What's more impressive is that they built that dragon at the top of the mountain.🐉

I've seen a lot of the videos about Ninh Binh and Hang Mua in particular and everyone of them said they were super tired but the view was worth it, all of them marveled at how Vietnamese brides trekked up the path to get epic wedding photos. I believe all of you which led to a thought I had to myself - how in the world did the people who worked on building those steps, carrying stones and worked in the hot sun to cemented them, and the people that build those temples at the top and that magnificent dragon managed to create that awe inspiring work?!?!? That's crazy awesome.

    • @FloraandNote

We sat up at the dragon and said the same... how did they build this? It's pretty crazy walking on those sharp narrow rocks at the top!

The view is absolutely breathtaking! *It's called the Great Wall of Vietnam.* Unlike the Great Wall of China whose tallest part reaches approximately 14 meters (or 46 feet), the Great Wall of Vietnam leads to the lying dragon on the mountain peak of over 250 meters (about 820 feet). Although the guides say 500 steps, the steps are not evenly spaced or measured so it probably comes out to 1,000 regular size stair-steps! It's said the dragon would bring good luck, health and wealth to those who touch it.

Flora and Note, when you come back, do Sa Pa (lots to do around there, including trekking with the locals, waterfalls, glass bridge which non one does so be the first! hahaha), Da Lat (tons to do there), Cat Ba Island (I think Max McFarlin and Chris Lewis stayed in a really cool hotel there away from the city years ago) but check out the video that "Jamie and Hannah" did while there. Phu Quoc has a ton of stuff to do and looks like fun. Of course, I'm curious if you guys have considered motorbiking the Ha Giang Loop (LukePalms and CularTravels have great videos from there and "Jammy Bits" are motorbiking across Vietnam now). Oh, forgot to mention Hue, which few vloggers go to, but I think it's got lots of temples and is known for great food (Alright Anton! has great videos from there and "Chase and Shelbs" found a great restaurant there).

BTW, remember that the t and th sounds are switched with English. So Tam Coc is like (thum coke...but don't drag out the o sound too long in coke). If you see tr or ch, switch it with the j sound in English. Hang Mua (mooh-uh...roll it into one smooth syllable).

There's no "Th" sound in "Tam Coc". If it was, it would have been written as "Tham Coc". Vietnamese is phonetic. Hope this helps.

@@dnguyen6 Then what's the English equivalent? Just like the word Thai it's a hard t sound vs Tai (a Vietnamese name) is pronounced with a th sound.

@@doodahgurlie There is no English equivalent for the Vietnamese "T". On the other hand, Vietnamese "Th" sounds like "T" in English.

@@dnguyen6 Guess me and my family been speaking Vietnamese wrong all our lives. And since there isn't an exact equivalent, then what do you suggest? If you're gonna pick on sounds similar in English, you would have been better to go after what I said about the tr and ch sounds than the switch of t and th as that is definitely one with a slight difference in sound but I was trying to give them something similar to a Western sound that'll be easy for them. It's like trying to teach foreigners to say Nguyen, which is absolutely challenging to do as that nasally sound definitely does not exist in English. I stand by my statement on the t and th sounds for Westerners. Also forgot to add that Vietnamese people don't have harsh ending sounds (so when I suggested say coc as coke, I should have mentioned that you don't drag out the o sound, but also don't go down harshly on the hard c/k sound at the end)...they tend to trail off the ending sounds like the French. Also of note, single syllable words. Some sound a bit like dual syllables because of the roller coaster rolling of the sounds such as in mua.

@@doodahgurlie I would say the best way to learn any language is to immerse yourselves in it. So if there isn't any English sound equivalent to the Vietnamese "T", just find some Vietnamese language YT channel such as "Tieng Viet Oi" and listen to how the Vietnamese alphabet is pronounced. Then practice and practice. Good luck to you.

It was one of our favourite days in Vietnam. It wasn't too bad of a climb but it was HOT 🔥 That's why we had it almost all to ourselves at the top haha we're sure it would be a lot busier during sunrise or sunset.

Views were breath-taking (literally haha)! Was it hard to walk at the top near the dragon? The rocky path up there looked so scary!!! Did yall use the metal chains to scale up or grab hold of the dragon itself? 😱😱

There's a huge waterfall between the Vietnam and China border that's also worth checking out. I'm sure you guys will do it all justice with your amazing drone skills.

You foreigner should know that Ninh bình(or Hoa Lư) was the capital of Việt Nam from 968 to 1010 and Tam cốc was the Royal city of Đinh- Lê dynasty About 900 AD Viêt Nam got the independence from China but the Chinese emperor did not give up so many times he gave chinese divisions to take the rule back but all be defeated In 1010 when Chinese was hopeless and Vietnamese was trong enough, King Lý Thái Tổ( you can find his statue in a square next to Hô Gươm in Hà nội) decided to move the capital from the defensive place of Hoa Lư to economic growing one of Thăng long ( nowadays Hanoi)
