Aw such a simple design to hide corners but they look gorgeous. I’m definitely doing this on everything forever. Great tutorial. And why not steal every technique from Adam. Why recreate something that works so well. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
As I have taken from Adam you can now take from me. It became a bit of a running joke I had with him but I genuinely love his approach! Glad you liked the video 🙂
Eagerly awaiting my files and preprinted parts from the Kickstarter. Are there any expansions planned? These sets are great for Gondor and Arnorian ruins. How about some sets to make hobbit holes - this would be pretty small I guess, just a few doors, windows, chimneys. But I can see that a Rohan-themed set would go over big. And perhaps some for fittings for buildings for the Enemy faction - Angmarian and Dol Goldur ruins and evil castles like Minas Morgul. Some STLs for making statues like you see in Osgiliath and Amon Sul, plus evil ones like the two Watcher statues at Minas Morgul, plus broken version would make an awesome scatter pack add on to go with Slice and Slot. And while we are think of architectural details - gargoyles for buildings - I don't recall anything like this in Middle Earth, but they would make the sets attractive to people doing more historic-Europe style buildings and ruins, or for the Mordheim and Frostgrave folks. Anyway, love what I've seen so far and just waiting for the bits so I can level up my terrain making.
you are hitting so many great points here. I think the next thing I want to focus on (once I am done with this initial set) is to look at some evil settings. There aren't a lot of terrain options out there for things that would fit Angmar / Dol Goldur. I think this could be a good excuse for some gnarly gargoyles!
Love the attention to detail you put into this. Exposed edges something that breaks the illusion on so many pieces, so making that little extra effort to hide them pays off big time. The engineering on those slice and slot pieces is great! Re. Methylated spirits: I use the same thing for the same reason 😁
Yeah agreed, its the little things that often go a long way when building terrain! Oh and I'm glad that I'm not the only one using methylated spirits hahaha
@@microforgeminis any kind of highly pure alcohol product works in the same way in this role, it breaks the surface tension of the water and dries fast with no residue. Nothing wrong with using methylated spirit, surgical spirit, or whatever is most convenient round your neck of the woods.
Awesome job man! I wish I had seen this before I finished my building, really like the way you did those corners. I'm just gonna have make more stuff with these haha
Hey mate the Kickstarter for this one is all finished up but I will be releasing the 3D print files in the next couple months once more of the physical pledges have been fulfilled. If you don’t have access to a 3D printer I can let you know some distributors in your region if you let me know where you are based.
I only know it as a safety ruler. Stops me from cutting off my fingers when inevitably try and rush cutting things. Here is a link to the product in Australia although not sure where in the world you are based. www.eckersleys.com.au/aluminium-safety-cutting-ruler?gclid=CjwKCAiAuaKfBhBtEiwAht6H7zaNAxyVQudYbWq0Z3qpZ8Ic4Q_Y8PnxQl95rW5yTcknmMWuhTwZYRoCelsQAvD_BwE
So chances are there will be someone nearby who can print them for you. Or you can back a physical pledge and we will print and ship them to you. But postage is expensive from australia so I totally get not wanting to go down that path.
@@JMACCSArmiesOfMiddleEarth oooh yeah do it mate! It’s not too hard and once you have it set up it’s pretty straight forward and you will never look back!
Chemistry Major here: Methylated spirits are toxic... they contan up to 10 percent methanol which is hella toxic... and given the fact that you vapourise them and have them evapourate... I REALLY hope you have great ventilation. (i'd really advise against using them though no matter what... your health is worth more than the upgrade to isopropanol)
Cheers for the shout out dude! 😁Awesome little piece of scatter terrain btw I like your leaf mix, that looks tasty!
Cheers mate. Well after copying ALL your techniques I had to throw in one thing of my own! That flocking technique you used is my go from now on.

Looks awesome, printer s going to be going brrrr all weekend!
Awesome build.
I am just downloading the files from the Kickstarter...really excited now )
Cheers mate glad the excitement levels are building! Can’t wait to see what everyone makes with it!

Incredible 👌
Love the corner method......simply and eye pleasing
thanks so much! glad you liked it

Cheers mate! Given how insane your first build was using the system, I can’t wait to see what you come up with in future!
This is an awesome system, nice little video to show it off too 👌
Thanks mate! Glad you like the system!
That looks amazing man. Cant wait to start printing these for myself.
Thanks mate! This one was a lot of fun to put together. Especially giving myself the constraint of only using foam and 3D printed parts in the build.
Wonderful work, love the stones!!👍👍
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
Those corners are genius! You should get a job as an architect or something 😆
Hahaha nah building miniature ruins is waaaaay more fun 😉
Love that . Can you tell me how I can get hold of the kit you are using 😊

Amazing
Hey - what thickness pvc foam board would you recommend? Is 3mm thick enough or would it be too flimsy?
Cheers
Yep 3mm is the perfect thickness. Not too flimsy and easy to bevel the edges so models don’t fall over when they are on the edge of the terrain.
What is the ruler with the flip up part you have? I want one of those.

@@microforgeminis Thanks. I found one on Amazon.
Sweeeeet. Sorry if this is a really stupid question but whats the best way to get this stuff in the UK?
I have a bunch of merchant backers and will create a published list of all the merchants at the end of the campaign.

See this is why I put this in the video. Thank you for this information. I will be switching over to IPA straight away!
