hey Brandon I appreciate your lifting and equipment feedback videos. Thank you for the content. I bought some MM handles that haven't arrived yet based upon your suggestion of using them with a spotter arm. Do you prefer the UDA versus the previous use of the handles with spotter arm? Also, I would like to see your review of your Irwin rack and thoughts versus Rogue given the width difference and customization they did for you.
Thanks for the kind words. I think at the end of the day I'd prefer using a spotter arm and handles vs a dedicated dip attachment like this. My reasoning is more to eliminate excess equipment. The dedicated dip thing is def better, but it's another piece to store and that's all it does.
After a meet where I had 2 squats turned down for depth I got that banner you can see behind me to remind myself that it’s up to me to decide if they’ll be white or red. Went on to go 3/3 on squats with 9 whites. So got it tattooed as a good reminder that most things are up to me 😅
The Rogue collab looks nice! I picked up an older MM made one on FBMP for $100. Gloss black with stainless handles. It was fitted for a thinner rack but I reached out to MM and bought some UHMW that converted it to a 3x3. Love mine but it does have the old T pins instead of the knurled knobs. MM said I could send them the handles to thread if I wanted. Still haven't got around to it though. What I like about the UDA is the handles are removable for versatility. Hail to the W! 🙌
Great timing on this one... I was looking this past weekend and wondering if I should go with this or the velocindor (spelling?). Hearing that this might be in the MBF sales is perfect... My kids will be getting me this for the holidays! I can't wait to tell them.. .LOL
Velocidor looks good as well, just beefier and angled handles. I hate overkill attachments b/c i find they're more annoying to set up and store, but that's just me!
Really want one of these. Glad it’s going to be on sale for Matte Black November. Side note: I couldn’t stop looking at the white safety strap brackets. Did you have them powder coated?
Really nice quality on these! Maybe I'm in the minority but for dips I prefer the feel of those cheap fat dip attachments with 2" SCHD 40 pipe and texture powdercoat. 32mm knurled stainless is beautiful tho, and MM does amazing work if you have the patience for the one-man-band turnaround times. Would be cool to see them offer a magnetic plate option so you could just flip them up for storage instead of removing and inverting them. (I've done this as a DIY add-on)
Quick question about the wiggle on the upright. Is your new rack a metric 3 x 3 or true imperial 3 x 3? I’m just curious if it would be tighter on something like a Rogue Monster, or have even more play on a Rep PR-5000.
Imperial. I find even with attachments sometimes the thickness of the UHMW is a bit off so even the same manufacturer can have some variance in how things fit.
If you purchase through us we can fit them to a PR5000 upright. I’ll make color shims available soon also that will allow better fitment and color logos
I got my Rogue MM dip attachement during the spring time and absolutely enjoy that thing. Fit and finish is great, came in pretty quickly as well. I did also order the 12 in handles from MM direct for my trolley arms and extremely happy with those as well. Subtle differences between the handles but nothing too crazy. Also to be honest, I was expecting some Careless Whisper playing in the background as you were doing the unboxing. Lol!
Brandon do you feel the 38 vs 45mm handle diameter makes a big difference on the feel in your hand when doing Dips? 35 seems rather thin for dips and the rogue version Velocidor is even larger at 48mm so is 35 comfortable?
I have not used the velocidor or the Oak one, but my thoughts would be that they're similar in function, however at least with this one you get some versatility with the detachable handles. The Velocidor ones detach as well but haven't seen them being used for anything else other than the orientation they have on the dip mount.
I bought the dip attachment a couple years ago direct from MM. Got it in bright green. It’s great. Uses a cotter pin to secure the 18” arms but that works fine. I also use it for parallel grip weighed pull ups by putting it higher up on my rack.
Well. You sold me again. Now. I hated dips before this, rogue matador has been my set up. This feels 1000% better on my shoulders and the handles just feel right. Idk. Went from not being a fan of dips to, I look forward to them. Fan of these is an understatement.
Love my MM UDA with 45mm handles. To help keep the friction low on actually using them often, I keep them permanently set up to use on a Rogue 3x3 strip secured to a stud on my wall. Helps me grease the groove whenever I walk past them or my pull up handles.
