Karras' trials and motivations, the others don't.
If you enjoy horror anthologies here's a few (obscure) ones worth the search: The Witching Season (2008) - Cemetery Stories (2022) - Beyond the Limits (2003) - Edges of Darkness (2008) - Scarewaves (2014) - At the House of Madness (2008) - Fireside Tales (2016) - Scare Us (2021) - Encounter With the Unknown (1972) - Ghoulish Tales (2014) - Before i Die (2003) - Wild Tales (2014) - Into the Dark (2018) - Devilish Tales (2019) - Hotel Hell (2014) - Screamtime (1983) - After Midnight (1999) - The Haunted Hotel (2021) - The Three Faces of Terror (2004) - Slash FM (2022) - All Hallow's Evil (2013) - Last American Horror Show (2018) - Socio (2020) - Drive-in Horror Show (2015) - Patient 7 (2017) - Little Deaths (2011) - Campfire Stories (2001) - Hood of Horror (2006) - Fright Show (1985) - Sanitarium (2013) - The Telling (2009) - The Theatre Bizarre (2011) - Escapes (1986) - The Fright Night Files (2016) - Still (2010) - The Black Book (2021)... the list could go on, but these are a good start.
I have to bore you with how I guessed 6th sense. Love when a director plays fair. There were 3 good clues in it from mild, medium to hot - the first when you see the mother and psychologist sitting together - they don't look like they are interacting. The server giving the bill to the wife does not acknowledge the husband's arrival. I have been a server - you always acknowledge someone who just sat down - esp. in an upscale place. Last and best - taking a bus to the dead girl's house. Why a bus? Dead men don't drive.

The House that dripped blood is a Masterpiece!
@@theemporiumofdread3789 Yes, it is. You should check out "The Monster Club" sometime if you haven't seen it, Vincent Price is deliciously cheesy :D
I own a lot of these in DVD! They are truly fantastic films
Great list! I've watched them multiple times. I love King's short story collections, and those of Joe Hill, as well. Subscribed!
As do I , thanks for the Sub much appreciated! 💀 ☠️ 💀

I'm always a sucker for the segments with creatures or some kind of strange monster type being.
#TED 🖐🏽👻 luvvv anthologies!! Great list👍🏽
My favorites Dead of Night 1945 version. England's Asylum, Tales from the Crypt, Beyond the Grave. Black Sabbath, Trick r Treat. Fun films, well done.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
This is a good list. Did you forget Asylum, From Beyond the Grave ? Great Amicus anthology movies. xx
It was tough trying to just pick 5 films. by the looks of the comments , I might need to make a part 2 for this video, lol .

@@theemporiumofdread3789 My pleasure!
DEAD OF NIGHT, from 1945, is *the* great horror anthology film, with an unexpectedly powerful climax.
I've got that one in my must watch list for sure!
Love anthology storys
Alright, Horror Freaks, let me hear your favorite horror anthology movies. 💀 ☠️ 💀
I saw Creepshow 2 as a kid in the 80s and those stories always stuck with me. I'd follow that with Trilogy of Terror because - Karen Black.
Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside, Trick 'r Treat🎃
Tales From The Hood 1 & 3
I can't swim in ponds , thanks to creepshow 2 .
Horror anthology movies and tv are the best!
I agree!👍 💯
Well chosen films! Nice work.
Thank you!
"I CAN HOLD MY BREATH A LOOONG TIME...BLUBBBBB BB"
Necronomicon is a great one but holy shit the last segment
Great rundown. Really loved Creepshow and TwilightZone, surprised you Didn't do Tales from The Darkside
That's a great one! It was really hard just sticking to five , so many good ones.
Tales of the darkside is my favorite 📀
Great movie!!
I dont know what you mean, but you quoted totally different types of films. Which of those is a "anthology movie" what does that word even mean?
All of them are ,it just means a movie made up of a series of short stories.
@@theemporiumofdread3789 Clear . I thought so until I saw scenes from full movies. Maybe I was wrong?
Tales from the dark side is pretty good as well
Great movie !
Terror Tract with John Ritter, After Midnight, Southbound and Tales from the Hood part 1 are good anthology films.
I've been trying to track down a copy of Terror Tract.
good list! I'm a new subscriber because of this video!
Thank you very much! Glad to have you ! 💀 ☠️ 💀
"Cat's Eye" is a superb film. The weakest entry in the movie is the segment with Drew Barrymore.
As a kid, I loved that one, but as an adult, not as much , the ledge is now my favorite segment.
@@theemporiumofdread3789 I still crack up when that guy calls the pigeon a "flying shithouse"!
Father's day is my favorite story in creepshow
That's a good one. I love the practical effects in that one ,they still hold up today. The Crate is my favorite one , freaked me out as a kid .
@@theemporiumofdread3789 I love practical effects in horror movies. The decay on the dead father still freaks me out to this day
@@theemporiumofdread3789 I waaant my caaaake great line from that segment
Any chance of 6? Asylum by Hammer Horror was another great one (with a good ending twist).
I'm going to track this one down. Who knows, maybe it might just get its own video review /breakdown .
Definitely worth a view if you have not seen it. Also good acting as usual.
@@theemporiumofdread3789 I have an attitude about seeing twist endings coming (I even guessed 6th sense) but I did not see that ending coming.

Just gave it a watch last night ...Great flick! Thanks for the recommendation. 💀 ☠️ 💀
Algorithm did its thing showing me your channel !!
Thanks!!
Vault of Horror is a good one.
Great movie !
I remember seeing "Reflections of death" I was very young and when the final reveal happened,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I ran away from the TV!
I love hearing other horror fans memories , it's what makes horror so much fun as a genre.
Dead of Night
Asylum (1972)
Doctor Terror's House of Horrors
The House That Dripped Blood
All Great Movies!!
