That 9' 4wt H3F is a pure joy to fish with. I rigged mine with a super simple and light old school battenkill reel and it is so light and responsive it feels like nothing in your hand.
So, Alvin...I'm planning on taking my Orvis Carry-All as well. Is the best thing to do to just check the Carry-All as checked luggage after you arrive in Argentina for the Domestic Argentina flight?
Great information. I remember the first time I got the shark skin lines , the first thing you noticed was the noise. At one point I thought it would saw through the guides but it didn’t and it casts great . Of course that was years ago don’t know about the new lines . Thanks for sharing
have a ton more stuff coming!
what flies did you use down there/ what was the most effective pattern?
@@armpitsmcgee3000 I would say a PMX or a Formerly.
I always enjoy seeing what kind of gear the guides take when they go fishing for fun! I am really looking forward to the upcoming Patagonia trip vids!
Another fantastic video Alvin! Thank you for sharing what you packed on your trip. Can’t wait to see what else you have coming up on the channel.
Great video Alvin and thanks for the recommendations. Patagonia is definitely on my bucket list!

I fish a 6 wt recon in central Texas for bass which is great, but my guide in colorado had me on the Helios H3F and i loved it
I love the sound of a textured line. Great as always!
Glad you like it!
Thanks Alvin! Fishing coming up next!
Thanks for watching.
Great tips
Glad it was helpful!
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing Looking forward to trip videos
Thanks for the overview! Looking forward to more! 👍👍👌🙂
Thanks for watching!
Great video. I’m leaving for Argentina in 3 weeks.
Good luck!
Thanks for sharing! What is your main camera set up?
My main one is a Sony FX3, but I also use the Sony a7c for video and most of my photos. Still use my old GoPro 7 a lot as well.
Did you fish with Javier?...if so..he is a fantastic guide
Yes, we fished with him for 4 days, he is great!
How sturdy is the lid on that carry-all pack, and how do you fit it in an overhead bin? Thanks for the videos!
It's pretty solid, I'd say about 1/4 inch of hard foam. It is longer than the official carry on size, but it fits fine in the overhead bins.
Looking for that fly puck holder where can I get that
I got it years ago in Colorado. Not sure where. either Fly Fishing Outfitters in Avon or Vail Valley Anglers in Edwards.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing found it on Etsy thanks
@@ChefShawn79 That's awesome. People ask me about that thing all the time.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing check out the altoids cans on there also

Yes, that is what I did. Because it was just one flight I was pretty comfortable checking it since there wasn't much chance of it getting lost.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing That's what I'll have too. One flight from BA to Calafate. Did they charge you extra for checking your fishing carry-all?
On the boots. Did you go barefoot, wool or neoprene socks?
My kids got me some new Patagonia socks for Christmas and I wore those. I think they are a wool blend. Wore the same ones for days.