Might be time to reconsider this. I really like the idea and versatility of the detachable handles. On another note, I’m really surprised I can actually SEE a difference in your rack width after having sen your Rogue rack for years. Didn’t think that would be possible but it is obvious even on video.
Getting the Mutant Metals UDA was one of those purchases with my gym where I spent more upfront, but have never had a single regret or doubt about whether I made the right decision. It stores easily in the back of my rack and looks/feels perfect every time I use it. Can’t recommend it enough (I got the Rogue version with stainless steel handles).
@@BasementBrandon Probably a little boring, but I went with the normal matte black. After getting blue benches early on, I decided to do my rack and all future attachments matte black, to make sure everything matches. Only exception has been blue fringe sport magpins, to match the benches. 👍
I bought a used rogue velocidore on a whim….wasnt expecting to like was much as I do but its fantastic. I’d be interested if n comparing the two but obviously thats costly unless you can borrow one.
Wondering if this fits well on the PR 5000? Also wondering about wiggle? Would it be worse on the PR 5000? About the same? How about the velociraptor? Thanks I advance
Will be slightly loose on a 5000 however if you purchase through us we fit them directly to a PR5000 upright in the shop. I will also be making different color shims available to adapt to different size racks.
I haven't tested but I would imagine the same as it's made for imperial and not metric. You might be able to request additional UHMW or shim it yourself.
I had the privilege of trying a set on the UDA (setup at the Rogue Gym) and they feels "right". That was enough for me. I love them and I will get them for my next gym.
I own this one and I owned the previous mutant Metals version with the T clips. This one is beefier and had better lead times, but I would have also love to have a new version with welded endcaps, bur the Rogue frame and knurled nuts are a nice upgrade
I think if you see a use case for having removable handles it might be worthwhile. Otherwise if you don't find yourself doing a ton of dips, not likely worth it.
@@BasementBrandon "Ailurophile" - honestly had to look it up. LOL. Who knew I could expand my Home Gym knowledge AND my vocabulary all on the same channel!
I have velocidor which is more overbuilt than this while not needed it's far better than the matador. A 150 means nothing to me for something that will last and be used for years...
I think the bigger concern for most is wasting the space on something that could be done on another piece of equipment. Most power racks already have pull up bars, so this lets you get dips in as well without adding to your footprint.
Just for now. I was turning them out in a couple weeks but the last min snap orders have taken over the shop. The time will reduce likely in about a month or so
Sometimes I like the instruction manuals because you can always refer to the part numbers in case you lose one part or doesnt come with one. Do you think it will have a lot of play and wiggle when you load it up with your body weight plus 150-200lbs on a dip belt? The velocidor is very stable when doing dips with 160lbs.
I must be tired. I thought the thumbnail said “Mutant Meals.” 😂 I was like Brandon is reviewing a new meal delivery service? Sign me up! 👍
I had to go back and re read it to make sure it didn’t 😂
Each meal has an attachment for different types of dips :)
Same lol I thought okay 5% is making prepackaged meals now 😅
That's crazy I saw the same. Had to watch the video again to make sure.
Thought it was going to be some meal replacement plan 😅
Look who's back, back again
Same old channel, same old content 😅
I compared the Mutant metals and Rogue UDA side By side. Love them both
Solid on all accounts

I swapped out racks to an Irwin Fitness one, he color matched the brackets to the rack.

Is your new rack a metric 3 x 3 or true imperial 3 x 3?
I’m just curious if it would be tighter on something like a Rogue Monster, or have even more play on a Rep PR-5000.
Either way companies make adapters or shims or there is always UHMW tape

I think it's personal preference. I have bigger hands so prefer a bigger diameter, but no real benefit.
Do you have insight into the Matte Black Friday sales? Are they doing the entire month of November again?
I would believe so.
I have a Oak Club rack. How would you compare this dip attachment to the Rogue Matador, the Rogue Velocidor and the Oak Club Cliff?

How would you rate the handles for home defense?
You could F someone up with these. Prob would go with the 18" ones for that purpose.
Pro tip. Do your dips facing the other direction. You’ll be slightly externally rotated resulting in safer and stronger dips
